THIS KART IS AMAZING! I love the way it is starting to look. But I returned the steering column before taking a photo for the thumbnail like a ding dong so enjoy one of the few photos I have lol.
To expand my personal growth I purchased a TIG welding Argon Tank and a foot pedal so I can do more than just MIG. The past few weeks have consisted of lots of rework trying to square up the frame, and rebuild the control arms. It has been difficult but I won't stop until I am done. I have been buying parts like the Steering Rack and Pinion but I still need many more parts. I ordered a Limited Slip Differential on Brands Hatch Performance over a week ago and I have not so much as gotten an email back. DO NOT BUY from BRANDS HATCH PERFORMANCE!!! I am pretty sure I got scammed.
Stay tuned I will have more updates coming soon.
    Thank you for watching.

Sick stuff dude! Make sure your rack ends are in line with your pivot tubes for the front control arms

Now I don't know if you been told or not . But your tie rods need to be at your pivot at the A-arms so you don't get bump steer. And the rods should flow the same as the arms to or add spacers to get best alignment

Good work! Can I ask where did you find the front shocks or what's their reference?

Starting to look good! As others have said, look into bump steer. Now is the time to check that the rack and arms are in the correct locations. Best to mock up the positions and jump on the front suspension to see if you have a problem. I had a customer's buggy which had +-1 inch bump steer on each wheel - there was not much scope to reposition the rack so I ended up putting on 3" drop links below the steering arms to eliminate the bump steer. For the Nike I made a dummy rack with adjustable length to check best position th-cam.com/video/DVdg-7JwPMc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fvrJlayLBQPQQFTs&t=668 best regards Doug

Thank you! I just ordered a shorter steering shaft and the U joints/extras I will need to bring the pinion closer to the control arms and break the straight line steering shaft into an angle. I will keep the bump steer in mind when I am ordering my tie rods and getting closer to that point. I really appreciate the help from everyone.

You should just honestly extend your axles instead of going through the work of changing your spool and redesigning it. Just my opinion, but you’re doing a great job and trust me in the end it’s gonna be worth it.

Now another question is why do you have the rack so far forward as the pedals won't be in the way at the point of your feet placement. I'm basing these off of my import front suspension and other cart plans. But keep it up we all learn from our mistakes

I appreciate the feedback! So the steering column I got was too long, and I’m ordering a shorter steering rack and breaking it 45 degrees or so so that I can bring the pinion back more. I didn’t know the tie rods needed to be at pivot point but it’s a good thing I’m already redoing it. This was just a Mach up. But the pedals say they are 12” tall and I had 12” where my feet were, but it immediately dropped to like 7” as I move towards the front of the kart because the angle that the column was at was too sharp. With the new setup I’ll basically 45 deg cut down to the floorboard of the kart so the pinion will be closer to the control arms. Thank you for that info tho i will definitely take it into consideration when im replacing the position of everything!

@Yamahoss yea look at some of KJ RACING CART BUILDS. he has nice idea of movable peddles. Could be a great idea to help out instead of recruiting the cart up.

Hi, you're trying and it looks good ok, what is the purple steer-bearing hanger is it a standard rod end bearing?

That purple Steering Bearing/Heim came with the collapsable steering column I ordered from Speedway Motors. It has some room for play and it seemed to work great on the kart for what its intended purpose is. The collapsable shaft size is 1 1/8" but I haven't found a Heim that size (only 1 1/4), but I ordered a 3/4" straight shaft to angle the steering shaft down 45degrees or so at the end of the collapsable column. Speedway also sells 3/4" heims that I will use to stabilize that 3/4" straight shaft on that downward angle where it will meet the pinion.
