      It must be nice having a rock tumbler no joke I took a jar put some babies and rocks Intuit took my change threw it in and walked around the neighborhood for 2 hours as I tumbled it in my hands and shook it actually worked no I'm not joking I'm that nuts I've been doing this for about two years end I have 5 rings 2 got returned the only thing more hysterical is I found all my stuff with a Garrard 300 if you didn't know that's $200 detector with no ground balancing I'm really slumming it🤣

      Haha nice one! Nothing wrong with the Garrett 300 if you are hunting the dry sand. Might get a little angry in the wet 👍

    though I had some problem with sea water It also th-cam.com/users/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

    Another good hunt. In the detector stability, If i get that water hunting with the black sand, I turn on the auto ground tracking on the Nox. Seems to help. In fact I always run that. Makes the nox way more stable. I think default in beach modes is zero, so try that. That chain is great. Looks titanium to me,and by those markings Id say it is too. You inspired me to go on another beach hunt tomorrow. Sydney had some huge sea swells this week, up to six meters and high winds. All calm now so perfect to go check for cuts to hunt.

    Great video mate. Excellent selection of finds. I can’t get on with the 15 inch coil. I’ve tried but it’s a sod to pin point with and I find I have to drop the sensitivity a lot to stop if falsing. As for a stable water machine, go back to the Excal. I will never get rid of mine. In fact I’ll be out with it next time. GL. Jason.

    • @BeachPirate
      @BeachPirate  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Jason, I quit using my Excal because it was also too noisy. I am beginning to think that maybe there is a problem with the wiring. I am hearing you about pinpointing the 15 inch.. ugh! Might put the 11" back on and see if it runs a little quieter. Good luck! :)

    Do you ground balance before each time you metal detect? Tie a string to the various types jewellery you usually find in the water to check your wether you've ground balanced the detector the present enviroment, then check to see what happens with the various jewellery, also check your waterproof plug is completely screwed in and water tight, and use a silicon grease on the neoprene "O" ring/s so their not pinching or chaffed, Garret have a similar problem if the coil or earphone plugs aren't sealed properly an you have to get any salt water residue out and dry out the connections for a few days, that's about all I can think of, apart from a dud coil or a crack, and from what of seen on other TH-cam metal detectorist shows black sand will through your ground balancing out if you don't sypher that into it, and maybe a slighty smaller coil, big ones might be a bit of a workout in water,
    Cheers👍🇦🇺👍🇦🇺👍👍

    • @BeachPirate
      @BeachPirate  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tim, I am hunting underwater now with the 11" coil. You are correct, it is more stable than the big one. I always run auto ground balance. Thanks for watching 👍

  • @philbobaggins8603
    @philbobaggins8603 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    the 15 inch coil is less stable than the 11 inch. I dive with my equinox and it is very stable you will have to turn the sensitivity down to the teens even on beach 2 but if you want to give a pi a go try the sea hunter mk2 that's what I used prior to the equinox and it's a great machine and very deep with the 14 inch coil. All PI machines will be unstable as well when the water depth changes during a swing and are best used going in and out of the water or perpendicular to the shoreline rather than parralell to it.

    • @BeachPirate
      @BeachPirate  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Philbo, thanks for your feedback. I had the Nox turned down to 16 sensitivity and it was still chatty. Seems to run better on the days with less current and uneven sand surface. Here I was thinking you can run the PI Machines hot in the water and get back the depth you lose on a VLF.

    BP, have you looked into the White's TDI Beach metal detector that Ed The Beach Hunter uses?, it is made for salt water metal detecting, check out the reviews. one more thing, in the Nox 800 manual, look at page 51 Recovery Speed, the Nox 800 has a default setting 6 for beach mode, at the bottom of the page, on the right side, it states that if you are experiencing high level of ground noise at the beach, or when detecting underwater, try increasing the Recovery Speed to reduce the noise. It is also possible to vary both swing rate and Recovery Speed to help minimize ground noise. Now back to your hunt, that was heavy chain, looks like you had a great hunt, thanks for taking me with you.

Once I got my Excaliburs it made hunting in the water a lot more fun and with the Anderson shaft it is so balanced I can swing it all day. Don't get me wrong, I love the pulse detectors but I like spending my time and energy digging treasure. HH and GL

    • @BeachPirate
      @BeachPirate  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jim, not sure why but I had this idea that the PI Machines are more stable at depth in the saltwater. I have to really turn down the power on the Excal and Nox to stop the falsing and lose lots of depth. I am only finding surface targets and mostly sub 2 gram rings right now. Just out of range of the heavy stuff 👍

    • @hattrickjim
      @hattrickjim 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a pulse detector is more stable in salt water. I can run my Nox at 18 with the 11" coil in the water. The bigger the coil the less stability in the water. I have to run my Excalibur 2 with the 10" coil at 7 where as with my Excalibur 800 with the 8" coil I can max out.

    • @fartzinacan
      @fartzinacan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BeachPirate For the most part, yes. There may be some falsing when the coil would go in and out of the water. If it would get too chatty, the battery pack could be going dead, it could be interference from something nearby, or it needed to be tuned for the local conditions. You can adjust a few things on it to keep the background noise to a minimum. The knobs are easy to operate in water.
      I've never had a metal detector that was always quiet. For the times it was quiet for too long, I would always get worried it was broken.

      That's for sure. Hey when you put those pics up of what you found for the day, just for the hell of it, can you put what metal it is by chance? Ya if you know what it is. I like to research stuff like that. I know u recover it all in the end. Just curious if u could add it to there. If u don't know what is just put a ? For it? Just a thought.

      Hey mate, I had to change up hunting strategy. I was finding nothing for months as the beach sanded in. So now I am only searching for fresh drops out deeper in the swimming nets. I check the beach the night before for crowds, especially for events.. have found Sunday afternoon/Monday morning to be the most successful times. The beaches are not that clean here, but out deep things are okay. Also the fact that there are no coins means no digging deep targets and more energy for digging goodies. See you on the next hunt 👍
