Yes! I used to have a yorkie (he passed away a few years ago) and when I used to have him he used to always do this. Whenever he sat with someone and me or any else tried to approach them he growl at us and clench his teeth.
If they were taught better they wouldn't
i used to have two yorkies, one was healthy and the other was 20 lbs. the skinnier yorkie did this sometimes when she was scared, but the other was super chill and didnt care. could be a personality thing but maybe yorkies are more likely to do it?

Exactly. For good training as soon as the dog does that put them down on the floor which shows you are more dominant in the pack as they understand it. It works.

My Yorkie is exactly like this. If anyone comes near me when I'm asleep, she will go nuts. Yorkies are just super protective little dogs.
My little Yorkie does this whether I hug my girlfriend or my brother. She’s always guarding me and vice versa.

@@crystalo8603 you can do stuff like ignoring a dog when it starts biting or barking. When you ignore it, dogs will realize that you are ignoring it so if you keep doing this, they may stop and when they stop barking all the time you can then give them a treat as an award
I've had a total of 5 Yorkies...when they don't want to be bothered they really don't want to be bothered

Actually I have a Yorkie too a girl and everytime I bring a girl to bang she watching me making sure the girls don't hurt me but since my Yorkie sees the girl screaming(from my BBC) she act chill

Lol our yorkie was exactly the sameif she was sitting with my father or mother/ her favorite people she wouldn’t let anyone touch her. Great dogs and extremely cheeky and tenacious but that’s just what makes them great.

Make sure the bottom gland has been expressed , might be having backside pain.
I’m no dog expert but this seems to be a trust/ anxiety issue. The dog only snaps when your hand goes behind him. He also is constantly watching your hand. There’s two ways you may be able to fix this. 1- sit with the dog and pet him until he begins to trust you. 2- give him a light but firm poke with your pointer finger and say no in a stern deep voice. Make sure your not scared when you make this correction because the dog can read body language and will know. Also in this video you seem to be weary of the dog, it’s important that your not scared. If your acting suspicious then the dog will be suspicious.
This dog was actually tolerating you petting it and probubly would have became comfortable over time if you just stay Whare it is confrtable until it relaxes. The first time it only snapped when your hand went Whare he couldn’t see it.

That's when daddy puts his baby on the ground and lets mommy do the feeding and the putting outside and giving the love until the yorkie understands that it is 3rd not 2nd or alpha. It only takes a week or so before the dog understands it's place and it is not cruel for the man to then ignore her for during that time.

We rescued one they told us he didn't like men when my husband came over the dog snapped at him. I immediately put him on the ground and did what I said to you for you to do. Two weeks later, I lost him to my husband cuz he loved him more than me. Lol...Stay calm and no yelling and you will have the best dog in the world.

My Yorkie doesn’t snap , but when he’s cuddled next to me or sitting on my lap he does growl , even with my older dog who he loves so much . He’s very well trained , he just loves his cuddles .

I got bit on my nose, same situation..dogs dad in bed with his chihuahua and I went to kiss the dogs daddy and bam- he bit clear thru the tip of my nose! I am ugly from it now...and that little dog...well, Rusty told me he was sorry when I got home from the hospital, then the dog warden came to our house and made us quarantine him for biting his owner🤣 Rusty lived to be 18 years old, he walked up to me and said he loved me then had heart attack in my arms, we rushed to the vet but by the time we made it, he was gone. I love you Rusty, I know you were sorry. I look at my scar every time I look in the mirror.
