  • ‘I see myself as a Royalist, as a member of the Orange Order I see the sovereign as the keystone. I have to be loyal to the country I live in and I'm happy to call myself Irish, but the sovereign Queen Elizabeth II I see as the keystone to a stable society. It’s my identity - I’m Irish but I’m a protestant man in Dublin

I am an Orange, Royal Arch Purple, and Royal Black Institution lecturer(confer confidential degrees) I have taken part in degree conferences of all these Orders inside Orange Halls and Orange and Royal Black Institution parades in Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland and have really enjoyed all of them without putting anybody's nose out of joint. In fact the GARDI (Irish Police) looked really interested to see the bands accomping Royal Black Preceptories of the Black Institution in rhe town of Raohoe, Co Donegal on the last Saturday in August for Co Londonderry every few years. I have watched AOH parades in Northern Ireland and have no problem with them. I have even seen the Freemasonic Grand Lodge Hall in Dublin even though I'm not a Freemason. Live and let live I say.

Let and let live but why is the orange order based on an ideology that we defeated them 400 years ago at the battle of the Boyne. We were the triumphant ones. We were the supreme ones. And we're not gonna let them forget about it by marching in their neighborhoods. The OO is not exactly conducive towards winning a Nobel peace prize anytime soon.

The Orange order, its officers' titles, its appendant bodies such the royal black preceptory and royal purple arch, all have their provenance in Freemasonry - within freemasonry they're simply titled "royal arch" and "preceptory".

Very interesting hearing these views. Thank you for uploading. I'm very comfortable in my Catholic and Irish background and will never waver from it, but I'd love to see the day an Orange lodge from Dublin can march peacefully through the city and show how Ireland and its people really are truly tolerant and embracing. Your tradition takes up as much space as mine on the flag I swear allegiance to so I hope one day you will feel that belonging.

Interesting documentary, even for RTE, however I am in the Order in England and am of Irish extraction from the South and glad they've have been allowed to air their views. The parades at Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal, are really the only place the Order can parade in the RoI and the State tends to look the other way, as long as it's a diminishing entity and not a threat to their 'perfect' world.as espoused by 1916 and all that...!

How can a foreign monarch be the "keystone" to an Irish state????????? Their only loyalty is loyalty to the sectarian English monarchy, if the English monarch was Catholic they would not recognise that monarchy. so they themselves are sectarian.

Just really 3 attention seekers looking for ATTENTION. I 64years old and living in Liverpool..born and bred in Dublin 12 which is Crumlin...Windmill Park and these Guys with my Dublin accent in Scouse Land who speak the same Accent as I do.."UNREAL"...Just attention seekers and I bet at least 1 of them has been to "Southport " Orange parade on 12th July. Absolutely full of Union Jack's and red flag of and "King" over "Pope" flags as in the So called KOP. Showed this video to Niall who is Manager of "The IRISH CLUB" in Boundary Lane and I would not attempt to print what he said especially when they said in their "FCKN" Dublin Accent ...same as mine. "FUCKIN ATTENTION SEEKERS" is what they are. And what will they do When Ireland becomes 32 and real IRISH MEN have our Freedom from the So called "British IMPERIALISM " My God what's next "...Ah sure maybe they will blame "BREXIT " on the So called "Fuckin Queens Highway " as in Drumcree and then those 3 babies in Antrim whose surname as in mine lost their little lives. Really unbelievable what those Dublin "DUDS" are Saying. In their Dublin Accent. As everyone knows a United Ireland..not a fuckin United Kingdom...is just around our corner and that includes The Irish in Scouse Land who love the Irish Catholic Team. Two football teams Scarves in the Irish Club here in Liverpool..The "Celtic and the Toffees " Would dare those 3 Dublin rejects to come over here to the "Queens Highway " in Scouse Land as in " The Liverpool Irish Club in Boundary Lane " Really they would be found or disabled or discovered in the bottom of the fuckin Mersey...Like I have already said....FCKN ATTENTION SEEKERS.
