    There are some more tools that I use for the build. I will list them completely once I do an inventory of all the tools.
    After searching and watching other videos on TH-cam, I decided to change the steering mechanism a little bit. Previously, I bent a paper clip from the rotating servo to the hole on the knuckle and hoped it would "push and pull" the steering left and right as the servo is activated and rotated. This did not happen so I had to change by adding a straight piece of paper clip to the servo and having another paper clip that was 90 degrees from the hole on the steering knuckle. This yielded some way better results. Although, it it not perfect, but it will do. The other thing was, by doing this, I had to left the servo up by 0.1" and that made me loose a lot of space inside to pack the battery and the connectors. I may have to do away with the connectors.
    I got lucky that I have some heat shrink that was just a tad smaller than the plastic wheels. I had to stretch the heat shrink over the wheels. With the heat shrink on the wheels, it was just like as the wheels were rubber. The grip and steering were perfect. Smooth driving on all surfaces.
    The Hot Wheels diecast had a different design due to the shape of the body. I had to grind down the inside areas of the doors to fit the base cover. Even after so, the base cover did not fit will. I had to tape the bottom with clear tape to hold it to the body.
    I am still trying to figure out how to connect the rear tail lights to the servo. For some reason, it seems like any channel the rear tail lights are connected to, they do not turn off or on. They are just on all the time. I tried setting the transceiver to a different channel and having it on a different setting so I can have a 0 to 100 output, but that did not work. I may have to move the rotating servo to a different pad on the receiver.

      That's a great idea and I have been thinking about that! Only issue is having just the car will do no good. You would need the transmitter and the battery charger too. Maybe in the future when the channel grows bigger.

    Faster rpm and rubber tires instead.... I bet itll drive like a champ. Itll have more traction

    • @SlickDiecast
      @SlickDiecast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This motor is rated at 10k rpm and it's super fast. I can't handle it at 100% throttle. I sometimes wrap the plastic wheels with heat shrink to add more traction, but if the car comes with rubber tires, I just use that. I love the rubber tires more than using heat shrink. A lot more control with speed and steering.

    Three grandkids 4.5 yrs- 6 months. Wsa looking at pullback toys on Hot Wheels track. Darda made a good one but it's too fast for all the curves. This conversion is right up my alley. I don't need it to turn......just follow the track. Stupid question from idiot. Does this have a speed control? Need to go through loops but not fly off on the curves. I would set at one speed and just sit back and enjoy. Thanks for your time and effort.

    • @SlickDiecast
      @SlickDiecast  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for watching the video. I did not use an Electronic Speed Controller. I just use the remote to control the speed. If you are looking to use the cars on tracks, you can use a similar setup along with an ESC or cut the voltage being apply to the motor to have it run at a lower RPM.

      I'm going to have to try the 0603 models! Thanks for suggesting that. And I know what you mean. Originally when I started, I said that the original metal/plastic base plate would be ideal to modify to fit the components. It was much harder than I anticipated especially the metal pieces. Once I made a mistake, there was no going back. This is why I started using my 3D printer. If you don't have a 3D printer, you can always get styrene or delrin sheets.
