Preorder my debut album by December 22nd and get perks! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ixi/decca-ixis-debut-album Influences are NIN, Imogen Heap, Aurora, Radiohead, and more (ok someone said on the livestream my vocal style sounded kind of Maynardy. I'll TAKE IT!)
Parabol / Parabola is and always will be one of the greatest moments in modern music. There’s so many moments throughout both parts that just make you levitate. The subtle falsetto Maynard does when he sings “choosing to be here” lifts me up off my feet and it’s so funny when people say Tool is boring. Like I get it, but just listen to Parabola and I guarantee you will NOT be bored. It truly is a holy experience
This song has such a strong sense of longing and exultation and determination and hope and finality all constantly mixing in and out of each other. Masterwork of modes, chordal changes, playing in and out of sync with each other, transmuting rhythms. Its the vast chaos and beauty of life in sonic form.
Super validating to hear your input to my absolute favourite song. Maybe I also feel strongly about it because of it being an island of 4/4 in a sea of Tool. haha
My favorite Tool song. They played it live at the show in Berlin in 2019 and it was so touching it made me cry, which felt great. Thank you for making this video 🙏 Celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing 🌀🙏🖤
Hi Ixi, I'm new your channel, what gold mine, thank you for sharing your talents with us - Subscribed, and am getting your digital album. I was wondering, could you or Pax take apart one the songs from Dream Theater, something fun like Octavarium, Illumination Theory or Count of Tuscany? Not sure you might fancy them. Thanx in advance. Keep the deconstruction coming!
Legends Legends Learn how to build a fire. I use 1 old rag and a stick, and through scientific knowledge I was able to keep my nerve and not waste a second rag, because I didn't lose my faith in my experience. Knowing how to manage a fire place is how invention and having faith in my own discoveries, not things, discoveries, allows me to persevere past things and into healthy relationships with other people. Talent. That's how I know everything that Dr. Brenen from the television show Bones knows, plus a billion things that she doesn't know, because I trust my experience and because I dont lose my nerve. You might say that the television show proved that she already has that, but she didn't, not before that show was made. Her character knows things, because her school moto was "Help Carry with me All My Things," which would create a community completely dependent on someone like me to guide them. Obviously I'm an inventive person to place their hook on the world instead of me.
Yes!! YES!!! Gonna edit this with my thoughts when I'm done with this video, but this is one of my favourite songs of all time. So fuckin pumped you're diving into it, Ixi!!!
Troublesome AI with nothing better to do. The general accommodation is to keep segments under 30 seconds per 45 to 60 seconds. The bots don't discern if there is commentary mixed on top of the music and will also trigger on random background music as well.
Cabaret with Liza Mineli has the best dance moves. That movie is a comfort to me. That's the way out of the perverted side of Sex and the City's Extended Cut, which no one should watch. Sex and integrity. That's what I think of when I think of Lizza Mineli.
Another excellent and enjoyable analysis - you get TOOL in a way that focuses on the subtel details that make them so brilliant... @ixi did you ever anlyse Boards of Canada ?

People who would say tool is boring are themselves boring
"Danny is so good he can make 4/4 sound like an odd time signature." That one is gold, ixi.
The pot is probably the best example for this
These songs sounds so much better when listening with Ixi.

It feels good because this song is all about feeling good!
This is my favorite tool song. Thank you for covering it.
The songs that got me into Tool, great video as always

Dude, yes! Happy Monday everyone! Have a great TOOL week!
Just stunning song! Every bit of it
The guitar solo over the 2nd prechorus is just a wah pedal until (in this video) 7:40, which is where the pinch harmonics start.
My original thought on the vocal after the stop, was actually the end of the previous line, "...an illusion, A LIE!" and it sticks with me.
Amazing as always
huh-LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-HIII-IIIII-iiiiiive
The words Maynard holds onto are “Holy” “Alive” “Be”
…and the riff you’re looking for is from Pearl Jam’s Even Flow, after second chorus.
Other possibilities: "Stone Cold Crazy" by Queen or "Let Me Drown" by Soundgarden
I love 4/4

This song has the E tuned down to B
Great video, one thing I've noticed is that the song "And all that could have been" is not analyzed here, how is that possible Ixi :D
I thought the intro was Living on a Thin Line by The Kinks.
hey im just curious do u have perfect pitch?
I don't, just good ol' relative pitch!
Is the copyright warning based on a metric that you can accomodate or is it troublesome people in anoraks with nothing else better to do..?

Cheers for that, mate. Looks like they want to herd us to Premium for a more nuanced and granular fleecing. Time to save up and go Patreon 2025🙂
This song is sacred to me. It's the path out of real of Jesus freaks and into a more gentle reality.
Spritual not ritual.

"Though I used to care, I need the open air." Liza Mineli.
We're about the same age with the same taste in music. I fucking love you, could listen to you break down good music all day
Excellent video.
Tool rocks, but I wish they’d write at least a few more songs in baritone.
You've gotta react to the song The Parable by the band The Contortionist
Parabol was always my favorite of the two.
I never cared for the alt rock feel of Parabola.
Sounds like noise to me
