Test Track? Again? How many tests do we have to do before we're finished with this stupid TRACK?! Sorry, got a bit distracted. Test Track 3. The trilogy is complete, but how immersive, how technologically advanced, and how HISTORICAL will the (possible) finale to the Test Track trilogy be?

omg they finally did it.
Test Track 3.
@DavidVitrano It's more likely to be the Chevrolet Volt.
Did Sweater Dalin get trapped in a coal mine? Do we need to dig him out?
Disney forward revealed plans with a possibility of adding a people mover or skyliner to Disneyland, you should talk about it
@DavidVitranoI don't think they would ever do that because teslas are not safe cars compared to other things on the market, so it would just be the Disney version of an Elon musk circle jerk.
@DavidVitranoIt’s currently and is remaining sponsored by GM. The logical conclusion is 3.0 will feature all electric and self driving vehicles because those are “the future” of automotive technology/transportation. This is Tomorrow world in EPCOT don’t forget. 😄
my pitch is that Test Track 3.0 is a time traveling machine testing facility and we go back in time and they can repurpose the Dinosaur animatronics
this would be my dream
good idea but y'know I still would love to see dinoland live for future generations
In lieu of the ride Universal Studios used to have about time traveling cars? I second this.
Wait isn't Comic Rewind already about time travel because it replaced the ride about time travel?
YES
Cast member here... While Test tracks design studios do make you stop. The line after the design stage doesn't stop. There are certain days where the loading CMs will be faster than the design studios, letting the single rider line be the only line up to load.
So yes, while the design studios can make the efficiency slower, it generally doesn't. Just gives you something to do!
Yeah the throughput argument is a bit silly. It's like saying a preshow makes a ride less efficient.
@@John-nt3dk exactly. There will always be a line before and after a preshow. To allow for the 3 minute (or in the case of a double preshow [just about every ride with one], a minute and a half)
That’s cool that you’re a CM. Thanks for helping bring the magic best you can :)
I think the idea of Test Track 3.0 showing off the range of the EVs for Chevy is 100% what's going to happen. It's good for Chevrolet by giving us a memorable and fun commercial, and good for Disney by giving them room to create a bunch of wonderfully unique and diverse show scenes. It also helps drive the point of electric vehicles trying to preserve the land. Current Test Track tends to pull you away from the theme of the land. 3.0 would give us a soft transition from the new land area to the more technology based section of Epcot
@@Rawkfist1501 cringe
@@bandombeviews6035 might be cringe but look up "lithium mining".
Current WDI names in consideration for Test Track 3.0:
1) Test Track... inspirited by Encanto
2) Test Track... inspired by Coco
3) Test Track... inspired by Moana
4) Test Track... Tiana's Highway Adventure
Test Track race through the World of Cars
It’s definitely gonna be cars, they’re just figuring out how to theme it outside and rip the bandaid off for DL that they won’t be special for carsland anymore.
that's hilariously true
No please not a ride based on an animation that belongs in fantasyland, it needs to be something futuristic using the latest technology
Test track 1.0 always gave me mythbuster vibes, especially in the queue
The best test track ngl, it was such a great ride. The crash door made me cling to the seat (albeit I was like 8). It made learning about crash test and car manufacturing exciting. The realistic feel was GREAT. Honestly the newer one felt… flat. Like a wanna be of its predecessor.
THAT'S WORD FOR WORD EXACTLY WHAT I ALWAYS SAY! It had a quirkiness to it. A spark of curiosity.
The new one feels like they tried to do Tron but worse. The idea that you're a sentient test dummy was so perfect at treading the line between messed up and innocent that all the other flagship Disney rides have.
Your HOMEMADE Sign is pure genius. 6 lane highway as a extra detail is mind bending fun! :D
I think there was a huge lack of motion blur and there was somehow no horizontal stripes. How would I know if it's fast?
Yo Provost I’m a big fan!
The ride will definitely return to the history of transportation theme of World of Motion, ending with EVs as the future, leading into the outdoor test track segment. I cannot wait!! Loved the original World of Motion.
I better be listening to It’s Fun to Be Free on this new Test Track 😂 I miss 80s Epcot ❤
We NEED to talk about his hilarious idea for what the new sign should look like
I hope Sweater Dalen is OK. He’s probably chilly. Save him.
Test Track 1.0 was my favorite Disney ride.
If you want the attraction to appeal to men, just add horses. And beer. And call it the Mojo Dojo Casa World of Track.
For anyone who enjoyed the edutainment aura Epcot originally had, I highly suggest you check out the recently (like, this week) released film The Inventor. I coudn't help but feel as if the whole movie was a pre-show for a ride. The animation is lovely too.
Every time the car goes outside I 1. Miss the old door and 2. Think ".....Yep, there's Mexico, from the side...the most egregious sightline violation I have ever experienced. Then "wheeee!" But still.....every time.
This is one of the few channels that I "like" the video before I've even watched it. Thank you for being consistently entertaining, bub!
old test track was where it's at, all my homies love old test track
They should add a tunnel to the speed section. It adds more theming potential. Even if there isn't much in the way of scenes, it would feel way faster. They could also slow it down to help with maintenance without much of a change in experience. It also solves the problem of the outside section showing backstage.
AND having to shut down when it rains! (Which is constantly) 😂
Dont slow it dont wtf
Test Track 1.0 felt faster because it had more effects, like tire squealing, to make it seem faster. The narration also helped, "push it! Harder! Hang on!"
Did I hear test track? or did I hear World motion? oh you said both? in ONE package??? Hold up is Disney cooking? that’s not usual. Somethings not right. What am I thinking? This is always like this.
Test Track 3.0 Is A Saving From The Gods (still waiting for the updated figment ride though)
I think they may put dreamfinder in test track
Yes to all of this!!!
I THINK WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT WE NEED THAT WORLD OF TRACK SHIRT!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wishes they could take a time machine to different years in Disney parks.
Definitely EV focused… but makes sense to pay homage to the history of the internal combustion engine as a seque to the future: EVs. Great opportunity to merge two concepts into one: World of Motion (history, dark ride) with Test Track (performance, thrill ride).
I feel it'll be an tribute to World of Motion while using the old Chevy jingle. "SEE THE USA IN YOUR CHEVROLET"
I’ve only ever been to Disneyworld twice. Once in 2010 and once in 2012. In 2010 we made it all the way through the Test Track queue just to have it break down before we could get on and had to leave and in 2012 it was still closed for the refurbishment. I plan on going next year and I will be a little upset if they shut it down for a refurb when I go. It’s the only big attraction that I haven’t been able to ride before.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen your videos. Always love taking the history of Epcot. Man this is so amazing. Love the videos.
I would not have guessed that Test Track would get another makeover before Journey Into Imagination, the one everyone has been clamoring for a re-do on--but I guess that sponsor funding makes all the difference. They can rework Epcot as many times as they want, but to my mind, the park's not truly fixed until they do something about that ride.
10:53 that shirt is goofy as hell but lowkey goes so hard, I'd 100% buy merch based on it
Dallin, we love you and Disney needs to hire you!
I am old enough to remember the OG E.P.C.O.T. It was marvelous, I have enjoyed "most" of the updates (prior to 2020 destruction 😢) but miss the energy and emotion of late 80's Disney
Personally hoping for a retheme to a new World of Motion with the Test Track ride system
My first idea for Test Track 3.0, years ago, was for them to try the augmented reality thing that Universal is doing with their Mario Kart dark ride, so that you could actually appear to be riding in the vehicle you designed in the pre-show. But that's just asking for an operations nightmare.
I never experienced World of Motion or the first version of Test Track--it's always been Tron Track to me, and I liked it in part because it was one of the most thrilling theme-park rides that my whole family was still willing to share with me. It was just under that threshold where I had to go alone. (Though that also means I never used the single-rider line, which by all accounts is very effective. Besides, my daughter loved the "design your car" station--that gimmick was the main attraction for her, and I suspect a lot of people will actually be disappointed if it goes away.) I suppose that now that Disney World literally has a Tron ride, the "Lazer Tag arena" theming here no longer makes a lot of sense.
5:08 Pause here. Note the windows on the right. The white pillar between the last window and the one before it has a penny on it. It stayed there by mistake back in like 2009 when I was cleaning the track. I found gum on the floor and didn’t have my putty knife on me so I used the only thing I had, a pressed penny in my pocket. But my coworker wanted to keep the penny so I tried to press the gum to the divider and then pull off the penny. It didn’t work and the penny stayed there until they renovated the ride. 😂
Well, 4 months ago we wrote an article that Test Track was returning to the original ride. We were close
Went to the old school Epcot a few times as a kid. I loved all the learning stuff. Used to beg my parents to go to Epcot when we'd go to disney. They'd always try and half-day it and rush it, along with my siblings. Epcot was about what could be, whereas Magic Kingdom was pure fantasy. Always liked the hope aspect of Epcot, because it was real.
BOWTIE POWER BABY!!! I had to give a Chevrolet shout out here. Even for those who aren't car people, you can't deny how great of a sponsor GM has been to Disney for a very long time. I think GM is actually the longest running sponsor now at WDW. Boy this news makes me almost as excited as getting a Radiator Springs Racers (top 5 greatest Disney ride of all time) in Florida. Dallin thank you for covering this so in depth for us Test Track/World of Motion fans. Btw do yourself a favor and ride in a V8 Camaro before it's too late!!
I’m with you, they should bring back Fun to Be Free!!!
In the early post-covid days they didn't do the design stations and everyone basically just breezed right though the Test Track line. They can keep the design stations in the play areas, but that part of the ride queue has to go.
Here’s my take from a coaster enthusiast perspective: Epcot has to keep it high speed to ease the pressure off of guardians. They can’t really afford to have only one speed demon in their park. If they want to do it right, look back to the original test track concept back before they lowered the speed down. Obviously they can’t do 120mph, but guardians is still behind a paywall. At least MK has space mountain and big thunder to suffice, but the only other option besides guardians at Epcot is mission space. That’s not a good sign. I’d say that guardians functions as a great upper intensity family level thrill and Ratatouille fills in the middle ground, but a spinning attraction that is infamous for motion sickness can’t be relied upon that heavily for thrills. Either Epcot needs the Fuji coaster or needs to up test tracks game in this update (or keep it the same but improve the overall ride).
I know this won’t happen because they won’t change the ride path, but I would love to see the spiral track from World of Motion come back in some form!
They said something about optimism for the future. I think they’ll be talking about the future of cars, basically a big electric car ad for Chevy.
It would be cool if they made new versions of original post shows (bird and robots, the water one)
You were born 2 years AFTER World of Motion closed? My god you’re young. My family first came down to WDW in January of 1987, just barely 4 years after Epcot opened. At the time, I can tell you that Epcot was mind-blowing to an 80’s kid, and I think to anyone who visited. Also at that time, it was pretty much exactly how it was when it opened in October of 1982. I still miss rides like World of Motion, Horizons, and Universe of Energy like crazy. Did they go a million miles an hour? No. But they had charm to them, they got you into the AC for a while, they had great whimsical music, and most importantly, they were both fun and taught you something. That’s been my biggest gripe with Epcot’s changes over the years. They’ve largely gone to thrill rides and things based on their own IPs. And sometimes going out into the world and talking to people who are (sorry) anywhere from 5 to 25, I feel like that REALLY shows in how clueless about a lot of things that group can be. Especially with topics like history. Truly, I’m blown away at the lack of knowledge at times. I know Disney will never bring World of Motion back, but I’d be really happy if they did bring a little of what that ride used to be, into what Test Track is today.
it closed in 1996? i was born 4 years after it closed
Now that we have an actual Tron ride, I am really glad they are doing this. I loved the current theming of TT because of how Tron it was (outside of the design your own car thing. I hate that).
was alive for the original test track with Wearhouse line queue and i liked it. it felt like you were in a car factory. the new one is cool but the whole design your own car thing has to go
I hope it's fun to be free makes a comeback! I also hope they add some humorous scenes like world of motion!
The success of this future project will be very important. As it will show Disney if they lesson that an intellectual property is not needed for a popular ride
I predict that the first brake test, (Formerly brake test without ABS) will demonstrate cars before ABS, and the second brake will show how cars evolved to have ABS. Almost like the original but could see that being sort of reimplemented into this new version.
been about a decade since i had been to Disney World, maybe a bit longer, but i recall that ride being among the most underwhelming thing i had experienced lol
There's actually another reference to it's fun to be free in the queue. At least in the single rider line at the kiosks to build your car when you scan your magic band there is a 5 note jingle of it's fun to be free. This is one of my favorite little hidden EPCOT Center references.
World of Motion was an amazing ride, It was one of my personal favorites along with Spaceship Earth and Horizons
Made my family hit world of motion first every EPCOT day…. Couldn’t be more thrilled by this news and the tradition can sorta return
I don't mind the SimCar maybe make it a post-show? I hope it combines aspects of World of Motion especially in the tractor trailer scene area. Maybe have the tractor trailer honk as it goes for a barrier test. I hope old Test Track's barrier returns. I miss that being there.
I remember when test track opened we were joking about how it made us NOT want to buy a GM car because it broke down so much! "Increasing Speed" [goes slower]
Your videos are so unique and I'm here for it.
Never rode *Test Track* or *Test Track 2.0* so I don't know what they were like. Probably will not ride *Test Track 3.0* either but hopefully someone (like yourself) will get some on ride footage so I may enjoy through the 'magic of TH-cam, if TH-cam is still thing when *Test Track 3.0* is opened.
I am chomping at the bit to see what Disney and Chevy cook up with this.
Love this video dude.
i am excited to see what they will do but i hope they keep the car customisation, as that is a huge fun/ competitive addition in my family, and if it adds a bit of waitime i think it’s worth it.
I LOVED Test Track 1.0., when they updated to 2.0 I was just baffled. Like what was the intention? It was the same ride with nonsense appearance.
I love your entrance retheming suggestions xD
Did you hear that Disneyland is proposing the addition of transportation for guests around the park, shopping, parking, & hotels INCLUDING POSSIBLY using a sky liner like the one at Disney World or PEOPLE MOVER?! Apparently this info is found in their 17,000 page (yes - that’s the correct amount of zero’s) environmental impact report. Just thought you might wanna know in case you didn’t already (who am I kidding?! You probably already know! 😏)!
I honestly don't know the answer to this: Is it confirmed they are not going to change the ride layout? maybe what they will do is ditch the beginning part with the brake test and such and have it be a slow-ish ride through the history of transport culminating in the forest drive (slowed down a bit) and then the speed test is some kind of "highway drive" thing. Maybe add a second loop so 2 cars can go through at a time for that?
My pitch is that test track 3.0 will be perfect mix of 1.0 and 2.0 but if they remove the high speed stretch outside its awesome!
World of motion was fun and I enjoyed it a bunch
love these test track videos
I have a feeling someone is out there collecting Dallins and I can’t wait to find out who
I want the people mover back at Disneyland... or have them take out the track...
I didn't really mind Test Track 2.0 that much honestly, I understood the love for 1.0, but 2.0 still had some really fun visuals, it still had intensity from its high speeds, and although it was kind of a dunb gimmick, creating your own car to "test" and get a high score was at least somewhat fun.
I was a kid during the 80s and enjoyed the World of Motion. When it became Test Track I was disappointed with it because it didn't fit in with Epcot. I thought they should still focus on the History of Transportation, while making it a thrill ride. My idea was to start off slow as transportation was slow with only our feet to travel on, then the ride would get faster as transportation got faster through history. That what I hope they do with a new name, maybe like "Time Travel." I also like the ending of World of Motion where you would see yourself riding a futuristic car on a mirror wall, like seeing the original hitchhiking ghosts riding with you in the Haunted Mansion. I hope they do something like that at the end.
So new TestTrack concept will be Soarin’ and Living with the Land… “Cruisin’ Over the Land?”
Thank you for the video. That said, when you said it closed before you were born, I stuck my tongue out at the screen. I feel old…
These videos are so good.
Hey, your idea of the 6 lane highway calls back to the original plans of EPCOT having a highway going through the middle, right?! At 13:06 You talk about adding something to the backstage zooming road. What if they lined the outside track with trees…. like you are driving in a forest? They could put a parking garage-type floor just under the track so that the “first floor” would still be the backstage parking lot in this new parking garage, and the “second floor” could be the forest you are speeding through? I guess if they are worried about hurricanes blowing down their trees, they could put up a show building structure over the trees. Then, they could change the environment like nighttime with fireflies and red eyes staring back at you from deep in the forest while you zoom silently in your electric Chevrolet with the badass strip headlight in front and wind whips through your hair and tickles your ears as “It’s Fun to be Freeeeeeeee” blares on your Bose speakers and deafens you for the rest of the day. You will know who has been on the ride by how loud a family is yelling at each other. This might pose a problem for the cast members in determining who is fighting versus who just got off the ride. LOL I would ride this ride again if they actually follow the concept art and incorporate the callback to version 1.0. I love the ‘middle ground’ idea. And I just learned that the most dangerous gifts in life are free, thanks D.
I never really understood how riding in a convertible at highway speeds was considered a “thrill ride”.
I can't see how designing your own car could affect queues.
Ultimately the ride vehicles all go round full - so the capacity is maximised.
It surely isn't any different to any preshow for any ride ever.
I stand in awe of whichever Dallin I am actually posting this for. Or, perhaps, all of you'ins! Giant Robot, Giant Robot, be on the lookout for sweater Dallin...
I'd put an LED projection tunnel over that high speed loop and have it be a randomized high speed scene you travel through for a re-ride factor.
I hope that erector set entrance cover thing goes away. So you can see the cool building.
To this day, I've still never been on Test Track and now I want to hold out to see how many iterations there are before I do go on.
I'm so surprised we haven't heard anything about San fransokyo from you!
I really like the current test track though…I love designing my own car :(
I wonder if they would do something totally surprising and give you radiator racers. 😂 just a thought that popped in my head.
Wouldn’t it be so cool though if they brought back some Marc Davis style animatronics?
I think test track 3.0 would be an CES type demo of their latest car models. The queue could be a museum exhibit of the GM from it’s beginning to the present and the ride is the future with a concept car that guest will ride. It’s a return to the car testing facility of 2.0 but would include more realistic set. Example heat and cold test would be a kitchen with a industrial oven and a walk-in freeze.
That “no no no” clip at 4:16 sounds like Saul Goodman…
Am going to design a entrance look for what I think Test Track 3.0 will look maybe
I think you forgot they used to stop you in Test Track 1.0. You watched a safety video that ended in a crash.
It's going to show the history of automobiles with the **future** being (not trains) but electric cars
When I saw the stone I immediately thought of Time Bandits.
I wish Test Track was longer on the outside portion.
so excited to ride world of track 😂
I just wish they would make modification so they don't have to close the ride every time it storms
you need to take that sign mock-up and go apply to imagineering right this second
Unpopular opinion but I'm lowkey devastated by this... Test Track is to me what Splash was to other generations
The Offhand multi-verse is the only multi-verse I'm interested in
What if in Test Track 3, the vehicles are not the test subjects but WE are the ones being tested?!
Test Track is Rocket Rods that actually tried pass it on
Even as a kid in the 90s Test Track sounded lame. "Oh cool, our chance to ride in a car going 60mph...just like we did on the drive over here." At least World of Motion had the car dealership area you could run around in.
