I am a pensioner who. Has always loved pigeons...have to admire the way you present the handling of your birds.....I am fortunate enough to have a good back garden....and look forward to having some birds of my own....thanks for your vids.
Success, good second time out. Hope that your black hen comes up or is found. Kurt, I am excited for you, my friend. Love your new loft. Really nice design.
Good work...nice to see the birds fly. When they get on the ground keep chasing them away. After a while they will stop going on the ground. Let the loft open the first days so they go in en out. Gr from belgium.
Kurt, keep, that loft dry. Place some L flashing on top of green landing board and loft. Water is hitting loft and running down. Once you floor absorbs water,. It attracts all sorts of mites etc.
thanks! first rain is always good to spot the leaky spots going to start hitting it soon, might even run a sealer over the front half of the floor ect!
I'm a old school pigeon guy from the 1970s Homer's and Rollers. Even though I no longer raise them their miss everyday , Your videos a Pleasant trip down memory lane keep up the good work my friend I will keep watching that's why I subscribed. You seem to have a very easy and laid-back approach that's nice hopefully your Flyers will have a good season with few losses.
Wow you must be so happy with that, I did comment on the last vid saying that using the trap as a entry and exit would be better and it does seem to have worked. The rain might have helped today but all credit to you as from yesterday to get that result today is an amazing achievement. Happy for you buddy.
Nice to see all the birds starting to get use to the loft hanging around outside. One way or another Kurt they're going to be around pecking on the grass once they're outside whether you like it or not. At least they're comfortable out and about the loft nearby which in a way is a good thing to start with. They look so comfortable outside on the landing board and the rooftop thumbs up for that. The way they rush back into the loft when they hear you calling them in for a feed is a huge success considering it's their 2nd time out. The birds are confident and look so relax. Fantastic progress.
Thanks, i think the training box was the best investment to really get them in line pretty fast! they didnt spend as much time up there as i wanted but it was enough to give them a head start, i would say by the week we should have them all flying pretty well!
I m from India ..I'm pigeon lover...very gud condtion Ur pigeons awesome natural climate for pigeon very clean and neat house build for them all Best videos ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing the video and looking forward to the next one. letting them out on the trap is a great idea! i saw some coops that have exit door next the the trap door.
Woow. Yoy have such beautiful warriors of the sky. Looking forward on seeing then accomplish greater distances as tine goes by. Loves from the philipines. Happy Flying.
The birds go to the ground for small sand grits which help to pulverize the grain. You could try putting a tray with sand in the loft every few days to avoid them going to the ground. Your observation of them picking at the droppings may be an attempt to pick the grit. Very nice loft, comfortable number. Should be a beautiful sight when you get them staying up for a good hour. Cheers
Nice flight just hoping the black bird comes back but all said and done beautiful birds very nice videos and above all the icing on the cake is beautiful management by you keep it up excellent job hats off
Now I get your plan of breeding young chicks and not letting them out at your old house! It's so nice when your best laid plans go well isn't it... All the best...👍
Think your birds look well , was in western Australia bk in 1999 , nice place to race pigeons. Think the feral pigeons were off racers , all had big wattles. Enjoying videos regards Scottish borders
MANEY LOFT's, that was perfect at the start i was like sake the food can keep them off the grass they'll alway pick at the grit on the ground but then u said u seen them at the sheep!!!!! I was so nervous i was like take the car out if the way of the loft, then it all came 2gether, THE black hen could be anywhere its a pity doh. IT's GREAT TO SEE MANEY LOFT HAS BIRDs FLYING OUT AGAIN FAIR PLAY KURT keep it up. DUBLIN IRELAND
Yeah that was much better Kirk🦅, very good. From my experience, morning fly time (training) is the best time, the earlier the better, but keep them hungry at this point of your homing program; they know where the food is and won’t go far, because they have low energy level. Once they are better homed, increase their food intake, and they will fly longer and start ranging (remember an important key to success is getting the feeding part right, it’s a delicate balancing act).
Try not to stop letting them out now Maney because they are doing really well work is the only problem but when you are home from work keep getting them out great work mate
thanks! days are getting longer so i am hoping to try get them out after work more, hard with the baby so close but i have been booking some more holidays so should get me thru until i am living there!
Greetings to you, my dear friend. I think pigeons never fly when he was young? Their flight suggests that You have to take them out every day and train them to fly until their wing is strengthened and they learn to fly well. Take them out twice a day in the morning and evening so that they learn how to fly properly. I wish you good luck brother and I hope that lost pigeon will come back
You gotta let em pick about on the floor mate. Once they got there bearings then make em fly. I raced widowhood and used the hen and freedom in the garden as there reward for two days after every race
Hey manny I think one of your hens from your coop at ur house has a hurt wing. You should take a look because in two of your videos she has been on the ground with a sagging wing.
That was what I ment Maney it was a pitty you didn’t make a bit bigger door where the Bob trap is so you can let them out and when you want to you can get them in when you like but they could go in and out that way fair play Maney they have had a good fly today and some flow back to the loft that is brilliant to see for the second time good luck mate
I might, in that area, jam a thick and tall post into the ground and stick some perches into it at various heights / intervals to give them something to perch on away from their main coop. It’s a bit sparse for ‘em as is. Maybe a few crosses or standing T’s, even if it runs the risk of giving the neighbors the impression you’re in some bizarre cult! Maybe just one, five ~ ten meters away from the coop.
Throwing food on the floor might help to get them in faster the sound of the corn hitting the flood normally works. Also make sure there food is ready to eat a soon as they come in 👍
A very nice video, I enjoyed watching it. I would like to give you advice. There is a pair of pigeons chasing each other and they may lay eggs at any moment. You should bring a nesting plate or a box for them in order for the female to lay eggs in it so as not to lose the eggs
i had air in the back of my loft on top i covered it up dampness is a killer with race birds i used gardening cloth in front stopped dampness and fog and wind
This time it went much better and I would learn the pigeons in and out through the same opening. I would not allow walking around in the grass in front of the loft. The routine should be every time upon your arrival that the pigeons go outside to fly, in the meantime the loft is cleaned and as soon as enough has been flown call the pigeons in with food as a reward. This gives the pigeons the opportunity to fly every day and when they return home they immediately come in to be able to eat. You will benefit from this during the races! Did the last missing pigeon come home?
As she was stronger on the wing hopefully she may be back 3/4 days later.Be interesting to know how old she was & how long was she in the loft to try & break her?
Put all your birds in your baskets take them a fair way over from your loft and release them ...repeat this a few times ....it will get your birds airborne before you know it......make sure baskets are off the ground when releasing them

Hay Kurt morning, maby you could think of putting some slider doors either side of your trap for letting them out might save some time, 🤔
i was looking at a slider window for a shed looked like a good idea!
It might stop a bit of confusion with some of the birds 🐦 anyway for for thought 🤔😉
You gotta let em pick about on the floor mate. Once they got there bearings then make em fly. I raced widowhood and used the hen and freedom in the garden as there reward for two days after every race

yes they are nice from ebay!
In fact, the big mistake was to get them to walk on the ground ... it was enough to remove the trap and make them settle on the loft

Making them flying in the rain is a good training bro, at the same time try to keep the pigeons dry
