Real glad this was the first new AoS 3rd edition battle report I watched! The good spirits in this video make the anxiety, people dog piling negativity on the new edition, and even negativity about certain factions just melt away. It reminded me of what makes gaming so great!
Honestly from what I skimmed through I'm really liking the new edition. As someone who loves using non monstrous and non named heroes this new edition is great for the weaker generic heroes.
I am already impressed with the new rule set by watching this. We see both players engaged in the game throughout the turns and the command abilities seem amazing especially with how it makes unit leaders more impactful. The heroic and monster actions are really cool as well and I cannot wait to get my first game of 3rd edition in soon!
Great batrep gents. Super fun. Halfway through it but need to duck off to watch the football (Euros) so don’t know if you pick it up later on….quick note. Lauka Vai can’t stack save modifiers (Soulblight T2 - finest hour + mystic shield) to go down to a 1+. Save modifiers are capped at +1 but can be reduced indefinitely. Look forward to picking the rest up later on. 👌🏽👊
@@bastiend7348 The roll can't be better than +1 you can still modify it more so and negate some rend, it is worded the same as hits and wounds, you can stack the modifiers as much as you want but you can never add more than 1 to hits/wounds/saves in the end.

Nice with some AOS3! But I have read the rules too and I was wondering. Isn't save capped now? So with your Luaka, you said she was 1+ in her save. From something and mystic shield. But a save can only be modified with a 1+? Says "A save roll cannot be modified by more than 1+"
Something occurs to me. Because the Terrorgheists are battleline in the Avengorii army, does that mean you can reinforce them as per the AOS rulebook? As in have a unit of 2 Terrorgheists?
You can actually pretty easily get 6 models in combat even at 40mm bases. You just kinda got to zigzag them. I tested this out my drawing a line and taking 6 40mm, acting as if they only have 1 inch reach and trying to get as many as I could in combat. It's pretty easy to get them all in.

The table looks great, but that much impassable terrain really disadvantaged the BoC army, and they didn't need any handicaps as it is! I think with less giant mountains it'll work better for both players. :)

That is assuming you were talking about the battle tome for LoN. Gravelords still has Legion of Night and Legion of Blood, but Legion of Sacrament, as well as Arkhan, are gone from Soulblight. Arkhan is Bonereapers only now.
Obviously not a hyper-serious match, but it did seem like both players are able to be engaged throughout the game thanks to the plentiful command points. It doesn't feel very You Go I Go.
Hey guys - I love the BatReps, appreciate the content. While we're all still getting a feel for the new edition --- I believe you are supposed to select your Grand Strategy as part of your Army composition. Not sure if that's how y'all did it - but the commentary during the video made it seem like you both picked it when determining the scenario...
Was fun to watch though would it not have been better to swap the match ups in the 2 games? Soulblight Vs lumineth and beasts of chaos vs nighthaunt would have given 2 more evenly matched games
Great battle report guys in terms of you having fun and showcasing some of the rules! On a personal level I am a little concerned with SBGL though. Every battle report they are showing they are pretty weak at the moment. You say LON was too much but undead should be about hordes and attrition, yet your Zombies didnt do a thing. On a side note, why did you decide to leave the Zombies on the objective? Once captured it remains yours until contested so you could have moved them up to cause even more frustration to Steve.
Felt like the majority of the game was activating copious amounts of command abilities, hero actions, monster abilities, etc. The amount of upkeep didn't feel good to me. It was great to see the guys have fun though.
It looks like, from listening to people who have been playing a fair amount of games, it becomes almost second nature after a while. It's also extremely well presented and laid out in the core rules. It's not that hard at all and gives some needed buffs to heroes/monsters across every faction.
Also its sub commander and 2 troops in Vanguard so could not use that battalion it would have fit the linebreaker which is commander and 2 monsters. In this case it would not have changed anything as could use command point on at the double and then a free all out attack. But please be carful explaining the new rules but otherwise a fun battrep
will there be new battletomes for all armies? eventually probably over the life of the entire edition. with the release of 3.0 they will release a chapter approved type thing with updated points and probably erratas and FAQs.

Warhammer used to be a Game where (Big) Armies Clash against each other. Commanders, Heros and huge regiments. That was the Magic of 6th Edition ...and I know GW and the Later Editions went nuts on that (buying and painting up to many minis)...Huge Regiments and stuff. If you mean is MWG doing one, yes. Matthew was working on it, but stopped because 3rd edition was announced. He's probably going to be starting that work back up now though.
ok so i did do it wrong, The Doombulls ability use to affect all warheard units within 12. now its pick a warheard unit withing 12. So what i did was against the rules, i should have read the command ability closer.
With the rules about reinforcing units something i'm disliking you don't seem to be able to make big units a lot anymore. i'd expect MSU to be the thing in 3.0
still can't believe legions of nagash got squatted for this awful vampire-focused faction. I miss Arkhan, and i miss when Deathrattle stuff were your actual threats rather than playing second-fiddle to a bunch of elite vampire guys.

it's one monster ability per monster. also rend does matter into saves, so you can have 2 different +1 saves effects on to equal out if your opponent has a 2 rend attack, since it's the total of the save modifiers that is capped at +1.
The 1+ save was just Luka working out the overall modifier. Lauka had +2 save on a 3+ and there was a -1 rend. So 1+ save with a -1 rend for a 2+ save or +2 to save along with a -1 for an overall +1 so still a 2+. They didn’t play it incorrectly but they should try to get out of the habit of referring to a 1+ save as it’s more confusing for viewers and easier to make mistakes.
@@JunkmanRomo gw literally had a whole website post about the level of strategy that's added because you can only choose one monster per turn for a monster ability, so I'm afraid it is definitely only one per turn not one per monster

used slaughterer's call wrong. it picks 1 unit within 12", not all within 12". couldn't have stacked that with all out attack.

Theres the Grand Strategy, and then the Minor (i think it was called that) one is a "Per turn" thing that you go and pick as you want and need.

The +1/-1 caps are after modifiers, so in your example they'd be at a total +1.

17:15 so in 3.0 a unit can't recieve 2 command abilities in the same phase so the bulls would have had to pick the plus one to hit or wound
One command ability was on the bullgors, the other was on the doombull

These two armies are both designed to have large monsters instead of massed ranks, so that's probably part of why it feels that way.

The vengori lord cannot ever be a sub commander, the battalion rules for sub commander states wounds characteristic less than 10, not 10 or less
