  • There seems to be some confusion on how the Energizer Lithium AA batteries work, especially in regards to trail cameras. I also discuss how I've gotten away from these batteries but also how I still use them from time to time and why.

    You Are spot on with the lithium batteries. Ive had them last 9+ months in several cameras continuously taking pictures and video

    Great video as always. I passed your battery build off to a buddy recently. Im thinking I may hang my battery up high with my camera. Trying to figure out a way to get it a little smaller then an ammo box and attach 550 cord with a clip to clip on back side of camera strap maybe put rubber bands around it and shove leaves or limbs in to hide it.

    I took a step forward in technology last winter and bought two cell cameras that were on sale. I've been kind of procrastinating with putting them out. I'm also on the fence about types of batteries also, but leaning towards lithium. Or just make a setup like you have.

      Tom, here is the video with all the instructions on how I build my own box. Way cheaper and more cost effective in the long run. Hope this helps. m.th-cam.com/video/4Y8_TlAMgRQ/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUVb2FrIGFuZCBpcm9uIG91dGRvb3Jz

    What size battery is in the box? Is that the same type of battery that's in a portable fish finder?

      Yes, I use 12v 9ah batteries in those boxes.

    Have you tried using the tactacam rechargeable battery pack as a back up power source and the battery box as the main power supply? My plan is to go that route since I have 2 of the rechargeable Tactacam battery packs.

      I have not. I'm always a little leary when it comes to product specific accessories. If I would switch brands I would kind of lose out on them. However, they do make sense if you stick with them long term and assuming that Tactacam doesn't change their models to not be able to use them.

    So when running 12v external on reveal cam, do you leave camera setting for battery type on lithium since those are internal backup?

    How long does the external battery last on your Tactacam reveals? What size external battery do you use?

      @oakironoutdoors2436  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use between 7ah and 12ah batteries with the common battery being 9ah. With that said, I had no issue getting the 7ah batteries thru 5 months on the Tactacam Reveals and that includes video mode which I switch over to in October.

    How many years do you think the battery boxes will last?

    • @oakironoutdoors2436
      @oakironoutdoors2436  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The battery around 7 years. The box should last 15 to 20 years easily. The wire components are well built and as long as the seal does its job all would be good. If the seal even gave out, one could just make a silicone seal.

    I have a blaze video w600 trail cam for monitoring night time deer activity. It's great. With motion activation, it takes roughly 30 one minute videos a night. The problem is battery life. It uses 8 energizer ultimate lithium batteries. In cold weather, 10 to 20 degress f, they only lasted 6 or 7 days before dying. So I got 8 more and it's the same. Do you or anyone have any suggestions?

      @@oakironoutdoors2436 thanks but I was really wondering if 6 or 7 days with those "quality" batteries and the way I use the cam is par for the course. They supposedly should last longer.

    Why not use a 12v 7ah-9ah Lithium battery instead of a SLA battery or NiMH instead and not waste on the energizer expensive backups?
