    With ♠Q63 ♥QT94 ♦A987 ♣K6, after partner's overcall 1♠, what do you bid?
    A) 1NT B) 2♠ C) 3♠ D) Something else?
We're too strong for 2♠. But if we bid 3♠ or 4♠ and partner only has 8-9 hcp, we could get end up in trouble. Luckily, there is something else we can do to tell partner about our strenght and spade fit: the Cuebid! By bidding our opponents suit, 2♦, we are letting partner know about our spade fit AND our strength all while keeping the bidding low.
If you haven't started using Cuebids yet or still feel nervous using them, Curt's upcoming four lessons on Cuebids is for you! You can join the class for these four lessons here:

Mondays in June at 2:30, NY time/7:30pm, UK time.
“The defining factor in the progress of a bridge player is the ability to use and grasp one tool: the cuebid.”
This quote comes directly from Dee Berry, author of Cuebids in a Nutshell. While we establish fundamental bidding competency through common conventions like Stayman and Jacoby Transfers, the biggest leap you will take as a growing player is through the cuebid.
Lesson 1: Monday, June 3rd at 2:30, NY time/7:30pm, UK time.
Cuebids by the responder after an opening bid and an overcall by the opponents. We will talk about the forcing nature of the cuebid being invitational at the lower end but unlimited on the upper end and promising support for the opener’s suit.
Lesson 2: Monday, June 10th at 2:30, NY time/7:30pm, UK time.
Cuebids by the advancer to an overcall. We’ll look at similar types of auctions from the side that overcalled after the opponents open the bidding; we will also address the meaning of the jump cuebid by advancer.
Lesson 3: Monday, June 17th at 2:30, NY time/7:30pm, UK time.
Cuebids in response to a takeout double and as a replacement for Stayman when there is interference over our 1NT opening.
Lesson 4: Monday, June 24th at 2:30, NY time/7:30pm, UK time.
Cuebids as probes for 3NT and by the opener to show certain types of strong hands, often hands with a long minor suit that are too good for a jump rebid of the minor.
Lessons will remain available to view for at least one year.
This lesson is suitable for improvers & intermediate players of all bidding systems.
