Truly an honest assessment. He directly criticizes the shortcomings of his own nation. That takes integrity and is something badly needed amongst the political "Leaders."

I've had the privilege to serve with this man. A man of integrity. Tis a pity that the former PM that sent him and his boys into Iraq, lacks the same. FAB

I have the greatest respect for this man as a commander so please dont generalize americans...A good leader stands upon his own laurels.

I met him twice and on both occasions in a very sombre mood. As an ex-soldier, I could tell that inside he was seething. That was prior to his retirement, and immediately after. Had I been one of his boys, I would tread very lightly.

Tim Collins, one of the best generals we never had. But it goes to show that nothing has changed in the British Army, Public School twats failing to lead men. The Lion's led by Donkeys syndrome goes on, it always takes war and needless casualties to reveal this to our powers that be. Having fought for my country I feel qualified to say this. As Aryeh Nusbacher said 'Military Competence and Tactical Efficiency were never criteria for advancement in the British Command structure'.

I refer you to my prior post .Col: Tim Collins was a natural leader. One could even be mistaken in thinking he had come from the ranks ( as a L.E.O.)

It is so desperately refreshing to hear the simple truth spoken aloud. Quite distressing it is so infrequent a thing.

I wish I had the business acumen of most Irishmen I have met, and the British army could have done with a few hundred more Ulstermen Like Col.Tim Collins

The first gulf war, the 1991 invasion of Iraq and Kuwait, was justified and accomplished its limited aims (ejecting Iraqi army from Kuwait). The second gulf wa, starting in 2003, was a mistake. Poor intel, poor end stage planning (none or undefined), pres bush hubris to show his toughness (and his childish response to a plotted assassination attempt on his father). He was, in the end, the C student legacy frat boy we all expected.

Sorry Tim but after reading your excellent book, you now disappoint me by trying to justify this illegal invasion. If the regime needed to be changed, why did it take 30 years of Western support while he was murdering and torturing his people to depose him? Why didn't we invade Zimbabwe where British descendants were being murdered by a more ruthless dictator? Why do we keep following the jew S.A, into war when we havent got the resources to fight them?

Truth is? MONEY Money IS power and they who control the world's money, control the world! Lt. Colonel Collins was, in my opinion, a great soldier. A great soldier who was, as so many before him were, stabbed in the back by the mealy-mouthed, spineless, self-serving Politicians.......
