During the late 1800s from the 1860s-1899 the islands of Samoa was a constant war zone thousands Samoans armed with modern rifles battled each other throughout the islands European and American soilders also saw action during the Samoan wars one example is in 1888 Samoan rebel forces attacked and defeated a German invasion force sending the German marines back into the sea or another example in 1899 where Samoan rebel forces scored another victory against the Papalagi this time the Americans and British were badly defeated and were forced to flee to the cover of there war ships many other forgotten battles were fought throughout the islands the death toll on all sides of the war is still unknown to this day but at least 20,000-30,000 Samoans joined the war and choose sides on who to fight for the 1800s was a crazy forgotten time in Samoan history Samoans killing Samoans Samoans killing Palagi Palagi killing Samoans it was a brutal time that must not be forgotten
