      @Henrick Boot You are right except for the fake Judo/jitsu part. Then if you check a power competitor like this small guy from East Europe you can see the potential of shotokan style. Problem is (not only in JKA) the training way. In my opinion (of a practitioner) would be: all the same (actually the same as in the past because now is even lighter) until 4kyu then start heavy with Makiwara training and more cardiovascular training until reach 1Dan; after that add Hojo undo and bag training (like in JKA headquarters) a lot (more than JKA headquarters); more shadow training and more focus training (pads, etc) Actually what all the Karateka s with success in competition fields included the cage.
      HOWEVER; the MOST important factor in Karate even more in modern times is the Dojo Kun (but not the translated one; the real meaning in Japanese. But that is very difficult to understand for most due to Japan culture is way different than most and many things are ignored by them due to the way they live (I lived in Japan)
