What's the point in a TLDR video if it doesn't cover what was arguably the most exciting and most significant result? A generic video of 'there were local elections and tories will probably do badly' really doesn't add much; we knew that already. An 'analysis of election results' video released before all the results are out is not an analysis video. It's basically just speculation based on opinion polls. It seems the only bad news for Labour is their dropping support among Muslim voters, first in Rotherham, now in Oldham. Can TLDR do a video on this? Which seats are at risk to the Workers Party or independents in the general elections?

    Now that the next big election is the most major one in the UK, I want to tell the Brits this:
    When you elect a government next time, hopefully you elect one that understands the concept of building more houses, and following the rules that they made themselves.

      Every prospective government in the UK knows of the need to build more houses. It's not as if the Conservatives have been saying "We oppose building more houses because we want to keep Britain green" or whatever. They have been building more houses, just not enough.
      The planning system needs to be reformed in order to allow the scale of house building necessary. The tories are ideologically opposed to this because many of their voters live in sleeply English villages that hate the idea of green belt develop upsetting their serenity. Their argument is that sufficient house building can be accomplished within the current planning system.

      Errr... so which party do you think meets that? the Conservatives who got handed a huge majority to do one thing, and then didn't do it, broke their own leadership selection rules to change the Prime Minister twice? How about Labour, who spent the last 13 years lurching from crisis to crisis over rule breaking and radicals? The Lib Dems, who no-one basically cares for since they broke the promise that got them the nearest to power they'd ever gotten in living memory, and who's last successful leader immediately went into a high end lobbying position? Or the SNP, who actively campaign against the Parliament they are meant to help function?

      There are plenty of houses in the UK, but a chronic shortage of affordable housing and social housing. My local paper (in Kent) has 53 pages of houses to sell and let, but probably 90% of them are beyond the means of a family with an average UK income.
      It doesn't help that there is now a rule that you can only rent a property which costs (per month) no more than 1/30th of your annual income. So if the rent is say, £1500 per month (the price of a flat down here) you will need to have a minimum income of £45,000 pa. If your income is say, £25,000, you would have almost no chance of renting even a one bedroom place. It would be a room in a house.

    • @theshadowling1
      @theshadowling1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidmccann9811 Not really. The reason prices are too high is because supply is low. the houses which are going on the market can't move because people can't afford them. We've been underbuilding by about 250,000 houses a year for nearly 20 years to keep prices affordable.
