If you’re new to line art and Inkscape, i suggest you watch the Inkscape beginner course on youtube. You should know at-least the basic tool functions and command, they have a thorough explanation on each tools and some guide exercise.
You can use both, I suggest if you could experiment and test them both and see which is better that suit to your needs.
For me personally. I used a thin material between 80 to 100 gsm, so the light can still pass through.
I used an LED fairy light (warm), but much better if you have the LED light strip.

What LED strips do you use for it? I'm confused with 220V in the online marketplace. I also watched your previous video, and i think it's the same think LED/light source you use for this tutorial. Any suggestion?
Hello! :) I used LED fairy lights (warm), but you can also use a 0.5-meter LED strip light for a brighter light effect.

Hi Katrina, I've succeeded create the art using your resources & i'm also using the same lighting but when i turn on the LED, the LED just like stars not spread out & bright like yours
Is it because of the depth of the frame? or my LED not bright enough?
Actually my frame not deep like yours... you can say the LED & paper is stick each other when i close the back of the frame... should i search for another frame ya?

Hi there! I'm glad to hear you created the art using the resources. To address the issue with the LED light, here's the specific materials I used: 100gsm Canon Paper, 120GSM Koala Glossy Photo Paper and Fairy Light (warm)
Regarding the frame, it's indeed crucial for creating the desired effect. My frame depths are 1.5 inches for the landscape frame and 1 inch for the square frame. The space between the LED and the paper allows the light to spread out evenly.
Given that your frame is not as deep, it might be a good idea to look for a deeper frame to create the desired effect.
I'll be sharing more details about the frame I used in my next content, which will be uploaded next week. I'll include a downloadable file template for your reference. Feel free to try it out, and if you have any more questions, I'm here to help. Thank you for your interest!

@@GravityDropple 120gsm is fine; I've used it for my Totoro piece as well. Remember, the thinner the paper on the front, the better the effect.
Now, about those frames! If you're on the hunt, Amazon's got some cool shadow box frames. Alternatively, you can get creative and make your own version using paper cardstock, just like I did.

To solve this, you can use thin paper and laminate it. Just layer three sheets of thin paper and laminate them together.

I see, I'm not familiar with creating a shadow effect in Photoshop either. You might want to search on TH-cam for tutorials on how to make a shadow vector in Photoshop, similar to the trace bitmap feature in Inkscape.
