I don't know how these sharks treat tech in their companies. They are totally unaware of technology and they have this know it all attitude. As a software developer at Google I can vouch that this guy has actually solved a real problem. The paid APIs are too expensive to be used at scale, and the problem he has identified is genuine. None of the independent software apps would have existed if investors had questioned competition from Facebook, Google and other software giants.

It actually happens , when we go for some party and the photographer is not uploading all of your pictures , but this one the best idea to get all all of ur images in one face selfie clicked 💯
It is a prime example of what happens when you have so much money but carry an old mindset. Piyush and the other shark have zero knowledge about the media space and the photography. There lack of knowledge stopped them from investing. To streamline photo editing and then present customers with a data base of their photos is actually a really good service. More and more companies outside of India are working on this. They could have been part of something big but failed again.

The idea is awesome. Making a face recognition app that captures real time images and come up with edit , share features is absolutely a game changer app . The pitch was fantastic and the man is a smart guy . 🦈 Have to consider his idea and should have invest in it.

IMO This tool has the potential to go international. In fact, he is targeting the US/EU market by placing pricing in USD itself. Paying 150$ for US/EU photographers is nothing. His main problem will be around privacy, auto shared photos may break a relationship or two ;-) another one should be around data collection. If a marriage has 10K guests, then who would identify each guest? A host capable of hosting 10K people will not do that, vahan Ashneer ka point banta hai.

@@TechSpyYt Google photos is a generic tool and this one is a specialised tool solving specific problem of professional photographers. It's uniqueness is in integration with a photographer's workflow not in face recognition.
It's not flawless but it has potential.

As peyush said, it would take Google engineers less than a week to come up with a solution much better than this using existing resources... If the market size is big enough and if there is potential, I see ABSOLUTELY no reason why he would be the one leading it...
And if Google doesn't enter directly then the API does not cost 15k dollars to the end user! It can be leveraged by a third company that services millions of users as per the API terms... Breaking down the costs, it's not as expensive as he is portraying it to be

Current GPU rates are really expensive, Piyush saying it will be free is not true, Google cannot pay all GPU bills at this scale considering other free services they are already giving. GCP based APIs are really costly. And saying one can code this in a day is partial true, at MVP level, any senior developer can even code Lenskart basic app in weekend but creating market ready app takes time. This is really good idea.

Sharing the link of a single drive to multiple people results in no one is able to access the files. And that's the biggest drawback
Image search isnt possible on a drive link, this solution is a gamechanger. Finding your image is a headache these days, talking from after wedding season experience
They're so respectful while they talk. Ashneer specially said "I'm sorry me interrupt kr rha hu" whereas in season 2, amit jain's entry made the entire tank to disrespectful!
I used to get to irritated to watxh amit at shark tank S2, glad to watch a pitch from season 1 and see how polite all of them are
Isn't it Sony's obligation towards its viewers to hold n continued the Ashneer for next seasons as well. There must have been discussion between them on terms and conditions for continuing the next seasons I guess. Ashneer might have had expected value for his time there. So bargain have failed between them then.

It is a bogus flex. A managerial level person who most probably has not coded for years will take a day to just figure out which technologies (like web apps, etc.) to use to make it. But definitely a team of 3-4 smart engineers can easily do it in a month - that's what Piyush was trying to convey.

Lets break down the problem:-
1) Create a photo dump of a event.
2) Use you ML pipeline to extract faces and cluster them to unique faces.
3) Create a map of photo to faces ie which face belong to which photo id.
4) Provide eventid and pin for the event.
5) User logs in with eventid and scans face with selfie short video.
6) Process extracts frames from selfie video and tries to match with the nearest cluster.
7) If the match exceeds a certain threshold gives users the photos with their mapped faces.
This can be made easily by a competent team easily or by Google in a week.

as a software engineer i find his product is very good, they don't have any knowledge of it, The person who built it is amazing he did a great job. Google provides google vision API which is very expensive, and even if this guy provides his API as a saas product to developers on subscription his product can be used by so many people, because it is just a technology and there is not much cost just server cost, hosting and need a small team just for mintainance.
This tool doesn't have to be the greatest to make it big in India. People spend without too much thinking in Indian weddings, Indian weddings are a seriously big market.
Main issue with this, as Piyush pointed out is, any college student can build the entire thing like this in a month. So even if they prove PMF, someone can copy it very easily. There is no core tech or IP.
