We need a video about promotion and advertising for pod shops it's the most difficult step in this work
true it is. but what i find is 99% of people aren't actually ready for it, and just end up throwing a bunch of money away trying to sell unvalidated designs. that's just the honest truth
@@shimmymorris1Free ads like tik tok pland Printerest would be interesting or low budget ads like Instagram Posts
I agree!
@@shimmymorris1very true, but still needed for those who do have a good design/product. Please make one
Is shopify equal to etzy in rating?
Fantastic breakdown of print on demand marketplaces! 🌟 It's crucial for entrepreneurs to analyze both traffic and profit margins when selecting a platform, as this greatly impacts the potential success and scalability of their business.
Great video! If you're only focusing on t-shirts, then I agree on your Zazzle placement. But Zazzle makes it easy to transfer designs onto so-many-products! My t-shirts only sell seasonally there, BUT, once I started transferring those designs to other products, my Z sales ramped up quickly! 🤑
Can you tell me what you think of Zazzle? is it better than redbubble? is the fee structure any good there? please if you could share your thoughts
I don't get my full royalties because they are always giving big discounts to buyers, like 40% discounts.
Opened 2nd Etsy shop, suspended within 12 hours, of course no email. I had 1 listing of a sunflower design I created, so no copyright. I appealed, shocker denied within a day. Paid the $15, no clue if they plan to refund this or not but if they keep $15 from all the new shops they automatically suspend that's gonna be pretty lucrative for them! Terrible.
Spam their linked in. To get there attention
Even more effective and easier. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. That’s how I got my store back after my appeals were repeatedly shot down
I was also banned and filed a complaint against them, but nothing. They use the copyright infringement argument all the time even if completely false. I requested a complete delete of all my information and account. Don’t trust them.
Thank you for this informative video Morris. We appreciate the value you provide and the most of all, shoutout to Chris Heckman, with these platforms being undeniably inconsistent, Shopify is the way to go, especially for peeps in third world countries like mine where Etsy, Amazon et al do not operate. Leaves us no choice but be helpless yet we are good designers and product creators. Thanks again for the video, see you in the next one.
Glad it was helpful! See you in the next one
I found your channel because I have been researching the tee shirts business with print on demand. I'm still on the fence about this and have not pulled the trigger but I'm getting closer because of your channel and videos so thanks! I'm not sure what else I should know about all this so I'm checking your other videos
Thanks so much. I’m so glad my videos have helped a little. Hopefully you find exactly what you need to take the plunge
can you now compare pod fullfilment? (printful, printify, custom cat, gelato and al others)
That’s on the list
@@shimmymorris1 thanx
Chiming in as a surface designer who licenses her designs to manufacturers - I generally earn in royalties 3% of net sales which I have to split 50/50 with my agent. While manufacturers sell wholesale to retail shops, then I hope for bulk sales of my designed item….it most likely comes out to the same profit to me per item as it does for the POD profit margins.
I will use ALL the links! so grateful to find legit information on a deep dive level. thank you for this!
Good break down, Shimmy. I responded to one of your last vids in disagreement regarding comments on one particular POD, but I've since had my own experience. I've been going through a bad patch lately where this was seemed like the last straw as this POD had previously been my oasis.
Not me thinking you were saving god tier for last lol 😅😫. Thank you for this! I'm reopening my POD shop, and now I can make a more informed decision
haha i wish! but unfortunately there's not much choice out there at the moment
OMG sameeeeee I guess I just really wanted one to be on god tier haha
How would you rate tostadora? i heard it being mentioned in multiple POD youtuber's videos. It's a lot more Eurocentric meaning that designs where European languages (Spanish, French, German, etc) are used do better than English language designs.
never tried it but i can look into it
Do you know Spoonflower? If so, where would you place it
@Shimmy Hi Shimmy, please tell us what you think of selling print on demand on Amazon Seller Central. Do you think it would be a good alternative to Etsy or if we cannot get into Amazon Merch?
Amazon limits you with maximum product prices...it´s just rificilous. Maximum price per shirt in Germany is 19,99€ I believe...
Great information for beginners so we don´t waste our time.
Glad you think so!
I havent noticed yet , but , do you do a list like this for creating/design sites ? Both text/simple and AI ?
Do you have any thoughts on printed mint? I've been looking for a high quality alternative to printful, but I'm hesitant to switch to a smaller POD fulfiller.
well i just experienced the teepublic bs you sure put them in the right category , wish i had seen your vid b4 waisting my time on there .. thanks
Man, I am so disappointed and deflated now with etsy. Thanks for video, so much. Marketing is the big issue for me too. I have worked so hard, designing, just for etsy to be taken over by big corporate fools. So deflated. Shoulda known better. Marketing video help would be so appreciated for any platform off etsy.
Sorry! It sucks I know! Marketing videos are in the works. Just have a few to post before then
Thankyou so much hey. Appreciated. Your video has given me some hope too. Thankyou and looking forward to your future videos. @@shimmymorris1
Do you do any kind of link building to your sites or particular pages to help with ranking? Do your sites have blogs where you can promote a particular item or page?
not really. I don't see the reward for the amount of effort it takes to build a blog
I used society 6 back in 2011-2013 and those 10% profit margins were horrendous. It did help my work gain visibility however, and I was scouted from there -but yeah those profit margins are horrendous. Interesting to see they haven't changed much!
So if your just getting started do you suggest doing all the "Worth a Try" options to get the most exposure or just pick a couple
5:54 i was puzzled too.. and then i thought that maybe that creator had a lot of experience on that platform and that he had been doing (relatively) well...
Ye… odd one
Actually the margin on teepublic is 4$ and 2$ if there is a sale unless you are lower tier, you should have pointed this one out
Most people looking to get into it will be lower tier. And $2 is also absolutely shocking. Pathetic really that a company offers so little
How about Ebay?
Great that you mention Chris Heckman. The guy has proof that building your own business actually works and can be rinsed and repeated
ye for sure!!
What about eBay?
But Society 6 has tiers now. I looked it up and it seems at the highest tier (you can just buy the tier) you can set your own price
Any cons on selling the same designs on too many market places? Keep your Pinterest & socials linked to just one, or spread the promotional links out among the different sales sites?
Awesome video thank you so much!! Liked & subscribed ❤
thank you! I don't see why. Selling on more places just gives you more chances of getting sales
Hey Shimmy thanks for this informative video. I have one doubt threadless and viralstyle they have organic traffic or i need to bring traffic through marketing or advertising. Threadless i have shop , viral style i will try so kindly response. Thanks
all these stores have organic traffic
@@shimmymorris1 Thanks for response.
Bro what do you think about SMMA? AND What is the best service you offer with it?
SMMA can be great and very lucrative! I’ve
Never done it though so can’t give specific advice on it
Yup agreed with Zazzle but s6 really disagree with that one I would put that one with RB and teepublic they were the first company that started with the whole tier system in the first place plus if you don't buy for higher tiers they do not put your designs in the marketplace they are a bad company.
Ah that sucks! I didn’t see that in the research!
@@shimmymorris1 I really need to work harder on my zazzle shop I have been lucky on my POD sights about 10 designs and usually make a sale on that. I believe I am the king of freebies lol I have never paid a dime on anything and have over 600 sales on my shops. I take everything you guys teach on the free stuff and try it right away you guys are awesome Shimmy and I have made many sales with you and detour and some others as well. If you want to succeed in this business you have to take the first step which means 30 minutes away from youtube and actually making and selling designs. I have over 50 POD sights that I do put some designs on to see what they do and all designs go on zazzle. Ya I agree on your list just that one. I have even made sales on fine art america and teespring before they started there crap but I have sold on there as well as cafe press. Ok breath lol have a good day Shimmy.
The video i needed thank you
You’re welcome
Very good info. Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure!
Great video more like this would be great
Great Channel & Video Please do a ranking video on websites/Apps to Advertise your product on...i.e. is facebook better than Tik tok. Same Tier system as in this video. Thank you!
I’ve been checking out some of the POD companies in this video. First one is Viral Style, boy do they get slated on Trustpilot, loads of 1 star reviews. Me thinks they might be more suited to the “shite” category? 🤔😂 Very interesting video, thanks. Best wishes, Colin.
@shimmymorris1 Might want to rethink this one. I agree the "Shite" cateogry might be more appropriate. I tried to check it out, as well, and my Trend Micro blocked the site as dangerous and SPAM, so I couldn't even get on.
I had thought about Etsy but then I read about all of these accounts getting closed. I decided it wasn't worth my time to learn & set up a shop just to have it get suspended.
I got accepted for mba straight away and got my etsy account banned straight away. Funny
Haha well you’re one of the lucky ones. Use Amazon wisely
thoughts on Fourthwall?
video coming out soon. All shot, just needs editing
What about plusbase/gearlunch
1:45 im looking forward to hearing about your honest opinion and experience about these marketplaces
For sure
Good video, so what would you consider a minimum acceptable profit margin on a $25 or even $50 sale from a marketplace that would make it worthwhile to remain involved?
$25, you should be looking at over $10 profit. $50 sale if it's the same item should be over $35 margin
@@shimmymorris1 ahh ok, good to hear it from an experienced seller, Thank you Shimmy!
What about teespring?
LOL Red bubble is one of the companies I want to try, I am interested in their fanart programs, but now you have left me in doubt and I will have to reevaluate what I have planned, by the way you have left out other companies like Gelato, teespring, printful among others, are those definitely not worth it?
This companies don’t have integrated marketplaces. That’s why they’re not in here.
I’d avoid Redbubble like the plague!
I'd say watch MULTIPLE creators because I've seen several saying Redbubble and TeeRepublic are highly recommended for beginners who want a passive PoD business. You're going to have to experience trial and error, don't treat this list as gospel.
Redbubble just suspended my shops 1 week ago.. Both shop was 3 years old.. I email them why the account fees is too high like they deduct 60 ℅ of my income as account fees and after that mail they suspended my both 3 years old account.
The problem is really hard to get accepted by amazon. Any tips guys?
Yup super hard! I wish there was a set of steps but it seems like it’s so random
@@shimmymorris1 yeah, my friend got rejected three times and finally got accepted after that, it's so random
Sooo… whats the profit margin for threadless when using the marketplace? Anybody knows?
Not good
I'm trying Etsy, but so many spam messages.
ye it's just insane!
My Etsy store got banned, Fortunately the ban got lifted 2 days later
phew
Why's the volume so low?
The volume is normal for me. Maybe ur laptop is on low…
Welp, I just spent a decent amount of time getting my RB and TP sites setup based on recommendations, and now I feel like I wasted my time.
Who recommended them?!!
@@shimmymorris1 seemed like every channel I watched had those two.
To be honest, I haven’t seen any sales on either site so not sure how people get sales, but yeah, that’s where I put my effort.
@@shimmymorris1 Seemed like a lot were recommending them. I’ve put up 8 designs, but can’t even get them to show up in searches, let alone making sales.
I did finally get approved for Amazon Merch, and while those do show up in searches, I can only upload 1 design with 2 products each day. Such a slow process.
Just going to keep uploading designs as I get ideas. We’ll see if I can make my first sale soon. But pretty discouraging after my first month.

Detour Shirts
What of Seller central with P.O.D 18:13 in next video
i could talk more about that for sure. just a very complicated platform
What about Spreadshirt?
Spreadshirt was in this video….
@@shimmymorris1 oh, it's the last. OMG, no wonder I have no sales. All I use is lowest tier 😅
Greg Gottfried
i think only amazon is worth the effort among them all.
100% Agree with the shit list
Spreadshirt lowest Tier? Not true.....
The profit margin is diabolical
@@shimmymorris1 margin on amazon is not better
Over Saturated markets
Yeesh, sounds like all these POD Marketplaces seem to be making money off the creators!
yup far to much!
Yup.
