    Glad to know I'm not the only one who found Luxire much too tight...my first pair was nearly unwearable and my second was based off of my Collaro measurements, but they were still too tight. With Luxire you really do get what you pay for-risk. Great review brother!

      Thank you! Collaro is certainly elite. I've since ordered one pair of trousers and one pair of jeans from them. I will have to review those soon too!

    Spier has double forward pleated Hollywood trousers...hope they'll be added to the comparison!

    Luxire has made all of my woolen flannel trousers since 2019 and I’ve never had an issue with fit. I send in a sample pair, in addition to having my tailor measure me. I highly recommend this approach. I’ll give Collaro a shot as well. Options are good. Great review 😎

    I tried Luxire for two pairs of chinos and neither of them turned out all that well. They used to have an awesome selection of pant and shirt fabrics but now there's a serious dearth and they're too expensive now. I no longer use Luxire, especially for pants and now will use O'Connell's for my odd trousers (excluding linen as they don't really have any). Though they have their quirks such being very expensive and not that many color options, I've enjoyed them way more so far. The color options are still fine and are actually great for me as someone who wants a sort of capsule wardrobe.
    Also between the two styles, I now vastly prefer double forward pleats on pants (O'Connell's uses these for their pleated pants). I used to hate how they look but now I have a pair of khaki cotton gabardine pants with them and they look great on me. Double reverse and single reverse pleats just didn't work for me. The double forward pleats you got from Luxire look too shallow and don't properly close.

      Yeah. I haven't used Collaro since those trousers.

  • @ronaldthered6650
    @ronaldthered6650 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Dont give up on trying forward facing pleats. The pants you got from Luxire were clearly undersized in the thigh and seat. This means your pleats are going to open up to compensate. The Luxire fabric was also raw denim, which can mean shrinkage.

    I tend to use Luxire for experimenting, and then I take the results of those experiments to Collaro for the finished product - like when I wanted to try gurkhas for the first time. Luxire *can* be a great value, but I feel like you have to be prepared for a lot of slop in the specs, which is frustrating when you only have $X.xx to spend.

    • @TheHulseyStyle
      @TheHulseyStyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's also frustrating because that's the exact point of MTO trousers. They are, at least in part, supposed to save you a trip to the tailor!

    Luxire is great once you nail the fit, but the endless possibilities to customize is also a bit of a pit fall. While I’ve yet to try Collaro, their website looks really nice and the styling options seem plenty. It looks like they have way less fabrics, but the ones they have are quite good.

    • @TheHulseyStyle
      @TheHulseyStyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true! It's almost a bit too many, so it's harder to make a choice. Collaro is indeed incredible!

    Thanks for testing and sharing your results! Been hearing a lot of Collaro lately but haven't tried. I have bounced between Luxire and some Italian and Hong Kong tailors over the years and still keep looking for others 😄 Have you ordered from Collaro again? Even with in-person measurements, I've received first garments from some tailors made too tight and it can be frustrating. With Luxire, I find that they can make whatever you want provided they understand the instructions but it can be hit or miss in some scenarios/styles. The average customer will not know what exact measurements or angles to provide while their pattern maker or whoever overseeing will not override it and we see some pretty funny results online. With micromanaging, one can get closer but there are some things I'd rather leave up to the shop's expertise. It's also hard to assess fit via photos. I prefer forward pleats and asked Luxire to increase their depth, hip, and seat over several iterations. Now the knee and calves remain too tight 😅

      I have ordered from Collaro again, twice. My satisfaction is about the same as with these Hollywood topped trousers. I plan on purchasing from them again...soon.

    I ordered 13oz Dark raw color from Luxire thinking it was Indigo. They are made perfect to spec but so dark. Next stop, Collaro, for a pair of deep indigo denim trousers.

    The collaro trousers are better. Your luxire ones drape similarly to mine. Look a tad bit off in the knee area. Collaro just drape better.

    • @TheHulseyStyle
      @TheHulseyStyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. I think it is partly because of the way I am standing, but the breaks are exacerbated by the type of fabric I chose. It is raw denim, so it is very stiff and starchy.

    What does the half waist mean when choosing size on luxires site?

    • @TheHulseyStyle
      @TheHulseyStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Literally what it sounds like. Half of your waist size. So, if you wear a 34, then your half waist size would be a 17.

    Hi, thanks for the review. I was just about to order a pair of trousers from Luxire but thought I'd check on TH-cam first, just to see what other buyers have said. I didn't know about Collaro so this comparison is very informative. Where on the Collaro site are you able to choose between the 'Classic' and 'Slim' options? Did you choose to have a 'break' on the trouser hem?

    • @TheHulseyStyle
      @TheHulseyStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the option for "classic" or "slim" is shown when you "create your own size" before check out. There isn't an option to choose a break or not, but you can choose what your inseam is, so that will determine whether or not there is a break.
