Ohhhh the mitral valve… it has been a thorn for me since I was 14 (now 44) I had rheumatic fever and eventually the regurgitation became severe so I had the valve replaced at 22. At 32 I developed Afib….had 4 catheter ablations to date (2 in 2018, 2019, 2022). At 37 went into heart failure. At 41 had mitral valve replaced and ASD (that I never knew I had) repaired….now getting ready to have surgery to hopefully fix Afib. But thank God the valve is doing good. The heart is soooo fascinating ❤❤

I was diagnosed with severe MVR. I have no symptoms my Cardiologist has suggested to have surgery. My primary doctor tells to wait until i have symptoms. Not sure what to do.
Good afternoon, Dr. Gupta. I was diagnosed with this when I was about 14 years old. Family condition. When I was a child during a traffic accident operation. The doctor at the time said it was nothing to worry about. Completely forgot. Over COVID exercise has dropped to zero for me, two years later. I found it really hard to get back into it. The breathless-less you talked about it. I started to have trouble sleeping a long time, and headaches or migraines. Could those be restated? I’m now currently sitting in hospital waiting for operation for a replacement.
THANK YOU DOCTOR. i have been really anxious about my health. diagnosed with mvp with 15% (trivial regurgitation), my cardiologist said i could carry on with my usual workout routine except for heavy lifting. i am allowed to lift 15% of my body weight though (around 10kg). This video has taken so much weight on my shoulder. It's just that, considering that MVregurgitation is a progressive disease, i wonder how long will it take for a trivial rgtn to become severe? is it possible to regress? are there some ways that I can do to stop it from progressing? anybody here with the same diagnosis with me?
*Please* please can you or anyone tell me why they don't operate until it's *Severe* ..I was diagnosed with MV disease *Regurgitation & Stenosis* (mild-moderate) but 6 mnths later it's *Too Severe* to operate?! I'm on maximum heart meds, home oxygen, & my Cardiologist signed a *DNACPR* 2 mnths ago saying I can Cardiac Arrest at any time?! *Please help me to understand this?* There's *NO* help, advice or support anywhere?! - (No heart conditions in the family & I didn't have Rheumatic Fever as a child)
The diagnosis isn't always accurate. They may not have seen the full extent of the condition the first time. Or you may have been dehydrated the second time, which would make the condition appear worse. Maybe if you go in again for a check and you're very well hydrated with electrolytes they will see that you're well enough for surgery. Good luck!
Thanks for very detailed information sir , As I understand we only use echo cardiogram and MR to find severity of regurgitation . I want to know if the CT can be used , if not what’s the problem
Also mitral regurgitation can cause enlargement of the left atrium and eventual occurrence of atrial fibrillation which will greatly worsen the overall situation "trivial mitral regurgitation" might just be an error on an echocardiogram if there is no murmur of mitral regurgitation
I have been having a few echocardiograms since May after heart problems and was diagnosed with mild mitral regurgitation with an ejection fraction of around 60% which I believe is pretty normal?

How common is it for someone to have both Mitral valve and Aortic Valve regurgitation? I've recently been told I have both and I've had a heart murmur befor. In my twenties I was told then that i had out grown it. This is awesome information your giving. More then I've recieved but I'm a newly Dx as of Wed. 10/26. Next I have yo have a CT calcium score without IV. Had a EKG/Tred mill stress test and i was told no narrowing or blockages found but my doctor had to read it. The preliminary reading was done by another doctor cause mine was not there at the time. Thanks again for this helpful info.
Oh I also have scarcoidosis but as far as I know it hasn't effect my heart. I have it of the skin. Have not spoken with cardiologist again since 9/21. Trying to get appt again befor the date given.
So, whilst 70% of the population has it, my ussue is, 7 months ago I had an echo and had no regurgitation at all. 7 months later I have trace regurgitation in my mitral, tricuspid and pulmonary valves. Why? I didnt have it 7 months ago. My cardiologist is not taking it seriously and doesnt seem to understand my concerns. I will have another echo in 6 months time to see if its getting worse. The fact I have ventricular bigeminy lasting more than 10 weeks at a time is probably the cause. Another thing my cardiologist is brushing off.
I have mild aortic valve regurgitation, is it completely different to this? I’m very anxious about the diagnosis - I’m only 26. My cardiologist said I’m healthy right now and I just need monitoring throughout life. How common is it? It wasn’t detected on stethoscope by the cardiologist.

And I actually saw the leak on meat ventricular valve during the echocardiogram test. Thank God I’m still doing okay and continue to exercise when I can. @@GPadLGVKU I have been taken the magnesium with K2 for like 6 months and when I did my labs it wasn’t good for me. So I just take the 400 mg each day.
@@CelestialTrailblazer you probably need to see a cardiologist and request to do another echocardiogram. Have you ever felt and hear your heart like it’s expanding and then explode? I could be sitting down and I can hear my heart beat very loudly. Then I started taking 400 mg of magnesium everyday, and it seems to help the blood flow in my heart. And regular exercise is actually helping me. But I know I need to see a cardiologist to ensure my body is adapting to leaky valve, and it’s not getting worst. Please take good care of yourself. I hope you are taking it easy and listen to your body, and hopefully you get a check up.

I have the same will be going for a valve replacement in January.
Dr Gupta, is Mitral Regurgitation synonymous to mitral valve prolapse?... thanks I think I got the answer from your subsequent sharing
Hope you find an answer :(
You might want to ask this on his Facebook page or call. He posts a phone number at the end of the video
Good luck!
Hi are you OK with MV Regurgitation now
Thanks for very detailed information sir , As I understand we only use echo cardiogram and MR to find severity of regurgitation . I want to know if the CT can be used , if not what’s the problem
Very informative and useful explanation 👍👍
Also mitral regurgitation can cause enlargement of the left atrium and eventual occurrence of atrial fibrillation which will greatly worsen the overall situation
"trivial mitral regurgitation" might just be an error on an echocardiogram if there is no murmur of mitral regurgitation
Thank you Dr. Gupta
I have been having a few echocardiograms since May after heart problems and was diagnosed with mild mitral regurgitation with an ejection fraction of around 60% which I believe is pretty normal?
Thank you for such a thorough explanation.

Good morning
I have heart leak vale disease . I watched your video and I got lot of information. This video very very useful for me . I will talk to my doctor. Thank you so much.
This is amazingly helpful. Thanks so much!
Hi Doc, thank you for the video. just wondering if there are certain dietary foods/substance to avoid that would worsen the affects? Would drinking alcohol have an indirect adverse affect on the valve?
I’ve found that caffeine makes it worse.
You have taught me so much. I am truly grateful.
Thank You for the great talk!!
Hi doc. I have thickened mitral valve leaflets without restriction of motion, mild Mitral regurgitation and trivial Tricuspid regurgitation, is this ok?
How do they operate on a moving heart? Seems like it would be very difficult.
thank you. this is more info than what my dr gave me
I have mitral valve prolapse and marfan syndrome as well as a leaky valve .my question is will i need surgery ?im also diabetic as well as high blood pressure .im seeing a heart doctor on the 4th of dec can u plz give me some advice on what to expect ?im really scared .ive had open heart surgery b4 but would like a different opinion on what might happen
Dr. Gupta, I have a Lecky valve and an enlarged aortic root what would you suggest?
Great d concise presentation ❤
I accidentally damaged my heart by lifting a 90lbs item using my left hand to put inside a car trunk. From then on I have MVP and regurgitation, chest pain, palpitations and shortness of breath. I'm only 27. Been suffering from almost a year. Not sure how long I have until its game over.
Hello dr I have echocardiogram Friday 29.5.20. And the person who was scanning my heart told me he will immediately report the result to dr. And I will know the result Monday June frist , my question is is he found out some concern about the result , because when he was scanning my heart I saw some blue and red color he done pictures many times and he asked to breath in and hold, few seconds ?
Thank you for the informative video, please do a video on tricuspid reguritation if you have the time.
definitely will do :-)

Is that the same with trivial mitral and pulmonic regurgitration?
I was diagnosed with mitral regurgitation many years ago, and my PA said that I will need a Valve replacement if it goes bad. And I actually saw the leak on meat ventricular valve during the echocardiogram test. Thank God I’m still doing okay and continue to exercise when I can. I due feel fatigue in the afternoon, but I’ve been taking magnesium and also help with my heart palpitations. Thank you Dr Sanjay.
have you taken vitamin k2 along with D3? How much magnesium do you take per day?

@@scarlettrose7658 My cardiologist thinks its Anxiety and told me to ignore all my symptoms. He is not gong to let me do another echo. I have MVP (mitral valve prolapse), Mitral regurgitation, Mild tricuspid regurgitation, Chest pain, Shortness of breath, Palpitations, Multiple pulmonary lung nodules, Intestinal metaplasia of gastric cardia, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), Difficulty swallowing pills since birth. Too many problems that I can't simply ignore. I might actually change my cardiologist to get another heart ultra sound.
Your videos usually have some mic noises but this one really is unbearable.
Thank you for what you do, anyway. I was wondering why my ejection fraction is so "good." I think it's 65. Now I know that that's a bad thing. About 6:30. My cardiologist said that I have progressed past mvp to mitral valve disease. But still regurgitation is only mild to mild-moderate (has gone up and down I think). Is this why my lungs are large?
Hello doc? what if I have thickened mitral valve leaflets? is that okay doc? I was diagnosed of mild mitral regurgitation and mild Tricuspid Regurgitation
What are your symptoms?are you having skipped beats or ectopic beats
How are you now?
we have d same result , how r u now ? have ur doc advice u to surgery ?
saan kna?
Wonderful information. Thank you! My ex husband is in the severe stage now for at least 2 1/2 yrs. He's afraid to have the operation. My fear is that he will pass away before having the opportunity to possibly save his life by surgery. Do you have any suggestions?
How is your husband doing now?

Doctor, could you also please discuss leaky Tricuspid Valve?
Sir do smoking causes mitral regurgitation?
Can people with mild mitral regurgitation do severe exercise and lose weight in the gym 🤔
Thank you this was helpful. Do you have anything on the tricuspid valve as well? I was diagnosed with trivial mitral regurgitation and mild tricuspid valve regurgitation and would love to get an understanding of that as well
How are you now ?
I have mitrial and tricuspid valve regulation both was grade /2 , in 2018,,Was finding when I had Ultrasound throughout the food pipe!,
How are you now?
Doctor can you tell me.mild mr can cure it self .my son has mild mr. Me and vife worry about it please tell something about it doctor pls..
Is really cure itself
Thank you! You explained it very well!
I have mild Mitral Regurgitation...is it ok to do heavy exercise ? I am 62 and bike regularly
Excellent video. I just tweeted it!
Does it help your heart function if you have a pacemaker implanted.
Gary here. I’ve been diagnosed with mitral AND aortal valve regurgitation. It’s at a stage now where I am only required to get an EKG once a year. I would love to see one of your videos that addresses this situation. Also, do you believe there is any connection between my problems and magnesium deficiency? Thank you very much for publishing these excellent videos.
i dont think magnesium deficiency could explain it.a little bit of regurg is very common and doesnt signify any danger

Mild mitral regurgitation what does it mean?
I've got mitral valve prolapse with trivial mitral regurgitation with ejection fraction 70%,what about the prognosis?
Hi ab kaisi ho aap, same problem here.
Very Helpful. I had endocarditis almost two years ago. I continue to get better. Including my Heart. I'm starting to wonder if I now need open heart surgery? My surgery has been held up while I'm getting procedures for a Large Pancreas stone. So you have given me some ideas to think about. Thank You!

Diffrence between prolapse and leak valve
I am 26yrs and 2yrs ago I was diagnose to have mild mitral and mild tricuspid valve regurgitation. I haven't go to cardiologist for 1yr, do you think it will get worst?
If you do enough exercise and good diet and control your cholesterol and blood pressure would not be worse
I'm 32 years Same for me I have mild mitral regurgitation/ mild triscuspid regurgitation but my cardiologist did not explain to me.. He answered me your heart is OK..
