I really want to like MHW, but this is the boss that made me quit after the first time I fought him. If there's one thing I hate in a game is gimmicky bosses that require you to either play near flawlessly, spend over half an hour grinding it down defensively or equipping gear you don't like(either aesthetics or removing good gems for crappy resistance gems) to avoid the gimmick entirely. After way too many gimmicky bosses with stupid mechanics I just wasn't having fun anymore and given how 1 out of every 2 or 3 bosses running up to this guy is just more of the same I don't see this trend ending.
For anyone struggling with brachy or any brute wyvern. Every monster has status and effect thresholds from poison to exhaustion. Some monsters have better or worse thresholds. Brute wyverns as in a non winged large two-legged monsters with two arms and three toes. Their legs take little damage but when broken they take more and a bunch of trip status. You want to play under them and punish tall sweeps and lengthy attack animations. Tall sweeps ingeneral can be handed in one of two ways starting at the base if your more then 50% to the body roll in if less roll out or sideways. If fighting something you don't know yet rolling in is always the best option, you'll be surprised by how many attacks you can avoid by rolling into them.

Asmon's actually doing amazing. I think I fought Raging Brachy thrice before I got it down and started farming. It's a very aggressive boss. I think this is one of those bosses that obligate teaches you that you have to make your own openings for the big hits. He won't give them to you himself.
Give the man some credit, he plays on the ultra hard difficulty level: no nulberries, no blight resistances, no flashbangs, no slinger combos. Heck, no guarding. I honestly am not sure if I can do this quest with GS without using guards.
Brachys have huge gap closers and swipes. Best way to dodge them is by timing your rolls towards them. Also keeping an eye on the arm they are hitting you with and also the slime.
Very impressive solo kill on Raging Brachydios most MH players can't even do that hunt in a group let alone solo. Especially not on their second attempt. He's not the hardest boss in the game sure, but he's definitely not easy either at least not before his final phase his blast slime can be a real pain in the ass. Asmon played that encounter very well he played defensively and kept calm. Really been enjoying seeing Asmon's journey through this game's content.
Yep he gets way more hp and you are sht ton of time in the last phase with way more explosive slime, soloing is way easier same as alatreon cause elemental check.. fatalis idk both are pretty hard only if you read his attacks then you will have a good time
Well tecnically it is the easiest phase, it's the same moveset of the previous phase without the Slime and explosions and the only big explosion has a big call before It appens, It can be scary the First time because the player doesn't understand what's happening but that's all
Yeah. That makes it the easiest. How else are we supposed to employ the safety of the giggity giggity get the hell outta there technique? He's still better than me. I full failed RB more times than he carted, and Jane a whole new weapon just to cope. 🤣😭
@@unseengnosis7880 I completely agree but the fact that the entire fight itself makes you have to run for the hills says a lot cuz that last part be type scary but I feel like capcom could have made it so that everytime you touched the slime on the floor you actually got blast blighted instead of taking tick damage or maybe even both at the same time lmaooo

he doesn't understand half the mechanics in this game and refuses to learn them which is why the fight was so hard 1. doesn't wall bang any mobs 2. plays defensive build which does 0 dmg 3. doesn't use correct elemental weapon 4. refuses to use mantels 5. doesn't use environment traps at all
@@QixinYang-dv7ce the defensive builds is what allowed him to beat like 90% of his fights. Look how much he gets ragdolled, how do you think that's gonna go if he gets 2 shot? It is technically possible to beat it solo since each time you fight safi jiva you deplete the energy levels and he becomes unable to heal. Me and a friend beat him with just the two of us but it took like 2 hours.

It's amazing that he's handling these endgame monsters without actually building proper armor sets for each specific fight. That's kinda what endgame is all about. Sure that's making it more hard on him but I respect it lol. It's also impressive but if he keeps this same strategy into Alatreon.. that'll for sure be his wall. And he hasn't really hit any his whole playthrough.
Funny thing is, he might be able to just brute force Alatreon by carting. GS deal enough damage to let you ignore the elemental check to get the kill. The biggest wall Alatreon bring to people is the multiplayer. Because you only have one chance, otherwise your whole team will cart, and that's the end of the quest.
People keep going on about Asmon and this fabled wall he's supposed to be hitting 'any time soon'. People have been saying this from the very first video.
@akaribeats He says he'll play a lot of games. Doesn't necessarily mean he will ever get around to it. He has enjoyed this immensely though so outlook looks good on the series. 😏
I dont know if anybody told you that, but if jump on a monster with your claw, while its not enraged, you can "punch" it and make it rotate and with another button you can release ALL your ammo into the Monster and that will force the monster to run into the direction its facing. If there is a wall infront of it, it will run into the wall and get stunned/downed.
Legit the *only* reason I'm not more impressed, is because he is a prolific MMO player and understood raid mechanics well before tackling this game. Even so, having less carts than hours, and having 1 hands worth of failed quests by raging brachy? Surreal.
he also reads the skills and chooses what he thinks is good, including a lot of defense skills, usually people follow guides on the internet, and these guides are full glass cannon builds, so people die a lot more, he's taking 40+ minutes on hunts? yes, but at least not failing
Learning the monster move set is like 80% of the game, I also did not cart much while doing almost all monster solo on the first try, I was also very observant like him. If you do that long enough you will be able to dodge roll attacks.
@@gabrielturcato1235the thing is that the hardest fights which are coming next actually have very strict time limits and need you To be aggressive enough. Even though Asmon has been speeding through this game and skipping a lot of side equipment and gameplay mechanics, this just goes to show you that the number one most important thing to figure out above all else is positioning in fights. You can see him getting better at it through this series of videos.
He hasn't been getting better at all. He has done one strategy since the beginning. Tank through with Divine Blessing and hope his slow TCS lands while the cat heals him. It has worked so far because 5th gen MH specifically MHW is actually mostly "easy"
as much as i enjoy the stream, he's not tbh. he has tank build, like all out defense. not positioning at all since he pretty much attack anything as long he's safe without exploit monster weakness while GS is built for that, but most of the time his equipment tanking the damage, he spent a lot of potion and palico mostly also the one who aggroing the monster (when got the arggo, he run away). he plays exactly like souls game not as a hunter, since beginning
That's what I thought.he relied so much on his tanky build which I think won't work against Ala and Faty.He beat Raging Brachy and F.Rajang in 40 minutes.Fatalis has 30 minutes time limit.I am not sure he can beat him.

Gotta say, that Safi recon fight was pretty hilarious~ He was just getting torn up from head to toe by the red dragon lol! I kept thinking he would learn after the first few times getting hit by his tracking beam to dodge in the opposite direction just before he fired it, but he never did! XD
16:12 I am not too familiar with greatsword. But I notice he shoulder tackles into nothing a lot. Is that always just a big miss or is he using that as an animation cancel? Shoulder tackles don't take too long compared to other moves GS has.
Tell me that Brachydios fight 20:50 didnt have you in the edge of your seat and hype af whenhe said its over and he dodge everything and ended up with the max potion !! ASMONG AT PEAK!!!!
AT Kirin was the reason I learned lance, and raging brachy is the reason I learned bow. It would be cool to see him use something else, but the greatsword enthusiast in me wants to see him go all the way.
It's like relearning the basics for a new player. I wouldn't be surprised if he replays the game or switches to a different weapon for MHRise. I remember playing longsword on my first monster hunter game MHFU and I didn't switch for a whiiiiiile 😂

U did really well for ur first fight with him and being solo. Good shit. He’s tough especially with that aggression and blast slime but it’s a great fight to learn especially doing it solo. U should bring mega nutrients and orange shrooms to craft max potions on the fly. Antiblast goes a long way ya u lose some gem spots but it’s one less thing to worry about. U can use Nulberries to get rid of blast blight also
I'm so impressed he got this far without the things that makes a fight easier (wallbang, slinger ammo, better mantles, etc even just carrying 10 honey with him so he gets essentially 20 Mega Potions)

Fun thing for people fighting Ragey Brachy and don't want to switch up your builds too much. You can use immunity mantle and cleanser booster to clear off the slime effect. Also for people who have only watched Asmongold may not know this one, but Sushifish scales heal for more than potions do and heal instantly like Max Potions, which can be useful in fights like this one where you don't have a lot of time to heal between monster attacks. and something for the IG users, you can give a kinsect water element and have it knock off the slime from it's hands, horn, and tail while running around and avoiding attacks.
People aren’t realizing that he’s doing all this with a pretty weak sword and armor, he took 39 mins beating brachy with a relatively weak sword for where he’s at
Keep in mind, he hasn’t been playing to the monsters weaknesses at all. He just picks what he thinks is the “strongest” sword and uses that until he gets a “better” one. And it’s been working for him BUT, he absolutely isn’t playing to his potential.

It’s all about the fashion. What value does a proper build have when you can’t die in style? 😂
Alatreon assignment is super easy and fast to kill even with sh1t gear. It’s the easiest monster in the game. Only the event quest is hard

@@Tenma295 thank u for your reply, btw someone just replied that I can just join a savi specific session, is that true?
@@namphan8593 not sure if you can but there are constant groups when it’s in rotation, you’ll just have to look for online sessions with safi as the target.
2:40:15 "It's not even worth hitting his f@@king head"
It is. A head break alone is 180 points on the Safi score card for determining rewards at the end of the hunt. Good luck more than half of its total damage to the head in solo with a non-blunt weapon, chief.
Cool Series thanks for sharing your play through; I might have missed it ( I thought I have seen all the series ) did Asmongold already do the Witcher Segment? Or not yet? Have been wanting to watch those bits in particular since he has been playing haha.
He saw the first cutscene for it but hasn't done the mission yet
He didn't do the quest yet unfortunately, just the portal cutscenes then jump into iceborne
Rocksteady and health booster is actually a really really good combo
God dame, this was so entertaining 100% agree on the blast proof set.
Fun thing for people fighting Ragey Brachy and don't want to switch up your builds too much. You can use immunity mantle and cleanser booster to clear off the slime effect. Also for people who have only watched Asmongold may not know this one, but Sushifish scales heal for more than potions do and heal instantly like Max Potions, which can be useful in fights like this one where you don't have a lot of time to heal between monster attacks.
and something for the IG users, you can give a kinsect water element and have it knock off the slime from it's hands, horn, and tail while running around and avoiding attacks.
this guy went from reluctance to straight up addiction lol
Addiction is an understatement on asmon
People aren’t realizing that he’s doing all this with a pretty weak sword and armor, he took 39 mins beating brachy with a relatively weak sword for where he’s at
It pains me that Asmon uses none of the games mechanics, but he still beat raging bracky way faster than I did. I, am, trash, PepeHands
Man...that was probably the most entertaining stream I've ever watched in my life, i keep loving the game even more every stream
The MR 100 quest you will find a pain. Hopefully you get to it soon.
Keep in mind, he hasn’t been playing to the monsters weaknesses at all. He just picks what he thinks is the “strongest” sword and uses that until he gets a “better” one.
And it’s been working for him
BUT, he absolutely isn’t playing to his potential.
You can remove blast by rolling??
Its a shame for me for having +1200 hrs of gameplay by not knowing this lol
im so proud of him, he came from not understanding the ui to doing great
Asmon after facing difficulty: This boss is badly designed. And no, I won't try to work around the obstacles, I'll complain instead
He's doing well for not utilizing traps and wallbangs.
I'm never not going to pitfall Rajang when he's pissed off.
Let’s gooooooo. Been waiting for this one.
He need to learn to use all the hunters tools: mantles, flashpods, traps, barrelbombs. That would make the game so much fun for him.
I cant wait till he gets to see how fun and addiciting the multiplayer can get!
Maybe seeing other weapons/ways that people hunt will inspire him to try out new techniques! COME ON HUNTING HORN SQUAD! SHOW HIM THE WAY!
You mean those 3 HH mains?
Asmon as someone that is moderately colorblind. You pretty much described a form of colorblindness. It not that I cant see colors, the arent immidiately discernable.
Did he made any AT fights? Really wanted to see that teostra/lunastra action.
No, he skipped over them to go into iceborne.
He did AT kirin off stream. He said it. He has MR gear on when he fought it
He's done all the base world ATs, but he said he found them very manageable. Understandable since he used MR gear for all of them
Well he still have arch Velkhana the third hardest fight in the game
He killed teostra and lunastra!
I dont get his reasoning for not adjusting for a monsters abilities with gear/mantles. 1:12:20 It's like saying "This jump is very high, I better try falling to see how hard the ground is before I put on a paraschute". Other than that, solid hunts, he's wrecking stuff even when bullhorning it.
I get him. He’s like me like that. I don’t understand nor appreciate how hard a mechanic can be to deal with until I get it under my hunts and go at it few times without, preferably with at least one successful hunt. After I’m done with it, I use the relevant skill and I appreciate it a lot more.
I bought this game a long time ago but never played it until about the second episode. Just got the fatalis sword and armour. Working on last deco. Thanks for re igniting my interest 👍
damn good job mate i got the game somewhat recently with 140 hours and i haven't even bothered to even try alatreon well done mate
Asmon's build + playstyle is pretty OP for these hard hunts, no wonder he is hesitant on using rocksteady mantle. You can just ignore everything and swing your GS while recovering all damage you take.
Awesome job! Really glad you stuck it out and got to the good stuff! People always criticise his play, but he does a way better job than I did of starting fights and learning the movesets. Very good and cautious. Figures it out very quickly then big dick 😆
Asmon: uses the slowest weapon
also Asmon: "Why can't I land two hits?????"
4:51 learned how to roll off Blastscourge, i see.
2:06:22 said the man who went up to the dragon's face - it's most dangerous part.
could have went past and hit the face from behind. he can't blast you if you're behind or under him.
He might actually go all the way to fatalis lol. It’ll be crazy If he manage to kill fatalis with this playstyle 😂
Probably gonna get stuck at Alatreon
@@bullymaguire6937 yeah, he definitely won't beat alatreon with that amor set and GS. 40min for raging brachy while alatreon nukes every 6 minutes when you haven't dealed enough elemental damage. Even for GS veterans probably the toughest fight in the game, just because you won't get enough elemental dmg output. Possible, if he would be able to kill him before his 3rd nuke
Local lizard eats too much Taco Bell.
Local monke has no chill.
Local dragon angry he's no longer an alien.
Obviously haven’t seen the video yet as it came out a minute ago, but I’m genuinely curious how he manages to beat alatreon and fatalis, monsters that you simply cannot brute force, at least not with his current game knowledge. Until he is able to pull off a flinch shot, his chances are slim unfortunately 😅😅. I still want him to succeed tho.
alatreon either gonna filter him or make a man out of him 🤣🤣🤣
I brute forced Alatreon and Fatalis just fine solo. I used a raw weapon against Alatreon and killed him before he carted me 3 times, and same with Fatalis. It's certainly possible.
Alatreon is going to be impossible for him. You can't brute force him and GS is the WORST weapon to use against him.
His viewers will prob join in on those and carry him. His build is also really bad too
he’s built different dw
Sending Raging Brachy at first attempt almost to last phase without fireproof, blast res, ancient pots, demondrugs, traps, guards, aniy sharpness skill AND without appropriate level gear is INSANE. This dude is a god at this game, but needs to give in to some skills! Would make the game less frustrating
some real gamer rage in this episode
Alas guys, the Monster Hunter saga has ended... for the meantime
Also him tryng to solo Safi is pretty admirable, although it takes a LONG way until someone can solo him ,it requires specific strats and gear loudouts to achieve it :D
I think they changed the mission to be soloable now.
@@Durbyspecial obviously i knew that while I said all that bro :D
