"the camera loves you and so do I", what a great song with fantastic lyrics that can be interpreted as sad but I like to look at is as a happy song about remembering good times.
A snapshot into the life of a true legend, capturing his love for her and his generosity of sharing it with us. He was a true treasure, and will be forever missed!
That's a really big heart he's got out there on his sleeve...... many of us never got any closer to him than this and yet we still feel the pain of loosing him. There is nothing greater than... True Love.
I couldn't bear to listen to this tune until today. I figured I'd climb up on the garage and screw up my courage.. I still remember when Guy and Suzannah were in Houston in the 60s. She had been ill for a while. So, it wasn't totally unexpected. She was his inspiration. She wrote well herself. My favorite line of her's---"Sing like you don't need the money, Love like you'll never get hurt, Dance like there's nobody watching, It's gotta come from the heart, If you want it to work." It did.
My wife and I have been fans since day one. Every time he would play here in Austin we'd go. Somehow ended up in the VIP seating section when he was here for his birthday concert to honor the release of "This One's For Him." Never dreamed that just a few months later Susanna would be gone. Saw him back in November (2012) at the Texas Union Theater. He and Verlon put on a HELL of a good show. He played this then & I cried like a little kid. They had a special love, for sure.
You could write a million love songs and never match the message of this one. Man, I have been following Guy since the late 60s and he has only gotten better. He started on top of the mountain and climbed higher.
Gordie Sampson - a young man from Cape Breton Nova Scotia who was a co-writer of Jesus Take the Wheel, Storm Warning, this tune and many other very fine songs. Guy Clark is a treasure.
I first heard this song as a cover by Wild Child, thought it was one of the most beautiful songs I'd heard. Then this one popped up and it's on an entirely different level. What a beautiful song and a wonderful story.
His place in the great writers and singers of all time will be forever celebrated. He writes from the soul about things we have lived and if we are wise we will turn to his music to describe what we know but cannot speak. Ray Sells
No idea who is behind this channel. It just popped up. I'm a 67 year old man living in Iowa. I write songs. Used to tour solo. Thanks for this channel. I subscribed. Cheers.
My favourite picture of my wife is the one of her looking at me with a loving smile and a forever face taken the year we married. It’s the image that helps me through every day. “I don’t love you much do I?”
Always curious about songs I like and how they came to be. This is one. Great story. Especially when you put with all of Guy's friends like Townes Van Zant, Lyle Lovett, and others. When they would get together there would be many stories and many songs.
17th may 2016 Guy Clarke the pride of the green frog cafe left to join his missus Suzanne. ...Rip. .. Greetings from IRELAND 😉 salamat for the memories much respected and loved here. ....
Amazing song and that album is incredible..... album is one of those where the meaning in the songs never ends.... its like i keep finding so much in all the songs i keep playing it....
My favourite Guy Clark song too - this album was really his best - every song a work of art - a great soul who helped a lot of other folks on the path :)
Soms is een man pas in staat zijn emoties te uiten als hetgeen waar hij het meest van houdt uit zijn leven verdwenen is. Dit maakt lijdende mannen de beste schrijvers en de beste songwriters. Zo ook Guy Clark. Melancholie ten top!
Not often you see an old micrometer hanging on someones wall. I still have my father's. He was an engineer and when I was a kid he showed me how to hold one and use it. :-)
THANK YOU so so much Guy. Guy, That is a truly beautiful Love song. May you and Suzanne have health and happiness for many many years to come. John and Elizabeth
My favorite picture of you Is the one where you're staring Straight into the lens It's just a Polaroid shot Someone took on the spot No beginning, no end It's just a moment in time You can't have back You never left but your bags were packed Just in case My favorite picture of you Is bent and faded And it's pinned to my wall Oh, and you were so angry It's hard to believe We were lovers at all There's a fire in your eyes You've got your heart on your sleeve A curse on your lips, but all I can see Is beautiful My favorite picture of you Is the one where Your wings are showing Oh, and your arms are crossed Your fists are clenched Not gone but going Just a stand up angel Who won't back down Nobody's fool, nobody's clown You were smarter than that My favorite picture of you Is the one where It hasn't rained yet Oh and as I recall Came a winter squall And we got soaking wet It's a thousand words In the blink of an eye The camera loves you And so do I Click My favorite picture of you Is the one where you're staring Straight into the lens
My wife is in hospice with advanced dementia. I sit at her bedside and sing this song to her. It's just about the most perfect love song I've heard.
That’s so beautiful… keep strong and keep listening to Guy. He helps us through it all.

a man and his guitar singing, no machines or computers, perfect the way it should be . RIP Mr. Clark !

Three chords and the goddamn truth! If this doesn’t rip a hole in your heart you might not have one
You can feel the words. Guy is the most talented writers in generations.

When you get up on top of that garage brother, don't forget your cape.
Hang o to that cape when ya take the leap from the garage. So much talent so little time.
Makes me cry.
I'm in Colorado now but Guy & Susanna & Townes take me right back home to Texas, the good days (or gooder days!)
Good bye Guy. R.I.P. The music world will never be the same...your shoes can never be filled.
I cry every damn time… this song is where love of someone transcends across the skies and society. Rest easy Guy… you wrote the winner tune.
This song is almost overwhelming when looking at the album cover
I can't hear this without crying. Everytime.
I've somehow only heard it once so far, but... same.
I'm crying right now.
happens to the best of us
you might like Townes other friend ..less known.. Daniel Antalpoksky who did "Sweet Lovin Music"
RIP. The desperado caught that train.

I came across this song about a month ago and had never heard it. Now I can't get enough of it. So simple, so elegant.
Clark has affected me in so many ways, heartbroken to hear of his passing.

Incredible
Amazing....
Powerful. Thank you.
Gordie Sampson sang this at his concert last night at the Louisbourg Playhouse in Cape Breton. It was amazing.
My favorite picture of you
Is the one where you're staring
Straight into the lens
It's just a Polaroid shot
Someone took on the spot
No beginning, no end
It's just a moment in time
You can't have back
You never left but your bags were packed
Just in case
My favorite picture of you
Is bent and faded
And it's pinned to my wall
Oh, and you were so angry
It's hard to believe
We were lovers at all
There's a fire in your eyes
You've got your heart on your sleeve
A curse on your lips, but all I can see
Is beautiful
My favorite picture of you
Is the one where
Your wings are showing
Oh, and your arms are crossed
Your fists are clenched
Not gone but going
Just a stand up angel
Who won't back down
Nobody's fool, nobody's clown
You were smarter than that
My favorite picture of you
Is the one where
It hasn't rained yet
Oh and as I recall
Came a winter squall
And we got soaking wet
It's a thousand words
In the blink of an eye
The camera loves you
And so do I
