The tragic thing is Ardyn never wanted to be the bad guy. He is an example of the cruelty and negligence of gods to which nothing and noone has worth but themselves, not even kings, not even the most righteous man. The truth is Ardyn was too good, lesser men hated him for it and the gods abandoned him like that. "The higher you fly the harder you fall" - grotesquely true. Makes me bitter this story didn't have more of a backlash on the Astrals, but I guess it was the point of FF15: Gods aren't kind, nor are they merciful or just and we worship them because we must hope for the best... really dark conclusion.
Personally, I disagree with this a lot, especially after the new info we've gotten. If you look at the history, it's the other way around. The Astrals granted humanity the Crystal to help them. Ifrit only started to hate humans after THEY turned against HIM. Ardyn was a victim of cruelty and betrayal, but that was from his brother, not the Astrals. The Astrals turned against Ardyn really only after he turned daemonic when Somnus drove him to that point. Honestly, PEOPLE have ALWAYS been at the base of the cruelty. Humanity rebelled against Ifrit after he helped them. Somnus took control of the throne and cause what Ardyn became. When it comes do down it... everything can be traced back to horrible human beings, not the Astrals.

Bahamut gave not a single fuck about him, he only cared for having a vessel to contain the illness his chosen king could then destroy. And Ardyn totally took off his hat and went with it. Angrily, begrudgingly and venomously, but he accepted his fate. He died for the task and took two entire bloodlines and most of humanity with him to the grave as he raised both middle fingers to the gods in passing.
this makes want an ardyn dlc so damn bad. Like seriously how much of him self has he seen in the other kings let alone noct. and how truly far he had to push so he could finally rest. he may be the bad guy but he will be one of the best ones in final fantasy history.
Sammeeee right? I want to know so much about him and his backstory ughhhh. I heard they're going to go into his backstory a bit in the future, but I'm not sure if that means they're going to add some cutscenes or go more in depth with a dlc, but I guess we'll see, right? :'D

How have I not seen this by now?? The timing and visuals going along to the lyrics were so incredible! And the way you portrayed Ardyn was just absolute quality, it really showed off that part of his character that is so rarely seen in game!

The fact that a line says they fight every night makes me realize that every single person has to bring the world to this end when they play the game, essentially keeping a cycle to restore order forever and causing them to really fight every night in the game It also shows that it's just cruel to force what's well over a thousand deaths because the player can't save these people

I love Ardyn's character and I loved episode Ardyn a lot. :) But I wonder, some like to argue we are seeing an unreliable story as it is Ardyn telling it. However the Narration from the female voice at the beginning and present at parts and the very end suggest someone else is telling his story and these events, something of which no other episodes did might I add. So I argue we are being told about Ardyn rather then Ardyn telling us his own story, it may seem like he is because we play as him in the episode but it doesn't mean he's the one telling us the tale. Having said that though that just makes everything all the more credible as if Ardyn isn't the one telling us his perceptive then it gets rid of him possibly being an unreliable narrator. But that's just a little thing I noticed, wether it means something or not is debatable but it's still notable and food for thought regardless I think. :) (Of course I could be misremembering stuff about there not being Narration in other episodes but I'm fairly certain there wasn't.)
