yeah its extremely difficult to understand and to get into contemporary music now, i just cant bring myself to enjoy pure atonality, although i do love when composers mix tonality with dissonance/atonality, like in the compositions of scriabin, prokofiev, ravel, debussy etc. but i agree this piece is amazing, and more enjoyable than any other contemporary music i can find
The 1900s-1950s had people like Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Shostakovich (sorry I only know Russian composers) who were quite popular with their contemporaries and it is proof modern(ish) people can enjoy classical music. I wonder why we don't know anyone like that in the present or rather they are only popular with an established circle.

wow, That's a great job, especially for a "quick composition" just to say, I'm working on a game. And that song, that song, just is soooo powerful I can easily imagine a scene with it... That's a great job
Beautiful composition! Saw someone else comment about it, but as a hornist, I'd probably die playing that line around 1:34. Specifically trying to hold that high B for so long, and after playing non-stop in the mid-high range since the horns' entrance. It's technically playable, but it'd be super taxing, and with how isolated the part is (since it isn't doubled with another instrument) and with how quiet the dynamic is, it'd be extremely difficult to be able to pull that off in an actual performance. A quick fix would to have another instrument double the part starting around 1:30, and then cutting the duration of the B in the horn part by at least a few beats and let the other instrument sustain the note. Just giving the hornist enough time to let their lips relax for a second or two and get a good breath to finish off the rest of the phrase would be a massive help. On the flip side, the horn writing during the vivace section is super idiomatic of the instrument, and would be extremely fun to play. Like, it's literally the kind of music a lot of us play horn for. While there's also some high-sustained parts in that section, it's easier (and less taxing) to play at the louder dynamic and the rests scattered throughout help too.
I cant understand how you managed to write this in a single night .... I feel like this would take me at least a month of writing just by the sheer ensemble size and song length. + The melodic structure and development sections ... This is really amazing you should write more at 3 A.M. 😭

How much more beautiful and divine they must be! I cannot fathom that. The piece is taut and well-structured for a six-minute ternary form. @@OctopusContrapunctus yeah baby, alcohol for a great music.
Love the orchestration in this piece! I was expecting the piece to return to A major at the end, but it still sounds great overall. Well done! (And if you ever revise this past what you wrote that night, I'd love to hear...)
I felt like the piece going to D major had a more uplifting quality, more intense, thank you for the nice comment❤
You can just casually churn stuff like this out at 3 a.m.? It sounds great👏
When I am in the right state of mind ofc, Thank you very much❤️
Awesome job these instruments sound insanely realistic! What VST's did you use to make this mockup?
Musesound from musesound
Really beautiful composition!
Thank you
Great. Harmony and textures are among the best I have listened to. I'm a Bruckner fan, by the way. Which score editor do you use?
Thank you, I use Musescore. Bruckner is not one of my fav. But he is amazing
Nice horn parts however not so easy to hold an high B for two measures at the beginning 😅
Yes thought that it might be tricky, thank you for the feedback
Bro nice
Thx🍻
Splendid composition, are these virtual libraries? If so, what library did you use to compose this one, thank you!
Yea it’s musesound by musescore, and thank you for the nice comment❤️
Damn. Hats off
Thx
@@OctopusContrapunctus ofc. Super impressive that you were able to do this in one night too. Keep composing!
The scrolling video works well when the music is slow, but I have trouble with the framerate when the music picks up. Have you considered switching it up visually when that happens?
Im still figuring out how to edit scores and how to make it interesting, so thank you for the feedback
Wow... love it.
Thx❤️
Very beautiful!! I really enjoy your style! For how long have you been doing compositions/arrangements?
I think started 3 years ago, but the 3rd year was a very intense year cause I had nothing else to do and that was the only thing that gave me comfort. So maybe 3 but it felt like 10
How is it that the most breathtaking compositions on TH-cam are advertised as memes, like good god, if I tried to write something like this, it would take me months. ☠️
TH-cam be Like: „not a meme?! than not important“
I have no idea how to make music, how long it took you to arrange that and how you made that. But it's just beautiful.
Good rest my soft-bodied, eight-limbed mollusc of the order Octopoda composer. (also, maybe one day we'll get an orchestral version of Helldivers 2 theme music?)
❤️🐙❤️( idk the piece,I’m gonna look into it)
@@OctopusContrapunctus I hope you will like it as much as I do !!!
holy shit
Cursed gold
Great composition! Is it possible to get the .pdf of your song to study the orchestration?
That’s a good idea, and I would love to
But I have no idea how to
This sounds amazing! So much emotion and “epicness” 🤌🤌 looking at so many cool comments from people who know what they’re talking about, I think this isn’t much, but thank you very much for composing this! Soooo cooool
I appreaciate the kind words as much as any other comment, thank you very much ❤️🐙❤️
wow. wonderful 💗
Thank you a lot, this is channel is just a collection side projects, so I am grateful for the kind words❤
This is super impressive!
Thx❤
Sounds like Dunkirk movie soundtrack in the beginning lol
I don’t have it mind, I’ll go check it out

Big compliment, thank you
what program do you use for your arrangements?
Musescore
This sounds amazing! Can you tell us a little bit about how your composing process looks like? :)
That’s a good idea, maybe that is could be a future video, thank you for the suggestion
I can't believe you composed this at 3 AM. This is really cool. I know you composed this with MuseScore 4 (I could hear the beautiful MuseSounds), but which software did you use to edit this video? This editing is really good!
Thank you very much, I used Davinci Resolve
@@OctopusContrapunctus interesting. I've never heard of this software before. I only use iMovie lol. I should check it out. Thanks!
What did you use to get the playback of the music?
Musesound of Musescore
MuseScore 4 right?
Yep
This is really cool!
Thank you very much
You inspired me to try to compose again. I’m curious do study composition or is it a hobby because this a wonderful.
I am a composition student. I try my best to do all types of styles from the late romantic to more Avantgarde composition
@@OctopusContrapunctus after listening to your works you’ve posted your doing an amazing job!
I just discovered this wonderful channel, did you try publishing some of your work? I would like to perform some of them if you are willing to do so (I am the percussionist/comductor at our uni orchestra)
I am still figuring everything out, but it would be wonderful ❤️❤️
@@OctopusContrapunctus anyway I can contact you regarding this? Maybe via email? I would love to introduce you to our orchestra
@@Youngei402tw theoctopuscontrapunctus@gmail.com
What notation system did you use? The voices are so good
Musescore with musesound library, and yes it’s awesome
It makes all the sense and no sense at the same time 🥰(🔫)
This is the best description to my music I have ever read
