    Absolutely amazing! 👍 😊
    Thank goodness that Lucia finally (with your TLC) accepted the 2nd calf!
    Must have been totally mind boggling for her, after having given birth, to find a second one!
    All love, and best wishes, Claire, Berlin 😘 😘 😘 ✌ 👍 👍 👍

    I applaud your effort to helping ur animals no matter what others say. I think you did an amazing job in helping the calves figure things out, It's just like when a mom has twins it takes a few days to figure out how and when and get a schedule done for feedings. I loved ur video!

    Have you thought about breeding for better udders, with smaller teats? So that calves could latch on easier.

    Beautiful video. How do you create those tags on the ears and what information do they contain? Thank you. Gardis in CT - USA

    • @DaveStanleye3
      @DaveStanleye3  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      UK operates the British cattle management scheme which requires registration of all cattle. The tag shows the herd number and the beast number for which there will be a passport issued which must follow the beast around on all movements off the holding/farm.

    well " nice video of that, and I understand about that cause I helped a cow ones cause she had twins, and to make it easier, do you have any smaller pens or a barn where so you can lock her and her to baby's together.? for the first a couple of days or to. so she can get to know them better, and plus same way for the baby's. so that way it's lass change of losing them in a big open area.?

    Any idea amount of milk that a Lincoln Red Cow produces? Looks like they might make a good dual purpose family milk cow like the Red Poll.

    • @DaveStanleye3
      @DaveStanleye3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      used to be a beef strain and a dairy - got amalgamated in the 1970s with the number got low.
      In now combine dairy and beef. more than enough milk. I did unfortunate case of double mastitis with twins and she managed to feed both just off two quarters.

      @@DaveStanleye3 So Lincoln Reds could produce maybe 2.5 - 3 gallons of milk per day...enough for a calf and an average size family?

      JAMES Rivis Thanks for the comment James. We live in Worcestershire, having recently moved from Lincolnshire - hence the breed of cattle which we brought with us.

    This the first time I've seen a cow in pain having calves. I really felt for her while you are so casual never having felt the pain of birthing and finding it interesting instead.

    I'm not clear on what (problem?) it was that went on for six days, apparently due to the twin birth? Could you/anyone (briefly) explain, please?

    • @Ronibearable
      @Ronibearable 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She was confused that she had two babies to keep up with, and the babies were not able to latch on to suckle, because her teets were too large for them and were overfull and stiff. He kept having to reunite both babies, and help them latch on to eat. That was the problem

    previous video (Duna cow and an explosive calving) had comments disabled so I will post it here. Poor 10 year old cow had been pregnant 14 times. Horrible

    • @DaveStanleye3
      @DaveStanleye3  7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      sheryl napier . Typical first calving age for cattle is around 2 years. I don't allow mine to calve until they are 3 years old. Cows can then reproduce same frequency as humans - 9 month gestation. Duna then calved annually throwing twins each time. Hence 14 calves.

    Why didn't u prepare an inside arrea for Lucinda and the BABIES.? U knew thèm were coming but u left them in the rain and cold. Great farmer.......NOT.! Never seen such neglect for mum and newborn. And yes,, I'm married to a farmer! They SHOULD've been inside before she called and if you don't have a calving she'd.?.... don't bloody calve! Disgusting!
