    2 corrections:
1: "when you feel sick... to bad: you go to work". NO: when you feel sick you call in sick. Unlike people in the US, Dutch people can stay home when they are sick so they won't infect other people at work.
2: "The Dutch are among the hardest working people". Again NO... we are among the most efficient working people. We do in 36 hours what people in some countries can not even manage in 60 hours. That has it's origin in workers being able to speak up and bringing in actual improvements rather than always having to do what the boss says.

Mate, you stole the words right out of my mouth. Haha
But for real, just correct it. So everyone knows, with the current clip you paint a totally untrue picture and there for misrepresenting it.
Everyone should learn that: you work to live, not live to work.
With a right balans you'll get more done and can spend time with friends, relaxing family or wat you wanna do. Relaxation, good relationship with family and friends help you focus more on your work.
If you are sick you take a couple days off. And everyone expects you to "uit zieken" sickening the illness out. What means you stay a "healthy" day longer home so you can be sure the sickness won't come up again. Therefor you got better functioning and healthy people, who can do a better job.
So those things should be changed so you can let the world know that you can work les and stil get your quotas.

No it didn't start in the 17th century and the Dutch share of the European trade was far too big, more than half of all of it, for the VOC to have a siginificant economic impact. Europeans didn't live on nutmeg wearing silk, wheat, bear, wine, cloth was where the big money was. The Dutch were filthy rich before colonialism started to return any profit. Dutch colonialism actually started out as taking the 80-year for independence to the Spanish/Portuguese overseas sources of income they financed the sieges of Dutch cities with, while colonialism in general allowed Britain and France to start rivalling the Dutch because they stood no chance in the far bigger European trade. It's not like Ali Express back then, a ship load from East-Asia would take over a year.
One of the best geographical locations a country could wish for? It was the worst geographical location. It was partly North Sea and partly flood prone land, the Dutch made into a geographical location people actually wanted to live and could stay alive. It's useless without hydro engineering and shipping skills, and the free trade, open seas and capitalism in general are concepts introduced, promoted and enforced by the Dutch themselves. The Dutch came up with the souvereign nation state, religious tolerance, upward social mobility, freedom, international law, the 'mare liberum' and modern capitalism, they created the order of the world they flourished in and the land they flourished from.
Rotterdam was no good sea port, it only was made into one by digging canals and changing waterways inland. The Dutch changed their neighbours form mercantilistic zero sum feudal monarchies into nations they could deal with and profit from, the UK in particular that was saved from the Dark Ages by a Dutch invasion in 1688. With it's freedom of printing press it was the cradle of the enlightenment. It might be a popular narrative to pretend it's about being lucky with geographics and colonial crime (which there was), the Netherlands is proof of the contrary, as it had to shape it's land and the world first to be to it's advantage.

Would like to see statistics that truly matter. Simply cut off the top 2% richest and 3% poorest of each country and show what the GDP of 95% of the population is. Because we all know that in some countries the top 1% cashes in over half the countries income.
Those people usually do not spend their money locally, but international, while in fact the 'man in the street' earns half what is displayed in the statistics. If you do this, the Middle East countries, East Asian countries and American countries will drop significantly, while European counties will climb in the charts. Wealth is far more spread in Europe.
Same goes for education, heath care, social security, housing, etc. While in mentioned countries the happy few lack nothing, big parts of the population live in poverty.
And though rich people will eat more expensive food and drink more expensive beverages, there is a physical limit on consumption.
So I would like to see which wealth 95% has, what they can afford, which standard of living do they have.

Hm, Dutchie here. 2 side notes: 1. The Dutch are also a tax haven. And I bet that includes some scamming.
    2. The Dutch are NOT the hardest workers. Look at other videos praising the Dutch work-life balance. But they rank among the most productive per hour. That's why in the USA many underpaid people work much less hard. When paid an unfair amount per hour one will put in more hours to do the same amount of work. It's a sad necessity ;)

Long term thinking (also known as child friendly thinking) is the main reason of our stable growth.
Patiently waiting for opportunity to arrive is not a thing here. We rather create opportunity ourselves. (and opportunity is always everywhere to be found) Another thing is that every skilled person is welcome to join our economy and become part of the Dutch success story.
Our taxes are high but they physically and visibly flows back to us, one way or another. No Military Industrial Complex_ to suck away 720 _billion_ dollars of taxpayer's money out of the economy every year without much to show for it.
Lack of racial prejudice and taking care of our poor and stupid are also pillars on which our success is based. And last but not least of course, we have a free and unbiased public school system to serve our future needs and, just as essential, we maintain a humane and uniform healthcare system to guarantee long term continuity in nation-wide growth.

Don’t where you got the idea that Dutch people are expected to work when they are sick. It’s not true. You stay at home. And of course your salary is also paid during the day you are sick. For a year, I believe. We also do not work hard. Most people prefer part time jobs, which the employer must give you if asked for.
One part imo is that the Dutch are very good in working together, in an egalitarian society. The agricultural situation is the result of farmers, university, government and banks work together after WO2. The university did research on real farms together with the farmers. They still doing that.
The other part is that we have a long tradition of applied science, applied art and other applied stuff.

  • @dutchuncle3310

Being Dutch myself I would like to add that the the Netherlands could have been entirely self sufficient as far as energy goes, Unfortunately we are not. There are two reasons for this, one is the Dutch political climate that as good as blocked nuclear energy and (although it doesn’t look like it) underinvestment in green energy. As things stand now a quarter to a third of energy used in the Netherlands is green, over half of that because of private homeowners investing in Solar panels. I suspect the lack of investment by the government has to with protecting its tax base ( high taxes on energy)
Which is causing problems now due to the Ukraine war and having to import from unstable sources. Shell, by the way is no longer a Dutch company they moved to England as a tax evasion exercise. Plus I think you underestimate the Dutch services industry, banking and insurance, expertise on watermanagement and shipping. Technical innovation Philips is huge on medical hardware and of course it’s former division ASML that produces machines to build high end chips. Not unimportant is the Netherlands close connection to Flanders ( Belgium) if Flanders was added to the Netherlands the combination would be (is) in the top ren of the worlds richest counties.

We Dutch recognise us less and less in all this positive information from foreign people. We can not afford a warm house anymore, millions Dutch people. Cold shower has many benefits, but we have to use it. We despise the Euro, both the EU.
We are getting poor, and have a corrupt government and state. Anger grows, while billions are exported to pointless goals, and people have to line up for food handouts, standing for two hours in line, to get some day to day groceries, also people with jobs.
The Netherlands is hollowed out by EU and WEF puppets, and it will take a while to rebuild our country.
To rub it in you put a picture of our so called king on this video, not a king at all, a freemason traitor WEF puppet. The rich part of our country fight the rest with a woke word game, also quite annoying.
I make it straightforward Dutch explicit, The Netherlands is gone, our capital sits for 1,400 billion euro in pensions, it used to be 1,800 billion. And that capital sits in companies like BlackRock. So basically it is gone, 1.4 trillion, that would be a 26 trillion on the scale of the USA, I doubt it if we will see this money back, we are poor.

    • @-_YouMayFind_-
      @-_YouMayFind_- ปีที่แล้ว

yes which is not weird it has nothing to do with the EU. This is part of the war with Russia that we are in that makes oil and gas more expensive. You are just a little brainwashed. This is a problem that is going on in the world that things are expensive. Poor people are everywhere.

Major flaws in this video the dutch where always wealthy hanseatic leageue , a river delta and the honey pot for many empires .
The dutch voc didnt do colonialisme , they whre a trading company they set up trading ports and treaties with the locals it was cheaper to have them work and trade advantagous prices with them for both sides.
There is no dutch man that is not proud of the V.O.C . Colonalisme and actualy controlling the whole of what is now indonesia only happend in the 2nd part of the 1800s and only completed in the early 1910s .
The benelux region or 17 provinces in 1600s or lotharingia in before that always wealthy .
