    One of our favourite sites Bunree. Been using it for years and usually have the best sunny weather there and usually midge free at Bunree😀. Lovely drive to get there as well. Always takes my breath away arriving at the site.

    Have a fabulous time, Bunree is absolutely fantastic, so picturesque, just mind out for the loch currents if you get the kayak out! Also may I suggest checking the travel times to Skye, travel between the two is probably much, much more time consuming than you’d imagine… surprised us. Maybe something to do with stopping at lots of scenic spots ;-)

      @@ForTheLoveOfCaravans BTW, there's some v detailed videos on my channel of our trip to Bunree and Skye back at Easter of 2019. The videos are somewhat amateurish and things will have moved on a bit by now but might be helpful :)

    • @jimaizlewood8369
      @jimaizlewood8369 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seeing your mention of beware of the currents brought back memories, the last time we stayed at Bunree it took a small dinghy and outboard motor to go fishing on the loch so off I set motored out about 100mtrs switched off the engine and did a few casts to my surprise when I looked up I was nowhere near where I should have been, so engine started at full power and according to the little satnav I was going backwards at 6knots when I should have been going forward at 4knots. So I could see quite a large circular swirl on the water and thought if I could get into that and go round with it it would throw me out near to where I wanted but not a bloody chance, I ended up heading towards Fort William and I ended up beaching the dinghy at the side of the ferry terminal, I got to talk to the ferry skipper who told me it was due to a tidal phenomenon where the incoming tide coincided with the remnants of the outgoing tide and it even pushed the ferry to the extent of its chains I ended up walking back to site for the car and packing the boat in the boot.

    • @CaraVanOlogywithBecky
      @CaraVanOlogywithBecky 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jimaizlewood8369 sounds like we got stuck in the same phenomenon! Took my young son out (his 1st time paddling solo) and me in a 2nd kayak. So I checked everything really carefully and waited until all calm. We stayed close to the shore, he did really well and at the end wanted to cross to the little beaches opposite so we did. Got back in the kayaks to paddle the less than 100yards back to the site side but what I hadn’t seen was that really strong current building behind us around that corner so by the time he’d adjusted his paddle we were both getting pulled backwards, initially not so quickly but by the time I’d got the emergency rope out and lashed his boat to mine so that I could tow him out it was even too strong for me to get us out of. We got pulled around the corner but luckily I managed to put us into a little cove just around the corner otherwise we too would have needed up at the ferry dock! Of course the cove was very rocky so getting us both and the kayaks out was quite an effort, then I had to carry both kayaks back over the beaches back towards site! A nasty experience for sure, made worse by the fact that I had every bit of safety equipment except my phone as we’d just been close to the shore and hubby who’d been taking photos was panicking as there was no foot route to follow us and the wind had picked up too much to send the drone over looking for us. Glad to hear you were ok too and thanks for making me feel better with the knowledge that not even a boat motor could overcome that current!

    Hi to both of you, we did Scotland for several years and then followed 6 years in Devon and Cornwall but we have also decided to return to Scotland but this time not back to Bunree we’re going on CL’s this year en route we’re stopping near Dumfries but the moving on to Dallachulish Farm near Oban for 11 nights, if I could recommend one place to visit when up there it’s the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge as an ex Para who knew a couple of lads whose memorial is there I like to go and have a little chat to them and thank them for the memories and service. It is such a quiet place it’s almost eerie and every time we visit we both come away saying how remote and peaceful it is and it s one of those places which gives you goosebumps. Wherever your travels take you stay safe and enjoy them.

    Great choice of site guys I went into Bunree last year for a look as I couldn’t get booked because it’s very popular. Staying there for one night in July on our way to sky and Lewis so looking forward to it. Just for your info I don’t think they allow awnings on caravans that are pitched on the Loch side pitches ( I might be wrong) so bear that in mind. Another site I could recommend which is not that far is BIORAN DUBH a CL site we stayed at two years ago, very nice every pitch has a stunning view over the water to castle stalker. Really worth considering. Anyway hope you have a great time I,m sure you will.

    Hi both of you 👍🏻
    Great news on subs milestone !
    You’ve got a good plan in place for this year - we stayed at Harbury Fields couple years ago and it’s a lovely site with great facilities.
    Last year went to SW Scotland and stayed at seaward caravan park in Kirkcudbright- another place I can recommend.
    Question for you … can you recommend any sites near to or easily accessible to Liverpool.
    I know as a Manc it involves crossing to the dark side but we love Liverpool and especially going to the cavern for the night., and fancy taking the caravan rather than a day trip by train.
    Kind regards- enjoy all your vlogs
