- Oh, happy day, sweet soul! Today, I have a gorgeous, sunrise inspired crochet shawl that I know you're going to love! The stunning, half-circle Alectrona shawl features a beautiful gradient fade, lovely marling, and delightful, lacy textures.
In this video, I demonstrate how to work the special stitches used in this shawl, as well as how to get started with the Magic Circle cast on.

To me, the best thing about the morning is the absolute stillness and tranquility of the sun rising. It feels like the whole world is still softly sleeping, it's so quiet and everything starts so gently. When I was a kid I had a lot of sleeping problems and I stayed up all night to see the sunrise one morning and I had my bedroom window open looking out at my parent's front yard. As the sky started to get brighter, softly, I could see the morning dew and cool spring mist that filled the yard all the way up to the edge of the woods, and I could see a baby deer sleeping in almost the middle of the yard. I watched it for a while as the sun started to rise, questioning where it had come from and how often did other animals fall asleep in the front yarn. It woke up before everyone else, but the process was so tranquil and slow. Then it got it's morning energy and strode off back into the woods. It was such a peaceful moment for me and I think about it every time I'm up early enough.

I start my morning out with a meditation before I get out of bed. Then I sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy the quiet morning. If I’m at my cabin I will sit in the screened in porch and drink my coffee and listen to the birds waking up. Morning is my favorite time of the day. I live in a very rustic little cottage surrounded by many huge trees and in the early mornings the trees are full of birds all trying to out sign each other, this is what I wake up to, and this is what I love about mornings.

My favorite thing about mornings is when my 9-lb “deer”Chihuahua wakes up, burrowing out of blankets over my legs and marching up over my stomach and chest to stick her wet nose in my face to see if I’m awake (or faking it, because her expression is so funny). What makes this special is Tigger will be 15 years old on June 20 (parents anniversary) and I’ll be 64 on July 31.
I make some hot chocolate and we go sit on patio, Tigger jumps up on foot rest of my reclining power wheelchair (to look for a dogs to bark at or to nap on my feet), depending on season, I water the plants or turn on my audio book (from local library or Audible) and get out my current crochet project.
I do love the sunrise, but I think a late sunset theme (Cobalt to Violet) or a lake theme (Blue-Green to pale blue or green) would also be lovely and match/contrast my dark clothing.
I only just discovered you, so I don’t know if you indicated some where but how many ounces/feet does each skein have? Is there a written pattern (written out or graph type) while I listen to audio books I do have issues with audio directions. (I do not mind a reasonable fee if there is a cost)…
What I love most about the mornings is the beautiful sounds that starts to wake up the city beautifully. The peeps of the birds, the rustling of the leaves on the trees the air blowing softly into your home giving you a sense of peace while drinking cranberry apple tea. You just breath in that sense of starting off the day right and that you can tackle anything that comes your way. Best way to start the day.
