    For anyone who doesn't have a plastic flower holder, I got a paper/plastic cup, turned it upside down and poked a hole through it. Then I inserted my stick with the flower on it and it worked just fine! If your stick is too long for your cup you can just cut it and it will be able to sit up on its own!

    I am thrilled to pieces to find such an excellent tutorial. Am making my first wedding cake and was totally ignorant and frantic trawling through You Tube for tutorials that really were not very good. This is excellent. Really cheered me up. Can't wait top decorate the cake with the roses. Thank you so much.

    Hi - what do you do with the cocktail stick at the end or if you're using the rose to make a spray? Is it only to be used if your going to stick the rose straight into a cake?

    • @CakeNation
      @CakeNation  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use it to stick straight into the cake if using the cocktail stick. Alternatively if you wanted to make a spray you could use a wire x

    Just had a look through some of your other videos on your channel, what an amazing artist you are. This rose is probably my favourite, you've really captured the softness of the petal and the way rose petals curl over. I'm making my daughter's wedding cake in the autumn and am very tempted to try some of these for her cake. Can you tell me what you use as your modelling paste? Do you just use water for your glue and what do you think someone just starting would really need as a starter kit? Thanks for sharing your knowledge, it's lovely to watch.

    • @CakeNation
      @CakeNation  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awh thank you. I use either renshaw modelling paste or smart flex. I use water to attach but you could use glue. I prefer water as it doesnt mess up the brushes. I don't think you would need a start kit as such. Just the things to make the roses. They are a good starter flower. I am sure between now and autumn you can master it x

    Thank you very much, i really enjoyed watching and i learned a lot from this video. I noticed when you are rolling out your gum paste it appears very smooth and soft, do you mix anything into it? if so what do you mix in and what ratio do you use. Thanks for your help, this is my first time working with Gum Paste and I am making Roses for my Son;s wedding. Also how long do these flowers last? is there a way to preserve them.

    • @CakeNation
      @CakeNation  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They will last ages as they dont go off. As long as they are stored correctly. Cool dry place. I usually keep them in a cake box and put the packaging peanuts in there that come with posted items. Or you can use the silicone gel pouches that come in shoe boxes. I use 'flower paste' which is basically fondant/gumpaste with Tylose powder pre mixed into it. If you cannot get flower paste you can always add some in yourself.

    I am new to this so I've been watching videos to learn. I ordered a few things from your video but I can't figure out what that tool that you put your rose into at the end. It is white with holes in it so your stick went into it first and then you put foil around the rose to hold pedals up. What is the name of that rose holder for it to dry? I would really like to have one also. Thanjs. Great video. I've watched it several times already.

    • @CakeNation

      i would use corn starch on the board to stop from sticking. you can also use trex on your hands if youre finding this is sticky too x

    Do you use cmc in your fondant?

    • @CakeNation
      @CakeNation  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer to use flower paste which is already firm enough for flowers, but you could use fondant and add cmc or tylo x
