Big thanks to "The Caravan Buyers" for sponsoring this video.
The Changing Cost Of Caravans (2022)....
In this video I talk about the changing prices of caravans. With prices for new and second hand caravans rising over the last two years I ask when will it all settle down. When will we see them return to normal?
    Thank you for watching.

I suspect most new vans are bought on PCP deals as are cars. Maybe owners will return them at the end of the term 3/5 years, as many may return to holidaying abroad. If too many vans come to the market the s/h prices may drop especially if demand drops. Of course I could be completely wrong 😉

Great video once again mate. I’ve been looking for a while to change our van as been wanting to get a fixed bed for ages. After looking at the market for two yrs I don’t think they will drop but don’t think they will go up anymore, think it’s levelled out now. So at wk end we bought a 2018 swift sprite major 4 Eab Castle powis. I think it’s £1500 over what it would of been 2/3 yrs ago but we got £1000 more than what I was expecting for our 2015 coachman festival 👍

I think with the airline companies cancelling flights left right and centre, and huge queues and delays at airports, people may stick with caravans this summer. So the price could well hold throughout the summer, with people staying put.

£48,000 for a caravan that feels like it was built on a Friday afternoon, no thanks i'll stick with my 2014 Bailey. Great video, keep safe👍Mark & Coral

I agree, looked at new Baileys. Massive price increase with less of a quality build.

Wow!!! £48.000 for a new caravan, i couldnt justify that, i love caravanning alot but i would never buy a new one because i dont think any caravan is worth that much
Your so right Ian about the uk and all its beauty, would rather stay here.

inflation is crazy I would of said the same but I just payed 30k for a elddis 868 to be honest I don't see them coming g down anytime soon they just need to raise the living standards to make them more affordable

    Hiya, 👋 again.
Think I told you when we met at Blakemere that we put a deposit on our new caravan last September.
Since the then the price has gone up £3k although we got it for the price it was back in September. Think this year they gonna stay high but next year we will see a drop off but you just can't be certain these days about anything.
House prices through the roof at the moment. Like everything else and the cost of diesel and petrol are just rocketing so the cost of running a caravan not just buying 1 is going up and up.
Anyway best wishes to you 3 and the dogs
    👍👌🤜🤛

Used car prices look like they are dropping at auction so who knows I guess caravans are a supply and demand item especially with the summer season coming up

We use the caravan all year round.
I haven’t been out of the UK since 1981.
That was my only trip abroad.
I don’t like too much sun either.
    I burn too easy.
I think that the market will level out, in about 12-18 months.

Hiya.... couldn't agree more with you.... we have an older van and its superb with everything we could want in it.... new vans are extortionate right now and its just putting some people off basically.... best wishes Paolo and Roger aka ... 'The Camp Caravanners' x

During t Covid no one could go abroad when they can again it will be back to the opportunity cost of going abroad v buying a caravaning . Although car companies have decided it's easier to sell less cars at a higher cost

UK caravans are popular in Australasia (Aus & NZ) is the local product is too heavy for small and medium size vehicles to tow so we get a lot of imports here, I can't see prices changing for a while due to manufacturing delays for new and a still high demand second hand market. I have just bought a 2014 Lunar Clubman with side island bed in good condition and it cost around $50k NZ Dollars. That was an average price for a good condition van of that type and age.

I think people not been Abel to travel abroad tried caravan holidays don’t know percentages but think most people have kept the the caravan and like the flexibility it offers. This maybe a reason prices have remained high. ???

Bought mine exactly a year ago. I have seen the same van go for more that £5000 More than what I paid. I think the Dealer got his sums wrong!
Anyway Its still cheaper than taking my family to Greece for 2 weeks! In time it will be an investment financially and in memories which money cannot buy!

What are your opinions on the electric vehicle changeover in 2030. I'm looking to put my pension lumpsum into car and caravan combo

I personally don’t see anything dropping till at least late 2023 , everything has shot up in price from vans to pitch prices . Oh don’t get me started on pitch prices lol.

No burst! It’s just inflation. Same as gas, electric, food, cars, fuel etc. nothing will come back down in price.
We may see a lag in wages going up which could effect things but manufacturers have put prices up because they have to, wages materials also effect them. Second hand prices just follow on

I think that they are about £3k more now.

We bought new again for the second time. It will be our last. Main factor for us was we actually made money on our PX so we’re no better off even though we paid inflated price on our new one . Other point of view are the same as many. The high inflation will end up in recession and for the caravan industry it will mean less sales . I can’t see the prices dropping but I can see more incentives to boost their brands.
What’s not been discussed are the way everyone has been treated by the 4 main brands ( warranty work) and people with long waits on their orders . So I doubt they’ll be any sympathy from current customers so in the end it will come down to which one is left standing am afraid . Lunar went after they never got them selves sorted with quality issues ….

We bought ours in 2017,a dealer special based on a swift 4eb which is classed as an entry level, with the extras it took it up to the same spec as a challenger, almost.however I couldn't see the 5 grand difference even then.lets be honest it's a tin on wheels.as for the money in the high end,I would be bricking itanytime I took it out
