I love this family. They actually taking responsibility for the education of their children, there family & each other. Their kids are learning more as well, they are traveling so that's a field trip every other day if not every day. This is really awesome & I just love it.
Adriana Reyes. dont agree..i lived in a 7 bedroom 3 bath house..and our families love was very detailed. sooooooooooo im not in agrreance with you on this one.
I grew up with not much stuff BUT loads of family time together and fun. The best thing you can give your kids is you love, time and attention. NOT STUFF
my mother inlaw seems to think that having a child in a small home is abuse. wtf well looks like she will never see my son again. i cant believe people are so stupid. you have a very nice family thank you for sharing.
+Val Tozer there are always haters. And sometimes those haters are family members, which is horrible. Just keep being a good father to your son, that's all that matters! Good luck, friend!
Val Tozer I'm building a school bus for my family of three to live in and my family told me we will basically be trailer trash and I'm like "okay, I guess you're not allowed to see our cool house on wheels or take trips with us"
I think their space is just perfect for them. Children don't need so much. We just tend to think they do and the same can be said about adults. Thanx for sharing!
I really love how you utilized all the space. I agree that kids grow closer being in small spaces. :-) You might expand the beds when they are older ... I love the idea of adding curtains when they are older for privacy.. You rock!
I'm so inspired. I have two boys and husband. Still renting and probably won't make the big leap for another couple of years, but this is great info! I subscribed!
i think you should give the kids curtains for their bunk beds like its their own room, i have seen a lot of parents do that for their kids when they have a tiny house
I love this video! what an inspiration... I do have a trailor and 2 kids...this gave me some new idea how to make the most out of the space:)) thank you!!
I love this, families today do nothing together, we live in a single wide trailer and to some that would be crowded but we are a close family and I give a Lil credit to our small space :)
I bet they'll have such fun memories!!! If you think about it in the olden days kids probably lived in a lot smaller spaces than that with their siblings and that was just the norm
whats the plan when they get too tall for the bed? looks like they are already there or close to. but for when they get to like 15 or something? or is this short term?
+Big Family Tiny House I was wondering how do you manage family dining and preparing meals for a family of 6, I can't imagine you have much storage for food.
New subscriber here showing support really like your family and you have done an amazing job I completely agree kids just need love and attention to thrive not stuff and not a huge house. We are a five person family who lives in a three bedroom into my amazement after watching this video I actually thought we needed a bigger house. I also realize something else bedrooms are truly for sleeping we are hardly in our bedrooms at all that makes a lot of wasted space. Feeling very enlightened by your video
Kids can go outside for space, use their imaginations for stuff. I agree with you. In the world not everyone has large rooms and lots of stuff but they are happy.
+Indykitty1 Thank you! I'be never once seen any data to suggest that more stuff = more happiness, but I have seen data suggesting that spending money on experiences instead of stuff will make you happier!
I think the children have more than enough toys and stuff. Definitely more than my children - and we live in a big house! But I dont buy them toys too often. They get some for their birthdays and for Christmas - and that is it. And before they obtain one toy, I usually go through their toy boxes and throw away several older ones. Because it is our philosophy - not to hoard things. We dont need things to be happy. So if there is anyone who tells you that kids need a lot of stuff, then do not listen to them. It is not true. Kids need their parents love, time and attention. The quality of time spent together is so much more for them than if the parents gave them a Barbie doll or a plastic car. Because the time spent with their parents and siblings and friends is what they will remember for their entire life. Not toys...
very cute room love how u set it up. never thought 4 kids can fit in a small room but u totally proved me wrong lol can we see the kitchen and livingrom area please
In Europe my friends in Italy had three floors. Basement kitchen. First floor restaurant bath rooms. Top floor windows open three rooms. Mom and papa. Girls and then boys room. The kids job was self motivated to keep mom and Papa separate they already had 11 children.
so cool, I live on a 50 foot yacht which has 2 bed cabins a map room turned nursery galley and living area saloon , people get so stressed out by it my mum was horrified that the hospital would allow us to take her home to a boat. we had a health nurse check it out whilst pregnant to ensure it was save and sanitary and 2nd we get sick of view we move
Beans I love your window dressing!!! I just found your channel and we are feeling inspired. We also have 4 children 1 yrs - 5yrs and we are starting to downsize to do this exact thing. This video has given me some really great ideas... especially the crib. Your children are so lucky to have such a great lifestyle. Looking forward to more videos.... living room tour!!!! I'd love to see a video on what your daily life is like.... how does everyday stuff function in your home... making dinner, playtime, school? Again great adventure!!!
I agree kids don't need a lot of stuff because they don't respect their things or even know what they have when they have too much... HOWEVER... We are looking to upgrade from 2500 sq feet to over 3,000 because I want us to have as much space as possible. I feel claustrophobic just watching this🙊 I mean, for camping it would be awesome... But not for every day. Just my feeling.
Lovely Tiny house! But I can`t help wondering what happens when they are teenagers and really need some space of their own? I am thinking about getting at Tiny Home myself, but I think my two boys would really like to have their own rooms. That is off course possible to do, too.
any concerns re safety if a fire your baby in crib getting out? hopefully you have a plan in place and kids know how to get out and are practicing or having drills.? extra fire extinguisher? large one and know how and practice using. l love your set up
awesome way of designing each kids area as their own. what size mattresses are they? are they regular twin beds? are they long enough for them when they get older,?
+Shannon Huntley They are the mattresses (or actually they are just VERY thick foam pads) that came with the travel trailer. But travel trailer bunks are known to be skinnier and longer than twin beds. As they grow, they will most likely just take the shelf out for more foot room or we might upgrade to a slightly bigger trailer at some point so we can do this even longer!
Beans! I love your window dressings!! Love your videos, just found you guys today and I'm following! I'm a mom of 2 with another one on the way and this is our dream. We downsized a couple of years ago just to a smaller house but I'm finding even now we still have SO much stuff and I can't keep up with everything. And our 2 car garage is packed to the gills, we can't even park in there :( How long did it take you guys to purge to get down to being able to live in your tiny house? Did you do it all at once or was it a longer process? How long have you been living in your tiny house? Any tips on finding a super cheap trailer to renovate? I have been looking at Craigslist and RV Trader but can't find anything with a bunk room for our price range... And last question, where do you guys park it? Own your own land or are you in an RV park? Or are you always on the move? I know that's a lot of questions, sorry, but thank you so much for making these videos! They are the most comprehensive and informative about how you make "real life" work in a tiny house that I have been able to find!
+Amy O'Crowley - You made it to the end!! yay!! Glad to have you 'on board!' We also had a ridiculous amount of stuff - I think there are some pictures of all the stuff early on in our Instagram feed (@bigfamilytinyhouse). We did a one time purge. We just had an 'estate sale,' basically. Put it up on craigslist and made yardsale type signs, then just opened the doors and said everything is for sale! (we had already pulled out what we were going to keep and put it in the trailer). We sold all our furniture except a few small pieces that are in a storage space now, we sold the large majority of our kitchen stuff, books, clothes, toys, trinkets, decorations, art, etc. etc. I forget exactly how much it was, but thousands of dollars. Really, from decided to go tiny, to actually living in #TrailerSwift was about 2 months. We have been in it now for about 18 months. We found ours on craigslist - that seemed to be the best bet as all the used ones at dealers were so expensive. We are in an RV park right now, and don't do as much traveling with the house as we would like, as it needs it's brakes fixed and with all our stuff in it, it's really heavy, which means it does a number on my Tahoe, which has 206K miles on it.
+Juliana Farabelli I have a fe thoughts on this: 1) the large majority of humans who have ever lived, lived in tight quarters, with fewer amenities, and would gladly trade with us. 2) Kids are extremely adaptable and if this is all the space they ever have, they will be perfectly fine. They'll grow up to be respectful, productive members of society (or hermits who live in a van, haha who knows) 3) Like any house, we can upgrade or get a new one that better accommodates our needs. The plan in the next few years is to build another house from scratch, with a different layout.
+Big Family Tiny House I think that curtians would help with privacy as your little girl gets bigger. and keeping up the talks about consent and respect :) Your boys will learn valueable lessons about respecting girls and women by sharing with their sister.
+Indykitty1 Exactly! I (dad) make a very concerted effort to make sure she knows that's her body is her body and she's the one who gets to make the rules about it. And I've also been teaching the boys that same thing. A curtain for her bunk is a great idea!
Dear random person looking through the comments don't listen to the idiot who called you stupid you are perfect just the way you are and they're just jealous of you you're just as good as they are and maybe even better Thankyou for taking your time to read this bye
I'm in an apartment with my boyfriend. we both want the same things in life, nice sized family and a tiny home. lol how do you manage this and what will you do when they get older?
lol you cant be in the video naked ( I think I have said that one before too lol ), I think you have the right idea on both stuff and space, new subbie here, really enjoying your videos, wish there was more :). I just had a question and I cant remember you covering it, but do you guys move around a lot in your RV or are you mostly stationary in RV parks??? Just came from your kitchen tour video and wanted to say your kids seem really happy in their tiny house so that's the main thing, tfs
We are currently stationary, yes! With plans to either travel or move onto some land in the future. Our kids are super happy and we like keeping them that way ;) thanks for the sub! New and more videos coming atcha!
NICE!😃 yeah the only concern I would have had is height of child. my son was a stringbean growing like a weed. he was 5'11" before I knew it but then I only had Two kids. one of each sex. they did share a room and bunk beds in a regular house when they were younger. Most people don't realize that when children are on close proximity they actually DO get along better and learn to respect each other. mine got in trouble at school AND home and we're put on two weeks punishment of no electronic devices.only light switches! My son Gasped at What would they Do and How they were going to LIVE!!??😱😱 I showed them how much FUN my sisters and I had playing cards and games and just loving on my mom on rainy days when I was a child. After the time they BOTH told me that was the best punishment they ever had and asked if they could make it a regular thing at least once a month. #Family Unity 😘😀😃😉☺
Luckily, they are not currently 5'9", and it will be at least 5 (more like 7-9) years before we reach that anyway. We've already upgraded to a slightly larger 5th wheel and when our family's needs change, we will make decisions about our housing situation then.
Manny Zarate My paternal grandparents (poor as fuck!) were granted shitty land in Northern Alberta in the 1920's, given by the Canadian government to populate the isolated parts of Canada. They were Finnish. They built a cabin with a communal area (for cooking, dining, gathering, recieving company AND main sleeping area of the matriarch and patriarch. There were 2 small rooms attatched to accomadate the 8 girls and boys seperately. My grandma and 2 of her sisters shared a bed well into teenagehood in the 40's, and continue to share a warm and loving relationship with each other well into their 80's! This nonsense that children each need their own huge space to be "normal" is BS and encouraged by an economy that wants you stay perpetually in debt my attaining huge houses where you incur a giant mortgage.
Watch Andrea Mills. They fit six boys in one room they have eight kids and live in a tiny house, she organizes her whole house and has amazing happy kids
I love this family. They actually taking responsibility for the education of their children, there family & each other. Their kids are learning more as well, they are traveling so that's a field trip every other day if not every day. This is really awesome & I just love it.
Awesome kids room. They will have great memories from all being so close. Good for you Mum and Dad for choosing this simple way of living.
The tour starts at 6:48 for those of you wanting to skip the intro
thanks
Thank you. I was getting sick of the LONG introduction

Absolutely - and if history is any indication, shit will hit the fan at some point in the future.
I think their space is just perfect for them. Children don't need so much. We just tend to think they do and the same can be said about adults. Thanx for sharing!

You have a beautiful family and i love what you've done :)
I bet they'll have such fun memories!!! If you think about it in the olden days kids probably lived in a lot smaller spaces than that with their siblings and that was just the norm
+Julia S. Exactly! Maybe we all should have been born a few decades ago ;)
What are your plans for when the kids get older? I love your utilization of space! That crib is genius!
Never mind, my question was answered down below. 😘
What was it I can't fined it and I would like to know that too
omg I love your house it looks so cozy
Thanks!
Great video and it looks cozy!! I can't live like that only because I'm very claustrophobic!! I subbed!
+IAmHeaven you'd be surprised how spacious it actually feels. Almost everyone is immediately surprised when they step inside!
Beans! I love your window dressings!!
+Amie W woohoo! You made it!!
i love it! this is so cute and creative! you are really smart and a great mother thanks for sharing this video!!!
you don't want them to be horders
whats the plan when they get too tall for the bed? looks like they are already there or close to. but for when they get to like 15 or something? or is this short term?
More videos coming soon to answer that!
that was a good queston
that was a good question
has the question been answered?
I would like to know. Going tiny soon.
Great job on the kids room!!
+Renae Young-Martin thanks!! What else do you want to see?
+Big Family Tiny House I was wondering how do you manage family dining and preparing meals for a family of 6, I can't imagine you have much storage for food.
+Renae Young-Martin great question! That may be part of the kitchen video, but we may just make a separate "tiny house cooking" video!
+Renae Young-Martin videos of the kitchen and dining space is up next! Stay tuned!
+Big Family Tiny House thanks for the update I've been looking forward to it!!
Great mindset. I totally agree with you.
I like your outlook on life :)
Thanks :)

I like the crib. yes it looks like baby jail but it converts into older child by just taking off the gate. 👏
very cute room love how u set it up. never thought 4 kids can fit in a small room but u totally proved me wrong lol can we see the kitchen and livingrom area please

I haven't seen any videos posted from you guys in a while. Are you still loving the travel trailer?
I agree kids don't need a lot of stuff because they don't respect their things or even know what they have when they have too much... HOWEVER... THAT WAS A SO CUTE INTRO
One recommendation for when they get older or now, add curtains to give them their own privacy space
thanks for the vid!!1 this is very great to know
looks very fun for kids....what are your plans in another year? Bc your 2 oldest kids are getting taller.........Will they switch beds?
We've started to upgrade! New videos coming soooooooon....
When people ask about space, you should just say: the space is outside!
Cute little crib:)
I totally agree with you!👍🏼🌟

The room is great and has the perfect size for the kids, but what will happen when they grow up and become bigger and taller and want more privacy?
+Juliana Farabelli I have a fe thoughts on this:
1) the large majority of humans who have ever lived, lived in tight quarters, with fewer amenities, and would gladly trade with us.
2) Kids are extremely adaptable and if this is all the space they ever have, they will be perfectly fine. They'll grow up to be respectful, productive members of society (or hermits who live in a van, haha who knows)

Oh and do you travel while the kids are sleeping at night?
When ur driving does the stuff on the kids shelf fall off
I'm in an apartment with my boyfriend. we both want the same things in life, nice sized family and a tiny home. lol
how do you manage this and what will you do when they get older?
More videos to come, BUT! we're sticking with this lifestyle just upgrading a bit...
Will they still fit when they get older?

is it jus5t me im watching in 2020 august
what about when their at an older age? I don't think that it would be very comfortable at 5"9 all rolled up in that tiny space.
Luckily, they are not currently 5'9", and it will be at least 5 (more like 7-9) years before we reach that anyway. We've already upgraded to a slightly larger 5th wheel and when our family's needs change, we will make decisions about our housing situation then.
I love your roomI love you have
I agree. Kids don’t need everything. They will love less than more.
Cool!
Room tour starts at 6:39 🙄
What will you do if you have another kid?
What about once they get older? They'll have no leg room on the beds plus they won't be able to sit up
Do they live in a trailer or are they camping?
Where do they keep their clothes
How long can a family of 4 kids live in a tiny house? at what age is necessary for your girl to have her own space? thank you
Manny Zarate My paternal grandparents (poor as fuck!) were granted shitty land in Northern Alberta in the 1920's, given by the Canadian government to populate the isolated parts of Canada.
You used iMovie for this
