While i’m sure this version of Test Track had its fans, we’re exciting for the upcoming retheme which will reimagine the ride experience while keeping the same ride path. The current version feels like Tron, but before Tron… and now that Tron is a thing at WDW, it didn’t make sense to keep this version this way!
The Old version of Test Track captured the original concept of a corporate ride sponsorship that was so quintessential early 20s disney that I don't think would ever get repeated.
I am definitely going to miss this version of Test Track! Being from the UK we get out to Disney usually once a year and I am glad we got to experience this version for the last time in January. I absolutely adored the very first version of Test Track and when it was re-imagined I was worried it would lose its magic, but I have grown to love this version. Looking forward to what Disney to on Test Track 3.0!
this was like my favorite ride back in 2015 when i was a little, pre enthusiast. I loved it not only for the ride experience before the creativity of creating your own car. but as I’ve gone back to Epcot in the past couple years, I’ve just noticed that most of the effects were either broken or not working so I really hope they change it into a new experience, keeping a blend between the old and new version keep working. thank you test track giving me a thrill in my young age and i hope to see you on the other side.
NO!! Damn it, TEST TRACK!!! I didn't get a chance to ride it again. The last time I rode it I was the age of like...???...shoot!.....And now I'm at the age of like...????..FRICK!!!.........DAMN IT, TEST TRACK!!!
I liked this ride because I like rides I can share with my whole family, and this one had a mild thrill element but wasn't too intense for them. Also, when she was little, my daughter *loved* Test Track 2.0's "design your car" pre-show activity and was honestly mostly there for that. The post-show area had activities you could do with your virtual car, and there was also another one of the design kiosks there so you could re-do it if you wanted (or make a design if you'd skipped it in the queue). I tried to sell them on Tokyo DisneySea's "Journey to the Center of the Earth" by explaining that it was Test Track meets Jules Verne, but they took one look at the cars going into the final drop and noped out.
As much as I like Test Track, I feel like its not time for another reimagined version of it, its time for a new attraction for the motion pavilion altogether. World of Motion showed the past and how we got to where we are in transportation, Test Track showed you what a modern day vehicle goes through…how about something that shows concepts of future ways to travel?
I’m actually excited to see what will happen to this! I’m hoping to see a blend of World of Motion and Test Track ( like Disney promised) and get back to the edutainment roots of EPCOT! Great Video!
@@Horizons1 Here the thing, General Motors is still staying on as sponsor as they have for 40+ years. Half of funding is coming from them so Disney is of course gonna put more effort into this project.
Tiana’s main issue were a lack of budget to fill the ride track and unsure leadership on the project, both of those will be solved because the overhaul is being paid for by GM who will want at least some creative control over the attraction.
I’ll miss this ride. It was my favorite Disney ride up until Guardians. I remember when I was little and we were planning trips to Disney I’d make sure we’d go to Epcot just so I could ride Test Track. I would’ve rather gone to Epcot over any other park just so I could ride it. Although my opinion on the ride has changed since going back as an enthusiast, it’ll always hold a special place in my heart as my first #1 ride. RIP Test Track 2.0, you will be missed 😢
This is sad, this is my favorite version of the ride even though it’s the only version I’ve ridden 😅 but it’s such a fun gorgeous looking ride even if it does give Tron movie vibes, but it was just so colourful and fast, I hope the new one can be just as good as the 2.0 version or maybe possibly better. If I’m being honest when I watch videos of the original version I looks good but nowhere near as good as the version I ridden, but that’s just my opinion and I get if there are people who probably prefer the old version. I also hope they keep the Chevrolet sponsor just because it’s probably my favorite car manufacturer. I have very nostalgic memories of going on this ride in 2018 and 2020 :)
When I rode it, i was surprised by how slow it felt. The launch was weak and it braked way too early. I would rather see something new and thrilling in this area.
I like Tron but I just didn’t like this version and preferred the original. You filmed this well though! Great job! Looking forward to the next version!!
Looking forward to the new version. I loved the original, but this version looks like a daily driving test in Florida, minus the mountains in the LCD screens. It's like if the Regal Cinemas intro from the early 2000's became a real boy. Also, we have actual cars that easily go this fast and much faster in a shorter period of time now, so give it some punch, Disney!
Why did epcot close test track? also did yk Hershey Park is adding a new roller coaster or flat ride? I was there yesterday and there were fences up and a construction crew with a poster that said "Pardon our mess, something twisted is coming" I have bets that it'll be an rmc raptor, bc if you look at the plot of land it looks so small that it would be able to perfectly fit either a rmc raptor or a rmc wild moose! What do you think? And one more thing if you want to go look by the plot of land I'm pretty sure it was somewhere near either the Fahrenheit area or the droptower/zooamerica/games area, I forget exactly where but somewhere near one of those 2 areas
Never rode 2.0. Haven’t been on it since 2009. Based on this video, doesn’t look like I missed much. Let’s see what I’m going not to experience with 3.0.
I'm guessing they'll give it the Cars treatment or some other IP tie in. While I like Carsland, it's a shame what Disney has been doing to EPCOT. While I personally preferred World of Motion to TestTrack, I still like it as an original attraction based on an abstract idea and not a Disney IP. I know for people who have only known Disney since Iger initially took over it seems odd to complain about Disney parks having too much Disney IP. But the parks used to put creativity first and IP was an occasional add on. Some of the best Disney attractions weren't based on existing IP. And some of the best IP based attractions weren't built based on IPs that Disney even owned at the time (e.g Star Tours, Indiana Jones Adventure, Pandora, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror...etc.) And in some cases attractions were built on IP but not with the goal of pushing the orginal IP (e.g. Song of the South/Splash Mountain.) Those were built not in order to push a Disney IP but in order to create world class attractions, similar to Universal paying Warner Bros the license to do Harry Potter. I really wish Disney hadn't given up on parks like EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and California Adventure. They want to just turn those parks into a messy advertisement for their existing media (which is increasingly franchise and sequel based.) They've lost their creativity.
In reviewing several comments, I looked at the proposal for Test Track 3.0. If they actually do what they've said they'll do then this might be a rare win for modern Disney. That said, I'm not sure about holding my breath since Disney keeps changing its proposals when it comes to EPCOT. I think they don't like having to think about this park.
Have you been paying attention to any Disney news? It’s getting turned into test track 3.0 and will still lack IP because GM is the one footing the bill.
After waiting in a queue, half the ride is spent waiting in a car queue powering up for an underwhelming finish... at a lower MPH than the highways leading into Orlando. The TRON retheme was a cool way to squeeze a few more years out of this experience, but it isn't so hot anymore. Scenery is meh, movement is jerky, just not much here to see or experience. I hope they completely overhaul this attraction... it's time. Had a good run, but it's time.
Is this a joke or real? Why the heck would they close this popular attraction?!😧🤨I haven’t been to Epcot since 2017, but test track is awesome and still gets long queues. It makes no sense.
It’s not gone, and it’s still going to *be* Test Track, they’re just doing another reskin of it like they did from 1.0 to 2.0, because the sponsor contract renewed.
This version was just dumb and cheap. They should have either just kept the original and improved it, or spent more money with a major overhaul and no longer having it a "test track".

From what it looks like from concept photos, they are going for a blend between the sim track of 2.0 and a more realistic greenery setting.

I'm really glad this is being redone - compared to the original version this past one was beyond bland and pointless.
A ride that simulates driving TO the park. The most American thing that has ever America-ed.
This was one of my favorite rides when I used to go, me and my brothers would spend forever customizing our own car😅
No doubt going to showcase EV tech as part of the new experience.
