  • GJ came to us with some former E-Collar training but wasn't very successful when faced with distractions. After training in our famous board and train program, GJ is off leash with distractions!

I love my Stella Blue , but she is so stubborn and I have so many times almost lost my temper and all but with countless hours of training and maturity....it finally happened!!! Never give up and remember that they are so loyal and gentle ...

What a beautiful dog. Energetic, independent, yet almost trainable. Congrats!

my bluetick sadie is a border collie/bluetick mix and her daddy, a full blooded bluetick from southwest lousiana, became a fully certified k9 after she was born. The local SPCA gave me his info so i could reach out and let Sadie meet her bloodline and thankfully the officer that had Hank, her daddy, was cool with it. about 4 months later we met up in New Orleans and those two had an absolute blast! Sadie, unfortunately, had a problem with seizures so she couldnt follow in her dads footsteps

I was able to train my Bluetick to leave my neighbors cats alone, but only the cats in that particular yard. He would even respect my commands if rabbits hopped through that same yard, but I never could get him to obey if he spied a cat in another yard. Nevertheless, he was by far the best dog I've ever had and is now happily keeping my brother busy.

I have a 3 and a half year old female coonhound as well. She can keep almost any command (come, down, sit, stay, etc..)-when we are alone. However everything changes when there is another dog present. She is friendly and means no harm, she just HAS to say "hello." I wish you would show more of GJ sitting and staying while distractions are around and closer. Then I would know it was possible to train a coonhound this way! Thank you for your video. I know I'm not alone!

I did find with my BT that putting the collar higher on the neck gave me a little more control of his head and so on walks he's learning that staying by me is a good thing. Its not a fix all but it makes so I can walk him while we are learning to work together. Otherwise he'd be a huge mess of energy with no where to put it.

That is very Impressive. I have a 12 week old bluetick that I would love to get her to obey and stop biting me and every one else.

How the frack do I teach my hound any of that!? We rescued him a few weeks ago and I'm sure he was a breeding stud, as he was uncut and happy to mount anything that moved and was very reactive to females in heat. We had his boys removed, and then I started training as I did with both my beagle/border, and my Doxie/Yorkie. But this dog...dear god is he stubborn. Food is a horrible motivator. He wants the food a lot more than he wants to work. So we starting using his daily dinner as his motivator. You don't wanna work, you don't eat. But dear god, working with him and my other seriously food motivated mutts, is nearly freaking impossible. And if I leave the other two in the house, I get so much barking that he can't pay attention. He has the minor commands started, and he will stay if I'm very firm, but sometimes it gets exhausting with the massive amounts of repetition this boy needs. And at 65 pounds, I can't manpulate him, to show him what I want like I could with the Dorkie, whom I could just put on his side and say, "Dead" ten times and he had it down like nothing.
