- Musical riffs have 3 dimensions: a rhythmic motif, a melodic contour, and an evolving timbre. We can design these three dimensions separately, and get exciting and surprising results.

All this talk about weird sounds, while a nail clipper is dangling from his left ear ... well played ;)
Dont worry his ear has got compressor and limiter
the laughs, the mess around, the sounds, the nail clipper. This is living.
I feel like Oscar actually cares about us. Thank you for the tips, as always!
Another banger. Your content helps aspiring producers like myself. Whether it's technical deep dives or music theory, it's always digestible and elegantly explained with great edits on top. Much love.
"Changing the timbre is the secret weapon of electronic music." 💯💯💯
Great to see someone encouraging people to PLAY. That’s the fun that got us all here in the first place.
We love you oscar❤
You look authentic, that's priceless
Love the earring
I just love your videos, they always provide me with tons of inspiration and new knowledge. Keep it up man ❤
I love that your workflow isn't fucused on synthesizing every sound from scratch like everybody's else who create producing tutorials on Yt rn and you just play around and mess with presets and modulation. I find it very hard to create any track and not get stucked in 8 bar loop when I try to synthesize everything by myself. I want to learn synthesis and make my own sounds but actually its not that fun for me when I want to create a new track and instead of going thru and sketching my ideas with presets I get stuck in Serum or any other synh for hours trying to create anything that sounds good so I get tired and lose theinspiration and often it ends up with abonding the track...Thanks for showing us the different way of creating!
Second that. There is so much to get lost in
Min 9 sounds great. I’ve been watching your content for some time and love to see how you seem to be increasingly enjoying recording over time. Big love from Spain
Nice one, Oscar.
Too late with remark for the external synth... I'm already looking at it! 😂
That room you're in has a great sound too it, no reflection at all.
Man, you keep churning out one amazing video after the other! Hands down the best music production channel on TH-cam! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Man, I love your tutorials!
I recently switched to Cardinal because it can be used as a vst inside of a DAW for free, which for VCV Rack is only available when the full thing is bought. In the end, you can just use a sequencer from M4L like 185 sequencer or mdd snake
Indeed, i guess the version saw there is the "PRO" or so called paid version, @OscarUnderdog , do you use it as a plugin or a standalone program? Btw another top vudeo , cheers !
That was wild
In from the night (reworks & edits) from Planetary Assault Systems, Adam Beyer and Wehbba is the ultimate example of having the same melody going on for the whole song while still keeping it Interesting. Amazing production!!
gratz on the support from Cosmic Gate on Me & U!
Amazing stuff, I love your channel, thank you! 🤟
You make this after the Reddit comment I made mentioning you as a great music TH-camr, absolutely solidifying yourself as THAT GUY! Thanks for this one Oscar! Getting VCV Rack now and iwll play with it tonight!
😇❤️
Hi Oscar! Thank you for another great video! Your joy in creating music is inspiring, and I love how much I learn from each one of them. Keep bringing more experimental fun stuff.
man im in love with your energy
Loved it, only 1 note: if you dont own a synth invest a few days into understanding midi devices on ableton. Midi routing and midi resampling.
Anything can be done inside the box with levels of randomness a Modular Rack wont ever dream of just by using the expression control and randomizing everything (just and example) Midi routing allows for re-route of a chain inside a channel into another channel which can contain more midi devices, a random repitch into scaler will do "controlled randomness" in which the notes are random inside of a fixed scale. I can go on all day, ableton Live has all the devices needed to transform your pc into the most complex instrument ever created.
And vcv is free
Great video as always Oscar, you keep raising the bar.
I just noticed this sounds like an ableton ad but i'm not afíliated. In fact bitwig can do the same
Great lighting in this one💡
Just wanna thank you for those video
the video title is the perfect combination of techno and youtuber producer
Love the Energy, love the Danse !! Thank's Oscar :D
So positiv vibe! can't stop laughing!
Awesome
Sooooo nice! Would love to see a video like this one about sound design for underground berlin techno. Sounds from artists like Amotik, Marron, Rill, Alberto Tolo etc!
Love this vid as always & props to your roommate for the earring design!
You rock.
Maybe i should just release every weird track i made instead of being scared that it sounds like shit 😂
WHAT a banger
as a modular synth nerd i can just say: welcome to our world oscar!
i expect YOU'RE going to be looking at some new hardware soon ;-)
Dope
Cardinal is a free open source modular like vcv rack, but it comes with a vst and standalone
Dang, so that's where my fishing lure went 👂🎣
Oscar you are a gem
❤
Could you do more uploads on sound creation with synthesis. I watch the one about creating a womp and would appreciate learning more, ✌️
I lost that piece of my nail clipper and seeing this hanging in your ear makes me wonder.....
🎉
Riffm is a dancer
Would Cardinal work as well ? (Cardinal VST is similar to VCV Rack)
Yes it does work as well.
oscar your earpiece looks like a nail clipper
HI Oscar!
wooof!
🐕
Hi Oscar, trying to set this up for my external synth, just wondering did you use the VCV Bridge VST to link VCV rack to Ableton or is there another way to do it now? I know that was the old method. Thanks
I just realised that you look a lot like FRANKIE WILD from the movie ITS ALL GONE PETE TONG 😂
You wouldn't steal an avant-garde techno workflow.
Hello @OscarUnderdog thanks to you I started producing techno through your Reason guide and ever since you got me hooked up with your style of producing and your deep knowledge. Is there any chance you could rate my last track? I'll leave the link right here so you can see it, if I can't post a link it's the last video of mine. Huge shoutout to you!!!!
It's this one: th-cam.com/video/CHLPic98IMc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xyTx_dosZD1IGguA
Mmmmmm Trance gates.
Are you no longer a Reason ambassador?
Hey Oscar ze zijn allemaal zot van je oorbelle ;-)
😁👍❤️
take that earring out, please. that is never not going to look ridiculous to anyone. youre an adult man
Indeed, he is an adult man, so he can do exactly as he pleases, regardless of what you think.
Id love to look ridiculous if it means that people like you will stay away.
Yeah. Remove that thing. Does not fit.
I was transfixxed on the earing thinking "Is that the top of a nail clipper". And yes it looks great. Also another amazingly great tutorial from Oscar. I laughed out loud when Oscar said "through the magic of the internet". Yup, got me (sitting here with a hydrasynth)
Those who know, do. Those that understand, teach.
do you have a nail clipper earring?
