One thing I forgot to mention is his rotation can be a little tricky. I’ll include rotation guides in future video.
You can start with this and optimize and change up based on enemies from here. I’m sure the comments will have more suggestions. You may want to swirl later in rotation so lyney can get that buff linger.
1. Lyney charge attack OR Bennet skill
2. Kazuha skill and burst
3. Bennet burst, skill
4. Xiangling burst skill
5. Lyney charge attack 1-2 times, burst to tag enemies, cancel burst with skill, charge attack
repeat
I might just be based because I love him, but playing him has been some of the most fun I've had in a while. His scaling is insane, and the fact all of his talents do good damage is incredible. I'm working on triple crowning him.
A video about which characters need 90 and which characters are ok staying at 80 would be amazing. I always feel confused about that. Thank you!

Everyone is *okay* to leave at 80, just some of them benefit a lot more from being 90.
The short version is that if a character heavily scales off of a stat beside ATK, then you should level them to 90 if you play them a lot. This is because ATK is the only stat that barely increases after 80, and also every elemental reaction beside melt and vape does a lot more damage at 90 too.
It'd be like a 3 minute video, not that that's a bad thing.
That doesn't need a video, it can be solved in a medium-sized comment (like this one lmao)
You can level them to 90 if they're focused on transformative/additive reactions, scale on HP/DEF or if you're SURE you're gonna use them a lot.
Otherwise (for example they scale on ATK, only do multiplicative reactions/no reactions at all) you can keep them at 80 👍

If you know the right rotation, he can put a giga nuke from his Elemental skill. First 3 charge + Elemental Burst then cancel it before it pops, then use all Elemental bursts of other characters then switch back Lyney do 1charge shot and lastly use Elemental skill.

As a Lyney enjoyer who simply dont like to play Xiangling I am 100% joining the cope train for Arlecchino and Murata
You can always slot in C6 Amber, Wolves Gravestone/tenacity Dehya, C4 TTDS Yanfei, or use a geo and anemo unit together.
Xiangling isn't necessary. She just can help with off field damage, but so can others.

@@DelfyDaun A world where you actually invest into the characters you enjoy using star glitter, or a world where you happen to pull them on standard banner.
C6 starters have been out for over a year now via star glitter. But people would rather use it to obtain more event wishes than invest into starters since many of them are misunderstood by the community.
You also don't know what other people have, so the suggestion is always there Incase they may have it. Not everyone wants to play the same 3 broken characters constantly or even likes those characters, nor do they have those characters c6 either.
I also never said c6 Amber was a standard. It exists and therefore can be suggested in case someone potentially has it or actually invested in the character.
I think Lynette is very good with his mono pyro team. Doesn't need grouping that much and even shields because of every taunting hats on the field and more pyro
I agree! While her first passive isn't fully used, I think the value from her taunt and swirl ability more than makes up for it. I'm able to play him without a sheilder and not get hit due to having both him and his sisters taunt being on field
She isn’t good for him, but she’s anemo soo… but she is one of the worst anemo options. For defense, use a healer like jean or sayu and not her taunt, especially since he can do taunts himself. For VV, literally any other anemo character works so whatever. And though he doesnt _need_ grouping per se its still useful like every character. The only real reason you would use her is for using the siblings. Or because you don’t have other options since shes free. But even anemo mc is better because he shreds defenses so no she sucks.
Let ppl play how they want to play him. Ecspecially if it's the outside the Abyss.
@@RedditorStoriess I didn't say she's the best pairing but their kit together makes it easier to play around many enemies and be safer even if there's no shielder. Plus you already have bennet as a circle healer so having jean is a bit redundant and you want to be in long range so sunfire isn't that used.
They're a good pair, not the best but still they compliment each other
Lyney looks to me like he was tailor made for anyone new to Genshin - you get Bennett for free, Xiangling from the Abyss, and Lynette for free. That's Lyney's support cast right there and they're all free and obtainable early on. So if you jumped in right now, you could build him and his team without too much trouble, especially at low AR. That being said, Lyney's optimal team is also Tartaglia's optimal team. I think Tartaglia has stood the test of time and is arguably one of the best nuke characters in the game. Tartaglia is re-running in like two weeks, so, if you haven't pulled for Lyney yet, I'd wait for Tartaglia, and even if you're brand new, get the free Bennett, get the free Lynette, and then use Amber or Xiangling for your last pyro slot, and then pull for Tartaglia instead of Lyney.
If money doesn't matter - i.e., if you're whaling - pull for Lyney and Tartaglia and Yelan and Zhongli and enjoy 3 of the strongest characters in the game. :P
The only down time for Tartagalia against lyney is the proper rotation and not over extending as the CD of Childe skills is quite punishing, Lyney is more easy to play that is the up for him but if you got good skills Tartagalia would be rewarding.
Though from my exp I much enjoy and feel Lyney is stronger due to the weapons I have and artifact. Never had a good heart of the depth.
Quite right,@@kkaon4149 . Tartaglia is not that easy to use. Lyney on the other hand asks one question: Can you aim? If so, then pull, pull, pull!

@@omu5560 In 4.0 you got him for free. Otherwise, you can get him from the Starglitter Shop. He's "free" because you can use your Starglitter to buy him.
Outside of his value in spiral, the most important thing is that he's really fun to play as far as bow users go, on an exploration team he feels effective too, the ability to drop a taunt anywhere has amazing strategy benefits.
Ended up getting him in one multi at 30 pity so I went on the weapon banner since I have yelan already and I wanted to fill out my weapon index for more options. Now I have Lyney and his Signature!

I wish we'd get a sidegrade to Benny, like you said, but just. . . remember what happened when we got a sidegrade to Xingqiu, and then dual hydro happened.
. . . I think Hoyo assumes that would happen. Still, I'd absolutely love a Yelan equivalent for Bennett.

Thank u for this video cause I feel like a lot of people has been very harsh on him idk why but lyney is clearly a very strong dps that make mono pyro a good team. It’s honestly one of the hardest choice already have yelan but her cons are strong and going for maybe c1 or c2 look very tempting but at the same time I like lyney kit and aesthetic so much

He is 1 of the good example of what luxury character should be. You definitely don't need him but if you want him, he will do his job very well in his own team.
For me, I skip bc I want Furina and maybe Neuvillette. Also, I like playing the game without Bennett or Xiangling, so I would rarely play him if I got him.
I pulled his weapon banner tho bc I want good 5* bow for my Ganyu and both of them are good for her. Luckily, I got both of them.
Then you can put Aqua on Fischl (or Childe if you have him, but if you're a Bennett-Xiangling denier, I highly doubt it) as Yelan prefers Fav
@@oliviaaargh Right now, I put Aqua on Ganyu bc I just maxed level it and I have to grind material for Lyney's sig first. I plan to put Lyney's sig on Ganyu and Aqua on Yelan bc my Yelan is C1.
@@oliviaaargh BTW, IDK if I'm a full Bennett-Xiangling denier or not bc I don't use them + Xingqiu and Kazuha just to make abyss a bit limited and challenging. But, I still use them in score based combat event tho.
I've been playing Lyney with kaeya and I've been having so much fun with that

This was literally the best time for me to get Lyney. I got Amos' Bow on Baizhu's release (yes I did save up 127 fates f2p for Baizhu, don't judge me) I've spent a long time perfecting how to do aim shots because I wanted to know how to play a dps bow character, AND his kit gets rid of artifact rng, AND his weapon banner is insane, so-
Maybe when Natlan comes out Lynney will improve both with regards to team combs and alternatives for artifacts

This is my thoughts as well looking at the game direction as their creating mechanics that would not overlap nor power crept the previous mechanics. For sure some unique support would be out there as Fontaine is heavily based with charge attack and artifact that buffs their mechanic of losing hp bit by bit so maybe Furina would take him to a higher level.
I mean yeah sure the nation of pyro makes sense but that wont be for awhile but from what it seems he's not too bad.
I am amazed you farmed him up so fast. I can tell he will be good but i am a long ways away from getting him even to usable! He does play well with Lynette since Lynette is fine as discount Kazuha. Love them in mono pyro!

Okay hear me out… he’s like a weird bow version of Heizou.
Where Heizou likes building up his Declension stacks, Lyney likes building up his hat stacks. Both use their elemental skill to consume their stacks and deal relative damage based on the stacks built. I was wondering why I was having so much fun with him and realized this was the reason.

Nah, he's just a 5 star version of Amber.
Has a taunt, can trigger the taunt and make it deal AoE damage. It's just that for Lyney if you don't trigger it it will deal single target damage.
sacrificial bow is very fun to use on him. Damage can be better with other weapons yeah, but i care about fun, not damage
I love lyney his lore & design it annoys me so much that he's getting so much hate from weird chinease men who are saying he acts too "gay"..
Western players who have a warped sense of what a good character is, also trash him. They think the only valid type of team is reaction damage. They dismissed Lyney the moment they saw mono pyro (along with him not being a waifu). My underleveled Lyney is already keeping up with vape Hutao damage total and is on par with Ganyu for his charge shots without a Bennett buff, only relying on his mono pyro passive.
China, Japan, and rest of Asia region is cool with Lyney's character design.
It's specifically Korea that has a problem, due to how pervasive conservative anti-feminist (and anti-adjacent "woke" like LGBT) sentiment is, even among the younger gen.

Im loving running him with baizhu bennet and xianling with him the seemless shields double his burn dot and works perfectly with his charge drain and plus thrilling tales go brr with noblese
I really like your content, thanks for the great video. I really like your approach. I am a newer player, and at this point of the game I was working on my second team for the abyss.
I was going to pull yelan.
But then I saw and tried Lyney and now my second team is mono pyro. Is it practical? No. Do I love this character? Yes, he is my favourite now. I might not be able to clear every abyss, unless I get more characters, but I’ll be having so much more fun while doing it.
I'm so happy that I managed to win the 50/50 for him. I wasn't going to have enough to guarantee him since last banner was the one I saved up for. But not only did I manage to get him without having to wait for his rerun, but I also got some decent artifacts for his set. I spent almost a month prepping artifacts for Wanderer, and now I have a Lyney with better stats than Wanderer. Now I just have to level his talents up. lol Also getting his rotation down well. The charge attacks in the suggested rotation here will probably work better in Bennett's window than the other rotation I saw and was trying to do.
I'm currently running him with Layla for his 4th slot. I skipped Kazuha, so I don't have him. I'm working on leveling Lynette. Even though my Faruzan artifacts are good, my Sucrose ones still aren't. I really like her, but her EM artifacts don't like me. Lynette can at least borrow Faruzan's.
For his weapon, I'm using Viridescent Hunt. He only has one roll of crit rate on all of his artifacts, so his crit rate ends up around 56% with Viridescent and before it goes up with his artifacts. Not counting only a few artifacts, crit rate just hates me.
I've never pulled on weapon banner, but it would be tempting if I get enough for a five star before the banner ends. I'm at 30 wishes atm. I only have two five star weapons, both catalyst. It's just I'd probably have to hope for more crit rate on artifacts while going for Fischl's for the 1:2, and I was planning on saving up for Venti next.
Hiii i got aqua today (i have yelan but i wanna use it for lyney) but i also lost my weapon banner thing so its 2/2, im f2p do you think should i just continue tryna get the first great magic for him or should i just accept aqua ?? there is no one i wanna pull coming soon
Hey could you make, (or point me to,) a video that discusses most common techs and tips for playing the game mechanically? I play on ps4, and ive heard about charge or sprint canceling, among many other "techs" but i have no idea how that woukd translate to gamepad.

It really depends. Look at your Asimon abyss fight, you are losing that 3 stars because you stick to the 'herd say' mono pyro team. Switching up team members depending on the enemy is the key to victory.
I use Zhongli with Archaic Petra instead of Kazuha in some situations and it works well enough to clear content. I would not use Zhongli without Archaic.
I really need to know. I've been using Thoma because I want a shield and a pyro user. Is it a good idea to switch Thoma for yanfei C4 with TTDS? It's like a buffer and a shield and it's pyro. Is it worth it tho? (I don't have zhongli :(. )
I’d say yanfei would be better ya. Because you don’t normal attack so Thomas shield will be paper
I accidentally pilled Lyney while trying to get Yelan on guarantee. I watched so many guides on how to build him and what team is best. So far I like your guide the best. It is clear, straight to the point and well spoken. Thanks for creating content for us Genshin players! PS: I get 1 shot killed in the open world with Lyney. I feel like wirhout Zhongli I die too often.
I've been running a 100% f2p no wishing challenge account and I'm confused on which out of all free weapons (craftable/chests/dialogue/fishing/quest rewards) are actually the most worth to get and invest in. Do you have any video like this or something similar?
i got so lucky with lyney, i lost the 50/50 from like no pity to just barely get him with all but ten od my wishes, put the last 10 on the weapon banner with no pity and got really lucky getting it. i also only been playing like 3 months and held off to do fishcls artifacts til the new ones so i just happened to be blowing a lot of resin on that his artifact set anyways. hes pretty cracked on my account now lol
Is xinyan a good shielded with lyney? I’ve been thinking about building her for his team so that he has a full passive stack without taking out a pyro what do u/y’all think
I've been hearing he's around a similar power level of Hu Tao, but doesn't use Xingqiu. Being separated from Xingqiu may or may not be a good thing depending on what you're fighting. But I'm skipping Lyney anyway.
He doesn't want Xingqiu but Bennett instead. While you can use Yelan in Xingqiu's place, there's no one can replace Bennett for him in term of big atk buff.
@@cardnacn6704 u cant use a c0 yelan in a hutao team tho, her hydro app just isnt enough. with dendro xinqiu has become wanted in almost any team whille bennett hasnt, which means ur xinqiu is freed for the second side of the abyss.
I use Hutao (with c1 and Homa) a lot and Lyney being still underleveled (not ascended past 80, with 6/6/6 (using Lavawalker and Aqua bow) talents already outdoes her with only one hydro on her team. Lyney gets so much damage bonus from being on mono pyro that it completely makes up for lack of reactions. Though when I use Hutao with double hydro her team does a little better simply because she has Yelan and Xingqiu on her side.
I rerolled this morning, and at AR 10 I rolled on his Banner and got him on my second single pull. My third pull was Lynette so I should have her at C1. Now I can either pull for his weapon or just sit on primos for a while. Win
He is amazing, I didn't plan to pull him I got lucky to get him in 10 pulls, another 10 got me his weapon. Ever since we are inseparable, he nukes the crap out of the enemies in few seconds

The most surprising thing to me is I know he's supposed to be like a single target charge attacker but the way his Aoe feels so strong and satisfying really got me second guessing if I even wanna charge attack 😂.
Wym he doesn’t have aoe if you don’t use his charged attacks and that’s how you get stacks to max his damage
@@Marz333 Well I went into his worse abyss and cleared the rift hound mobs pretty effortlessly using his burst and skill alone. I only "suffered" for the pyro lector and used ayato to handle that part. But the aoe damage once you have a grouper is pretty good.

Swaped *Ganyu* out of her Melt team and swaped *Lyney* into it: Got no regrets! It's _Waaay_ easier and comfier to play.
I did the same and it's actually been doing more dmg despite his under leveled talents. What funny is their stats aren't too different
Lyney does significantly more dmg in ST imo. And he can use Xiangling's Gouba to get res shred if there is no vv/zhongli. Ganyu's only advantage is her frostflake aoe, and her burst can be used with kazuha for mobbing.
Thanks for this great analysis. Since healing is important for Lyney to get more stack, would Jean be a good option as the 4th character in the mono pyro team?
as a healer who can use VV set, she will do fine, though she won't provide any additional bonuses or grouping like other anemo units can she can still work. Though Bennett leads to higher damage output, but Jean and Bennett have good synergy together if you are familiar with sunfire comps so that could be fun to try with Lyney.
Klees value vs lyney and basically anyone else is very hard to gauge for the same reason it has always been. Klee is mechanically intensive, and unless you learn to play her very optimally, she is extremely clunky. Her damage is vastly improved the more you optimize your gameplay as well. Klee can compete with or even surpass Lyney, but you cant just be a good player. You have to invest time and effort into learning Klee, which to many feels incredibly unrewarding and difficult. She will always be underrated in the meta because of this. But you could argue that if a character is impractically difficult for most players, that makes them worse. Its hard to say with her
I am an aspiring Klee main and I wonder if there's more to mechanical skill with Klee than jump canceling her charge shots/forward cancels for machine gun normals and just being real good at dodging, since you don't really have a shielder for her most optimal team?
Btw absolutlely loving Lyney and I think his kit is interesting but got Qiqi instead so I guess I'll keep waiting for the archon (got his bow though on my way to aqua, I guess Tighnari will make good enough use of it lmao)

For me personally, needing to learn to play a character 'mechanically' is much more rewarding than basically being able to play a character perfectly from the start (*cough*Ayato and Yoimiya*cough*).
@@Szczurzyslawa Baseline is just N1CJ; that and dodging are pretty much enough to play Klee well. Then you can learn N2CJ (or rather (N1W)x2-CJ if I were to describe it more accurately - W is for walk cancel; basically using N1 twice into charged attack and jump cancel) which is mainly for juggling. N1W spam (machine gun) is not really used often, I just use it sometimes for fun.
I think rosaria is really good in lyney teams. My circumstances might be far different considering c6 bennet. Lyney Bennett Rosaria (Zhongli dont like it because geo can lessen the aura element and snatch a reaction) Lyney Bennett Rosaria, (Sucrose or Mona both with thrilling tales.) Lyney has such a flexible rotation that he can choose to front load or backload his damage profile. In the case of forward melt front load it. A detail that most do not consider is that the hat stays on field if switching. Which given a quick application of cryo or erasing the initial pyro from the charged attack hitting an opponent enables forward melt. I havent considered him in a quick swap composition because him sharing the burden of contributing to dps requires a certain type of sub dps (xiangling, albedo,) that are not reliant on normal attack frequency such as xingqiu,yelan, beidou.

In your opinion, Hu Tao+Sig or Lyney and Lyney? I've been saving for Hu Tao because i just really love her. Already got all the mats for her ascension and talents. But now I'm not sure. I was originally gonna go for C0R1 Hu Tap but now I really want Lyney and I just got the Skyward hard from the previous weap banner. I only have R5 Dragon's Bane for Hu Tao but I'm not sure if that's strong enough. I just started playing this game thid April and only got to 36 star Abyss just today. I need some answers.
For reference I have completed Hu Tao team with Yelan, Xingqiu and Layla. I also have complete team for Lyney i even used Yelan National on the first time to 36 star it.
Hu Tao + Sig but not Lyney or Hu Tao and Lyney but no Homa
Hu Tao + homa is the easy choice imo

I noticed you're running double Fav in the Lyney team. Does lyney not generate enough energy for the team or is this a personal comfort choice? I dont like using FavonIus weapons
Without the double fav he probably can’t burst every rotation without a bunch more ER. You don’t NEED to burst every rotation but I like to it’s fun

I'm still building lyney, but I use him, I use a 3 star bow because it has crit damage, I'm building a crit lyney, and I say all weapons are good as far as you have what you're looking for. My unbuilt lyney did around 17k damage

I like bow characters, but I don’t think I’ll pull for him. His value feels REALLY low. Obviously he’s the “mono pyro” character so it would make you think he has similar value to Shenhe or Gouro, but I think the difference is that Gouro gave power to an underwhelming archetype while Shenhe is still meta/near meta outside mono cryo (like freeze, melt, and physical). Lyney isn’t particularly flexible and he’s being introduced to the element that needed a mono character less than all the other elements. The core of Xiangling, Bennett, Kazuha is so strong that mono pyro was already plenty strong for abyss 12. I play Diluc, Kazuha, Xiangling, Bennett in abyss 12 and it’s honestly the most satisfying and consistent rotation I’ve played (that or Raiden aggravate). To me, he seems more like a pull of you like him character, and unfortunately, there are a lot of characters I like coming up.
Ugh I like him a lot but I just got Yoimiya (early pity accident so Im happy) and don't use her... also have c5 Diluc already. If he wasnt so "monopyro only"... i hope some sort of benny team is possible.

A lot of his damage comes from skill and burst. And 36% crit rate plus 15% charge attack bonus is just way more stats than 35% damage bonus

@@GhostedbyHer yep that's why I'm skipping his character design(looks) and cool factor is not there for me. If you like his design, looks and gameplay that's the most important thing and to keep in mind upcoming banners childe and zhongli are up next if you want them more you may have to pass on him depending on how much you have saved, He would really shine and fit will into a mono pyro team due to his passive.

Would recommend bennett, xiangling, Lyney and an anemo support with the Viridescent Venerer set that gives elemental resistance shred when swirling. Which if you somehow managed to not pull bennett on the banner or do not have him there his a leak that he will be free in an upcoming event.
I’m really pleased to see though that he doesn’t go after Yoimiya’s niche. Was worried after the Noelle/Itto stuff (though ofc Lyney is a much more long awaited 5star)

What about Petra Zhongli? You can consistently get Pyro Crystallize
That is what I use when I use Zhongli with him. Normally my Zhongli uses tenacity but Lyney already gets so much attack from Bennett and Pyro resonance that he does not need the tenacity increase. It is a lower damage ceiling then Kazuha with VV but it is comfier and good enough to clear content because Lyney is so strong.

Good information, except for the fact that you said, there’s no reason to get him to level 90. If you’re going to put in all of the in game resources through his artifacts and talents, it is incredibly worth it to take him to level 90.

Eyy Jello I've been seeing a lot of videos and arguments comparing lyney to hutao... This and that etc... As for my own opinion yes Lyney is a very solid pyro dps with the right team.. Same goes for hutao.. But what they don't realize is they are both played differently... Some argue that lyney is handicapped because no access to vape but still dishes out big damage... Maybe that's because his kit entirely revolves around making a mono pyro team for him to maximize his passive... As for HuTao she needs a vape team to maximize her own damage... I don't see the why they always have to compare who's better... Its like comparing Eula to Ayaka... both have different kits but they're both cryo 😂
Yeah maybe for Hu Tao rerun I’ll do a proper comparison video for all pyro dps. I feel they fall in the same tier and from the math I think lyney is a little worse. But for me to actually draw a conclusion I’d have to do a LOT more testing
And I agree they feel so different to build and play comparing to Hu Tao was an afterthought to me
So many of the people calling Lyney weak/bad are the ones who are so focused on reactions being the only way to play. They also won't get Lyney so they will not see his damage for themselves they only listen to people like themselves. Lyney's mono pyro bonuses he gets are surprisingly enough to make up for lack of reactions, as a mono geo Itto team user, I can see just how amazing Lyney's kit is, mono geo is still viable even though it is not meta but if Itto had the kind of passives that Lyney does, he would be even more of a beast, Gorou basically has the support version of Lyney's passives. I can understand comparing characters because not everyone is willing to spend for characters if they are not needed so knowing how they compare is a valid concern. But unfortunately many people decided Lyney was bad before his release when they saw mono pyro (or they are a waifu simp) but those don't make them calling him weak valid, it just means they are allowed to not like his playstyle or him as a character.

I have nothing against Lyney as a character but gameplay wise tho...
He is not weak by any means but i personally think his setup and rotation takes way too long, i could live with that but..
The biggest reason why i won't be getting him is that he pretty much requires Bennett and to some extent XL....and i won't be using either of those, ever
I hate Bennett and XL playstyle is so boring and again, without Bennett, she kinda sucks
So yeah, because he kinda needs those 2 to function, it killed him for me
