Rules are rules. No apology necessary. Why is everyone else on that flight put at risk if something should go wrong during the flight because of a sacred headdress that is too huge and no way would fit under the seat or in the overhead cargo space. Enough already.
I’m going to bring my sacred bagpipes on the flight next time
Screw all the rules.
More special treatment , why am I not surprised?!
Huh?? If it is too big for carry on it has to go cargo, unless she buys another seat for it. It is "sacred" give me a break, it will not lose its sacredness by placing in the cargo. Someone just wants special treatment because of their ethnicity. Air Canada should not apologize.
The aircraft is a Q400 which has very very very little space for carry on baggage. The Air Canada Crew followed protocol and wrapped the hat box in a "clear plastic" bag with the AIR CANADA logo on it, which can be used for multiple uses. The 'clear plastic bag with the AIR CANADA logo ' had to be put in the cargo hold because it does not FIT in the overhead bins. There is no disrespect!!! Some Aircraft in the Air Canada fleet (especially the smaller ones) have limits on what the size requirements for carry-on baggage. These are the FACTS!!!! AFN Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak wanted the an extra seat for the headdress!
This is not news. It was obviously too big for carry on. It should be in check luggage lol

Perpetual victims.
Perpetual racism
facepalm. Stop your whining.
Air Canada: We’re not happy until you’re not happy. Worst airline in the world.
If she did not follow the airline rule then she should put on NO FLY ZONE.
Yet Air Canada didn’t give a crap about my “sacred” guitar they broke
