I really think there is a market for no gimmick utilitarian locomotives that look good and are conventional control. This is definitely one of of those.

I very much agree with you. Good basic analog locomotives definitely have a place in the market. I have found it hard to find new williams engines. I have heard that parts for them are hard to get. I bought several of these during the Jerry Williams years and wish I had gotten more while I could have. Thanks for sharing.
I've personally converted one of these Williams locomotives to DCC and it's quite easy to do thanks to the electronic reverser and the included speaker, and even with the cost of the decoder it still ended up being less than a used one from Lionel or MTH.
I can relate a lionel postwar turbine weighs about 5 pounds I weighed mine a year ago but maybe it put on some pounds from all the smoke pellets it's been consuming
Have several Williams locos, all are reliable performers on my O-27 conventional pike. The 4-6-0 steamer is my favorite of the lot so far. Something to be said for a no-frills loco at a reasonable price, perfectly fine with conventional control over something like Lionchief or Legacy.

Williams made a lot of really solid trains, even well into the Bachmann Era. Too bad what's happened in recent years.
There's just something about those old EMDs that's just perfect, especially when amplified by the Nickel Plate Road paint job.

I LOVE Williams. The detail and quality is rather high, for how much you pay.
I have to admit, i was never the biggest fan of the GP30 (the 60M is the one for me), but I'm coming around to it.
