As you can see in the video, whilst refuelling this F-4 on the apron a fair amount of fuel was leaking from the port wing fuel dumper. I got the sense like the ground crew were used to seeing this, but I wonder if any former F-4 folks are able to comment below?

Man it's great to see those Phantoms.

Those F-4Es are 15 to 20 years younger than USAF's B-52Hs. You can only imagine how temperamental the BUFFs are nowadays.

That is the Fuel dump and overpressure valve for the wing tanks, the T shaped stick behind the rudder is the pressure valve for the internal tanks, and it looks like they simply didn't switch tanks on the F-4. Still had it been hydraulic fluid, then the old adage comes to mind, if it ain't leaking it's empty!

I'm just hoping that was a problem that can be remedied easily. I hate seeing Phantoms looking sickly. We don't have too many of them that can fly left. Please take care of them.

Easily solved by changing the wing tank. It's the tank's fault (valve)

I don't think that's a leak. For some reaon the fuel dump valve must be open because that looks a lot like a fuel dump nozzle to me. Maybe they did that on purpose for some reason but I'm guessing it was likely just stuck open?

The ground crew were up in the cockpit at one point trying to sort something out so maybe it was that?

Who else thought he added a truck-starting sound effect in the beginning of the video?

Ha ha. I even thought that myself when I was editing! I absolutely promise it's not a truck sound effect 🤣
