I was today years old when I realized that THAT IS TIM CURRY AS THE PROSECUTOR! this song just finds new reasons on why its my favorite in the entirety of The Wall album
People complain about this Judge, but I actually find his voice legitimately intimidating _because_ of how calm he is. He fits into the "Tranquil Fury" trope while simultaneously sounding like an actual figure of authority.
Using the sociological dramaturgical approach, we see that this judge, or any other for that matter, are merely playing the role, as they all have frailties and weaknesses of "an almost human nature."
Personnel: Tim Curry as the Prosecutor Thomas Dolby as the School Master Ute Lemper as the Wife Marianne Faithfull as the Mother Albert Finney as the Judge
my favorite Pink Floyd song, so emotional, and so energetic, I have to sing it totally in character, playing out every character and every emotion of every character every time I listen to the song. This was a great performance, worthy even compared to the version from the original Wall Tour of 1980 and 81 on the Wall Live album.
oh man they build a new wall in berlin after the last one got destroyed a year ago, now another one got destroyed in record time, that's unlucky, that wall was only built a few hours ago, i thought foam was gonna be better then concrete wall.
As good as this performance is, the guy playing the judge just doesn't have the anger and weight behind him that gave the original such a great ending.
One very critical thing to understand in the movie The Wall is that all the cartoon characters are psychopomps, and that at the end, without the wall, there is freedom rather than enclosure, at great personal cost.
Those Germans are Insane! That is a gigantic set, full orchestra, elaborate costumes, and massive props. I love it! Much more worthy of the song than a cartoon. Beautiful! Even if the judge was a little intimidated by it all. He was slightly unsure about going all the way flamboyant as Pink Floyd intended.
and to think this was all imagined before the fall of the berlin wall is pretty incredible. of course this performance was after that event, but for the ppl of berlin it must've been chilling to see this once prophecy become a replay of history
Something I notice both one The Wall and in The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails is that both artists had a way of calling back to previous emotions of previous tracks using only 3 or 4 same notes or maybe note spacings. Beautiful work of arts.
im so fucking mad is that tim curry is that FUCKING TIM CURRY i cant believe this can someone tell me is that tim curry because its going to destroy me
I like how the wall slowly transitions into the Berliner Mauer (Berlin Wall), as it's performed on Berlin, 9 years before the actual wall breaks. You can see graffiti, as if it's the wall itself, while scenes from The Wall movie are projected.
I would pay $1000 real life dollars to see this album performed live
Okay rich man
Make it 10k. I’m with you
$10,000

you would pay $1000 dollars to see roger play money for you
The schoolmaster was definitely the best out of all the actors. He nailed it.
+Makai DeLorme IKR
That is Thomas Dolby who played the teacher.
He nailed it: so we can say that he really hammered him that day
THIS. It's hard to pick just one, but the schoolmaster moves me every single time.
Thomas dolby oh how he was made for that role

Wait, what?! 😃 I love Tim Curry! I wish I could have seen this performance, it looks so cool.
I remember when I found out it was him. Awesome!
If you didn't realize it was him just from the walk, you had to know it from the voice.
The Wall is incredible.
Tim Curry is amazing and I am so lucky to meet him virtually at GalaxyCon! Plus, I love this track! Plus I didn't know it was him in this video!
People complain about this Judge, but I actually find his voice legitimately intimidating _because_ of how calm he is. He fits into the "Tranquil Fury" trope while simultaneously sounding like an actual figure of authority.
DUDE youve gotten it i tried putting my finger on why i thought albert did the best version of the judge but you *got it*
That’s why Albert finney was chosen because of his ability to sound intimidating he was a good actor
Using the sociological dramaturgical approach, we see that this judge, or any other for that matter, are merely playing the role, as they all have frailties and weaknesses of "an almost human nature."
I like the judge in this version but the way he sounds in the album can’t be defeated
got to agree with you. when I heard this version of the judge at first I HATED his voice, but I got used to it, and He's great!
Personnel:
Tim Curry as the Prosecutor
Thomas Dolby as the School Master
Ute Lemper as the Wife
Marianne Faithfull as the Mother
Albert Finney as the Judge
Maestro Forte as the Prosecutor, imagine that.
This is one the most insane things I have ever seen in a concert. Waters really is a genius.
Lol at your pic. I love that fox.
Coyōte Starrk I know, right?? It's so cute!
* was
@@JohnnyOttosson85 wait did he die?
@@Sllyk No. It was not link to his life but to him being a genius.
You can still hear the crowd going "Tear, down, the WALL!" up until the end of the video. I absolutely love this one.
They let us keep pieces of the wall from that concert. It's sitting somewhere in the attic. Best concert I have ever been to, hands down.
Sagragoth "walls in the attic he is crazy"....
they tore down the wall
that sounds like it's symbolizing something but i'm not creative enough to come up with it
@@kitma9ughhhhhhhhh people gripping onto an artists trauma because they think it made better art?
You must have taken their wall bits away! Craaaazy

I do the same thing almost everyday! It's almost an obsession.
It runs in my head so much
Same here
That crowd roar as the wall comes down revealing the lights & stage is sensational...Roger is in class of his own ...💎
That imaginative wall coming down pales in comparison to the real wall coming down.
oh man they build a new wall in berlin after the last one got destroyed a year ago, now another one got destroyed in record time, that's unlucky, that wall was only built a few hours ago, i thought foam was gonna be better then concrete wall.
2:23 Sounds like Cartman. Great performance.
Lmao cant unhear it now
hahahah, i just watched Southpark 20 minutes ago.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Fuck sake man youve ruined it for me now 😂😂😂😂😂😂 someones gotta animate that
it's wierd because south park never came out since 1997 7 years after this concert happen.
Tear down the wall, in Berlin, takes the concept to a whole other level! Magical performance.
well i think we can tell why this concert happened in berlin in 1990 was because of the actual wall in 89 which we already knew about.
The fucking Schoolmaster, holy shit xD
Brave AF to me (I have a fear of heights)
That's Thomas Dolby, aka the "She Blinded Me With Science" guy!
I just wish the Judge was more intense.
Man, that's Tim Curry!
My point still remains
Ketston
technically wrong on that point, I'm afraid...
The Prosecutor is Tim Curry; but the Judge is Albert Finney
***** My mistake, i know who tim curry is, but thank you =)
Yeah, Albert's a great actor but he didn't seem to be trying very hard...
Except for that high pitch note of the wife, I love everything from this performance!
The fact that was done in berlin with all the theme of the wall and the context of berlin that haved his own wall is just perfect
Mr. Worm Judge doesn't sound like he feels the urge to defecate! Great production though. The school master was right on the dot!
I lived in Berlin at the time and got a translator job on the set for 6 weeks.
Time of my life
2:20 gotta love how she hit the high notes.
"him and me alOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE" moment
This song is one of my favourites from "The Wall". My favourite character of this video is Pink's Mom. It fits the actress like a glove.
I know this is from 10 yrs ago but thats Marianne Faithfull actress and famous singer she was also mick jaggers ex girlfriend
@@stevengornall934 Good to know. Thanks for the comment. Coming back brought me nice memories.
@@ettoreaveleyra6724 haha happy to do so 🙏
Now THAT's an OPERA ROCK!!!
holy fuck can you imagine being at this concert
As good as this performance is, the guy playing the judge just doesn't have the anger and weight behind him that gave the original such a great ending.
My favorite part of the whole song is the volume and power behind the words "THE EVIDENCE"
I don't know how well Finney was when it came to live shows, but he is quite hammy here.
AGREED
I think that all of the voices being done by Roger works better thematically- as it's Pink putting himself on trial and tearing down his own wall.
SINCE MY FRIEND YOU HAVE REVEALED YOUR DEEPEST FEAR
everyone's costumes are making me so happy they're all so perfect like genuinely spot on and delightful
How can be this a rock concert? Roger is genius
somebody needs to license the wall for a broadway musical
Original judge: "TEAR DOWN THE WALL!"
This judge: "Kindly dispose of this obstruction constructed out of bricks"
Albert Finney's voice is phenomenal, especially saying mother the iconic way. 😊
I wish I was there what an incredible show imagine the whole band played 😢
No puede estar tan loco para hacer un tema asi que impresionante me emociona.
Tienes razón hermano, yo también a veces me preguntó, cómo mierda Roger pudo hacer esto. Es un genio total, un diferente. saludos!
One very critical thing to understand in the movie The Wall is that all the cartoon characters are psychopomps, and that at the end, without the wall, there is freedom rather than enclosure, at great personal cost.

Even if the judge was a little intimidated by it all. He was slightly unsure about going all the way flamboyant as Pink Floyd intended.
And the Red Army provided the band. The actual honest-to-gods Group of Soviet Forces-Germany Marching Band.
The judge looks more like a king.
Thomas Dolby showing why he should've gotten more hits than just "She Blinded Me With Science"
Every time I watch this performance I get emotional, specially at the end. Truly iconic and beautiful
The man is the greatest stadium show producer of all time the wall itself the greatest story ever told
2:23 cartman joins
This whole album, the animation, story...its so frickin brilliant i can't stand it! Roger, nice job mate!
Awesome! Tim Curry's the persecutor and Thomas Dolby's the schoolmaster. ^^
can you believe that feelings those germans would have gotten at time of bringing down the fake wall...roger is simply a mastermind...
I CANT IMAGINE WHAT COULD DO IF MAIDEN PRODUCTION AND WATERS GET TOGETHER ON A CONCERT....
Is it just me? When I first seen this performance and particularly the tearing down of the wall the reaction of the audience.
I would pay so so much money to see this live. Literally a dream of mine
Tim Curry, Albert Finney, Ute Lemper, Thomas Dolby, and Marianne Faithfull. Brilliant.
This must've cost an absolute fortune to stage.
Roger waters. How can one man hold such genius.
Saw Roger in his Wall tour here down under few years back. It was brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tim Curry - The Prosecutor
Thomas Dolby - The Schoolmaster
Ute Lemper - Pink's Wife
Marianne Faithfull - Pink's Mother
Albert Finney - The Judge
and to think this was all imagined before the fall of the berlin wall is pretty incredible. of course this performance was after that event, but for the ppl of berlin it must've been chilling to see this once prophecy become a replay of history
Love Tim Curry as the prosecutor and Abert Finney (Daddy Warbucks) as the judge. Phenomenal
I’d love to see this live performance. I hope I will soon
2:23 Eric Cartman?
omfg yeah
OMFG! I thought I was the only thinking that. XD
You mean he is dressing like a woman?
Lol, I knew somebody else noticed that.
Thats why Pink is so messed up. He didn't respect his AUTHORATAH!
the judge is like: "...fills me with the urge to take a pee"
It's shit NOT trying to be rude
@@KamdynWalter-d3wcum
number two, not number one.
What a wonderful production.
Well done.
❤
I have no disrespect to the rest of Pink Floyd once so ever, but give Roger Waters credit for this masterpiece of an album.
so glad i got into Floyd man, best band ever.
Rip Albert finney you was the perfect choice for this role your sadly missed
more of play or musical than concert.... AWESOME!!!!
Tim Curry totally owns!
omg! why did i have to born after this show?
I love that they actually smash a wall down at the end thats so cool
absolute brilliant😀
Seen this performed live twice, just incredible
I would love to see this live.😊
It was great! I wish the judge would sound a little more furious, otherwise I love it!
was that eric cartmens voice at 2:23 ? like this concert was 7 years before when south park debut in 1997 that's crazy
This is the song that made me fell in love with Pink Floyd!
i wish i saw this live this is beautiful
"Live in Berlin" that makes this moment even greater
amazing performance
Ahh,the Judge is not angry enough!
He's close to what they'd drawn on screen.and I love the live version.😊
0:28 Is that Tim Curry? Mein gott, what a legend
Dr Fraknenfurter himself
Didn't expect they collapse the Walls, Such a great performance & awful truth.... But why I never saw this before or anyone talk about this
Is that Thomas Dolby as the Schoolmaster?
Him, me, alooooooooooone! Different yet perfect.
It's campy, it's cartoonish, but it's also damn threatening.
I found it embarrassing to hear. Thought the same first time i saw it and still thinking the same thing
Bro I had no idea that Tim curry was here before but now that I know I love this version even more
Amo este video
I wonder how long it took them to put that wall back together.
Who played the judge,he sounds so familiar?
Albert Finney
Something I notice both one The Wall and in The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails is that both artists had a way of calling back to previous emotions of previous tracks using only 3 or 4 same notes or maybe note spacings.
Beautiful work of arts.
A work of art
So I'm looking for a live concert where the band is actually singing the song. Can't find any.
I'm sure they could have put an effect on his voice to sound that way live.
i knew the lyrics to this whole damn album at age 17 in 2001.
I like this one better.
It was awesome.😊
caught Radio Kaos in Denver, he knows how to put on a great show.
Excelente show es el mejor en vivo
