      Lol @@eddyspagetti9899, the point you and Dalton both "glazed over" over was the fact that Scott only asked *if* people "get into trouble" as a result of these "interrogations", not *who* performed those prosecutions. Your pretentious comment just exposes an unfortunate 'truth' about yourself.

    If you've ever gone to the mechanic or the doctor, you recognize that we have to have a certain amount of trust in other people so that we don't spend our entire lives trying to learn everything from scratch. And that makes our society possible. To take advantage of that necessary trust, and to mistakenly think that it's because you're smarter than everyone else, is something only a delusional piece of shit would do. A delusional piece of shit who would break down the whole basis of modern society. And that my friends, is what is sitting there answering those questions.

    If Trump has absolute legal freedom of speech to threaten to kill or imprison or hurt judges and police officers and politicians then so does every single other person who was born without their prior consent, no matter if some judge or jury or court labels them a "criminal" or a "convicted criminal" or a prisoner. ALL prisoners are prisoners of war. Sorry, judges, cops, etc the well-being and freedom -- freedom from suffering in prison -- of animal rights activists and climate warriors and worker unions is infinitely more important than the law or nationalism. Judges and prosecutors and lawyers will have NOTHING to whine or complain about when EVERYBODY ELSE takes the law into their own hands and puts THEIR freedom and what THEY think is FAIR above what some cop or judge says "the law" is. @tareewoods2434

    The Affordable Care Act is a sham.

  • @xyzsame4081
    @xyzsame4081 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    So in the U.S. they have aggressive hearings about cost shifting and the cost models of ACA (which admittedly is hardly better than the former mess). - European countries after WW2 ALL adopted (or expanded existing) healthcare systems leaning heavily in the direction of non-profit, for public welfare - and of course for everyone. (Even the nations of the Warsaw pact which were poorer had public healthcare for everyone).
    Even nations that just stopped being mortal enemies (Germany, France, UK for instance) agreed on one thing: healthcare is on principle a terrible fit for the free market (complete imbalance of power between consumers and providers, natural monopolies) AND the usual incentives in a capitalistic system are toxic in the area of healthcare and produce inefficiency - and a hassle for the patients.
    Fast forward 70 years: per capita healthcare expenditures in those wealthy nations in USD: starting with 4,200 to 6,000, with some outliers * - the U.S. has 9,200 (World Bank 2014).
    * USD 3,900 for the UK but their main player the NHS got their already lean budget cut over 10 years by the conservative Tories - the system is clearyl underfunded now - but I think with 50 % of the U.S. per capita expenditures it would work like a charm. And Norway and Switzerland have costs like the U.S. (but with high living costs which of course mean also higher wages - a major factor for healthcare costs. That said: they are rich nations with excellent healthcare and everyone has it. Especially the Swiss have a reputation of paying their healthcare staff, incl. nurses, therapists very well, for that reason they attract a lot of staff from Germany).
    On top of that most of these nations have an older population on average (so the U.S. should beat them on demographics).
    AND their life expectancy and infant mortality is lower. (Child mortality is an indicator of how the system works for low income people.)
    P.S.: I am lucky enough to live in one of those wealthy nations. Healthcare insurance is just not an issue. No one even thinks about it.
    Everyone has it, when you get sick or need an appointment you expect - and get - treatment or a date. Same as everyone else - meaning if they want to cut that, the whole country would get the pitchforks.
    No "divide and conquer" between those with good and not so good policies, the old or young, those who work full or part time. (Also provisions for people that have no job, for instance stay at home parents, people who take a sabbatical, etc.)
    The insurance agency (or agencies) is public and non-profit - so they have no incentive to deny treatment. Their role is to facilitate the functioning of the whole system, collect the money and take care of the payments to those who deliver the services.
    They negoatiate: with non-profits (almost all hospitals) and with for-profit actors (doctors are like small entrepreneurs, the 70 - 80 % that have a public contract have many regulations and a negotiated price list. The powerful multinationals - the pharmaindustry - have an equally powerful counterpart to deal with. The patients do not get an invoice.
    You pay your mandatory affordable contribution (wage deduction, it is matched by the employer). It is affordable (as % of the wage). it covers dependent family members and it covers everything (even very costly procedures).
    No one cares about pre existing conditions or current illnesses. It does not matter. And these insurance costs are known in advance - no costs when you need treatment, no unpleasant financial surprises when you already have a health problem.

    *If you look back at all the Congressional hearings and Oversight committees* and realize maybe 1% of the issues get any resolution then why have these? What good does it do? For example over 20 years ago Government Reform CONFLICTS OF INTEREST AND VACCINE DEVELOPMENT--PRESERVING THE INTEGRITY OF THE PROCESS One paragraph "Gee, this is all going to be public eventually, it's going to be out there. Her employer had
    grants of $75,000 from American Home Products for rotavirus, $404,000 from NIAID, a number of grants for rotavirus, NIH, $355,000 for rotavirus, $55,560 fee from Merck for rotavirus vaccine, Wyeth Lederle, $10,420 fee for rotavirus, and $5,400 for Norwalk virus vaccine. Come on!...." Was there reform? No! Now its the same with Dr Fauci and Pfizer. Nothing gets fixed, it's all about money, greed and power. If we only had a President that fixed things oh, yeah I forgot, they just get rid of the best ones, can't do your job in Washington and survive!

    I’ve really begun to see a pattern with representatives and senators asking people questions. They, more often than not, ask a question that incriminates the person they’re asking, and then that person begins the answer by defending themselves and then the representative or senator cuts them off.
    I’m not saying everyone is innocent in these things, I’m saying that congress’s push to bring justice ends up having a paradoxical effect.

    "In criminology, state crime is activity or failures to act that break the state's own criminal law or public international law. For these purposes, Ross (2000b) defines a "state" as the elected and appointed officials, the bureaucracy, and the institutions, bodies and organisations comprising the apparatus of the government. Initially, the state was the agency of deterrence, using the threat of punishment as a utilitarian tool to shape the behaviour of its citizens. Then, it became the mediator, interpreting society's wishes for conflict resolution. Theorists then identified the state as the "victim" in victimless crimes. Now, theorists are examining the role of the state as one of the possible perpetrators of crime (Ross, 2000b) whether directly or in the context of state-corporate crime." -Wikipedia

      Obama was incredibly deceitful and dishonest about his failure. I don't appreciate the notion that just because you got yourself out of bankruptcy, Obamacare is a success! It's not. The people who spend their life at home, not working, and reaping benefits off the back of others, and totally oblivious to the corruption that took place to get Obamacare passed is sad.
      But I'm sure the rest of us here will sleep better tonight because you got to see a doctor. (Sarcasm)

    • @eBrigid
      @eBrigid 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bev Cutter I don't know. Who hired you? The TRUTH is that Obamacare is corporatism--corporate fascism, if you don't understand that economic system then look it up. There are still just as many uninsured people as there were before this disaster. And it penalizes the already financially struggling population in the middle of a record unemployment and economic slump which has been going on for years now--those who simply cannot afford to pay the rates are facing $695.00 government fines for not having private insurance. Those who lost their affordable insurance or had their work hours cut to below 30 hours are also being massively financially penalized. And those who are unfortunate to have policies with $6,000 deductibles per person in their family essentially don't have insurance for the first 6k they spend in a year. There were individual changes that could have been made to health insurance in this country without creating an unsustainable system that threw people off their insurance in the middle of cancer treatments, or causing them to lose their doctors, without enriching the private insurance industry whose stock prices have soared and brought them windfalls undreamed of in the form of a steady revenue flow from the federal government via the taxpayer. What they should have done was expand Medicare/Medicaid, but instead they reduced payments to providers to the point where some of them have had to drop Medicaid/Medicare patients entirely or face going broke, further restricting access to health for the people who need it most. Every poll in the land shows Dems don't stand a chance to win in 2016, considering they can either nominate a criminal or an aging lunatic going around telling everyone that his plan is to raise taxes on everyone, while Trump's plan is to allow people earning below $25,000 a year as a single person and families earning below $50,000 a year to pay NO federal taxes, while at the same time going after hedge fund managers and other %-ers by closing the loopholes that allow them to evade taxes.

    Agreed, Colossal Douche. The fictional character "Forrest Gump" had a developmental-condition. Calling him the ultimate "successful idiot" shows amazing insight into his complete lack of character and integrity. It is no wonder that such a person could exercise such an outstanding amount of disrespect and lack of decorum in the public forum.
