Altoona PA Area Rail Action (Norfolk Southern)

One of the best East Coast railfan trainspotting areas is just to the west of Altoona PA. This is Norfolk Southern’s Pittsburg Division. It includes Horseshoe Curve and the Gallitzen Tunnels. You’ll see a nice mix of autoracks, manifest and bulk consists. Video clips here are from Cassandra’s Overlook, Carney’s Crossing and Cresson. Both NS and Amtrak trains traverse though this area.
