100% can relate. I'm a 5 star UberX/Comfort driver in the Orlando market with nearly 6,000 rides, 30%AR, I'm getting roasted right now. I know where to be, when to be there, I provide a premium comfort product, I'm clean cut and well dressed, and I take my job very seriously. I'm a former Exec VP of Operations for over 40 facilities that held people accountable for customer service. I know how to talk to people, and I'd like to think that with all things considered, I have a very high tip potential. It's the middle of season here and I'm struggling to crack $22 an hour before expenses. Market is oversaturated with drivers, fares are at an all time low, hardly any surges, and quest incentives have all but disappeared. I'm currently job hunting but this is what I got for now. $3 bucks? IN France, Uber has a 10 dollar minimum. That needs to be brought to the US driver. I have to pay for a warranty, and car washes, and Rideshare coverages on car insurance (20% charge over standard). We need to contact Robert Riech, labor secretary for Bill Clinton and tell him this.

When I started driving for Uber, in 2016, a fare from downtown Ft. Worth to D/FW airport with no surges and no traffic (a 25 minute ride) paid 28 dollars and some change. The same fare today pays 17.00 and some change. No way you're gonna convince me Uber is charging the customer less now than it was 8 years ago.

@tristan7844 yes. I'm serious. Minimum base fare was almost $13 both Uber and Lyft. They kept competing with each other dropping the prices down to entice passengers at the expense of the drivers. These companies need to restore that shit back up to that and some to adjust for inflation 2024. Prices and pay should be going up each year not down.
The offers are getting really ridiculous over the past 6 months. But I had an idea. What if instead of a strike day we had a "cancel" day where everyone cancels every ride request and does two things. First before canceling the ride text the driver and tell them: "Have to cancel on you, Uber isn't paying me enough for this. Please tell Uber to pay drivers more. Thx" Then, second, when you cancel on the app and it asks why you are cancelling select the one that says trip isn't worth it. If everyone did this for a day we are sending Uber/Lyft a message but hopefully it also gets some frustrated riders barking up thier arses as well. We need to get riders more vocal with these rideshare companies. Could probably do something similar with food deliveries as well. Hungry people that don't get their Big Macs, fries and shakes might be more pissed than riders..

I took a 3 dollar trip and the guy has soup that spilled all over my car and I made a complaint on Lyft support and after 5 days I have not heard anything about if I am going to get paid for this. I went to a professional wash and they quoted me over $239 for cleaning the backseat. I ended up buying a machine and a cleaner for over $150 and all this for a stupid $3 dollar ride.

Uber and Lyft have these 2/3/4$ offers all day long in Los Angeles. Unbelievable, what cracked me up so much was last night (Sunday) was the peak of the storm and the offers were so low it literally made zero sense . I know for a fact Uber/lyft are absolutely milking the riders. So as the driver you’re getting shafted. No dinner no lube just straight shafted

What's sad is that they are doing it because they can get away with it. They are often times over saturated with drivers so that if a driver turns down a ride all they have to do is present another low ball offer to another driver.
I experience the same thing in Vegas, plus no tips from locals. Also i am prone to recieve negative feedback from UberX and the Shared rides we are forced to perform. I am in a Tesla Model Y and it difficult now. People do not appreciate your property and your efforts to service their needs. Also, i received negative feedback for Talking Too Much! And Uber says this will have to stay in my rating.

I mean I don't know why you would pay $50K to buy a vehicle just so you can Uber. That doesnt make sense. I just started driving for uber and after all the deduction (gas + additional insurance for rideshare + depreciation per mile + maintenance per mile), I am calculating it as $11 per hour (for 142 hours drive time in January, 2024) in the Phoenix, AZ market.

I feel that lady's pain. No more bonus, nothing but crap rides. Why the F does Lyft need to ask me to referral someone to get $221 every time I log into my app now. I made 22 bucks in 2 hours. I decline so many bs rides. It's raining hella hard in Vegas, and they expect you to work for pennies. I'm looking for a W2 job now. Also, with these 4 to 7 dollar rides, I no longer take 2 or more people when I show up. I've been telling them due to the pay, I can only take one person. I tell them to decline the ride or pay me extra.
You’re one of the few who’s strategic enough to analyze how many passengers are riding in comparison to the rate! There’s no way in hell I would be at full capacity for the bare minimum. So, turning those down is the right move.

You never run high end vehicles on any Rideshare platform! You only run high end vehicles when you are a Private Car Service with high end clientele!
I'm in the same boat as her. It's so frustrating to have people get in the car and act like they own it and tell you what to do. I'm gonna have to find something else. I do hope everyone else is doing the same as I am. I am telling the clients about show the love on February 14th a lot of them are willing to support us so if we could just get the word out that would be wonderful everybody tell your passengers about February 14th.
Her frustrations are felt platform wide - so many drivers have the same issues. And absolutely correct - you can't make money with 2024 fares down 25%! Uber isn't getting any less money, they're not charging less for rides it's the drivers who get paid less per fare!

This weekend in Phoenix, UBER was shaving minutes off the boost. They were starting a few minutes late and ending a few minutes early.
If the customer tells me to bust a u-turn, I'm canceling the trip. He can get in someone else's car with that trash attitude.

I have a 2022 Lincoln nautilus. And all my rides riders get in Smelling like marijuana all in the neighborhoods. All the riders, even the women stick like marijuana. And it's a $4 or a $5 or a $6 ride. It's unbelievable what Uber is giving the decent drivers to do.

Since the people are contractors, and not employees, it lets the company get away with literally anything they want, with no repercussions whatsoever.

I received a $96 offer to drive from Skyharbor Airport in Phoenix, to Flagstaff. That 400 miles round trip. A tank of gas, and I am renting from Avis for $375/wk. Why do they think it is OK for me to be at a loss for a trip is beyond me.. They are about the bottom line, I get it. More drivers than they need, so they get away with it. I hope you shut down Valentine's Day in LA for UBER and LYFT.

I had two bad trips today.The first one, the pick up was 7.4 miles. The trip itself was only 0.5 miles for only $4.85. It was XL. The second trip, the pick up was 11 miles. The trip itself was 11 miles also for only $20.78. It was XL as well. I contact them and requested a fair review for the long pick up distance. They told me that you are not eligible for the long pick distance. How is that possible? Is that fair?
Would take me 6400 trash trips putting all the money just to payoff my car without insurance gas maintenance and profit, I drive a Corolla Hybrid and I don’t see how someone was trying to imply that the cost per hour on a vehicle is only $5. Unless he’s on crack when he does his math!! I would have to do 20 trash trips a day for 320 days nonstop again no insurance no gas no maintenance no overhead no food no water to payoff my car!! I hear a lot of people say you don’t need skills to drive a car, what they miss is that driving for extended periods a day requires more than skills, so yes, $3.00 rides?! Refuse refuse refuse!! The Gem show is here in Tucson, so rides have been really good the past week. Now some of the shows have left. This is the largest gem show in the world. It lasts for 2 weeks. Surge pops high.. suddenly the map has lost its color, not so many rides needed now that part of the shows have left.. Just little rides tonight, not much $. Lyft makes uber seem like they pay a lot with their lil $2.25 rides! I am glad they stopped the stupid 50 rides get an "extra" $15! Tonight I got a one star rating from a college girl who wanted me to pick up her friend who was a mile away or so. She had not added a stop. I waited for a few mins, then I said, its a busy night, I need to keep moving, so you can get another Uber car or this girl can get her own. So I leave, then this girl is chasing my car down the road and my passenger starts screaming.. to STOP THE CAR! I told her to get out, she says she is not getting out. The girl catches up and gets in.. ugh!! So she reports to Uber that I "ignored her requests". Uber of course tells me I mut be "respectful".
I think it's time to for drivers world wide to sue Uber and Lyft because of this garbage we get.

Well where I live I drove 6 hours and 8 minutes and earned $125. Thus I had a private ride that earned $20. So for a little over 6 and a half hours I earned a $145. I'm driving an SUV with 3rd row seating and I don't have uberX for shared turned on all I'm offering is Lyft XL and extra comfort which pays more

I had to start rideshare driving full time from part time when my son had an accident and needed my care. It is degrading and dehumanizing to drive 8 hours and make $100 between Lyft and Uber!

I can relate to this driver I stop driving for Uber and Lyft and went and take a school crossing guard job because of the rides and delivery pay and I only have a 2016 Honda C-RV I have done over 10,000. Trips for these companies and I don’t take the shit that is going on in my area of Stamford CT.
I was forced to work for these companies when I had a loss of job. I had a really bad experience. I stopped driving people. Many Uber and Lyft customer are just trash rude, entitled, annoying nasty etc. I have a leather car interior nice and clean and still they don't care they slammed the door and eat in the car. So I switched to Uber eats it took me longer to make money but I just couldn't handle it.

I have an 18 expedition limited. It's completely pointless to drive it outside of busy nights and weekends. Nothing but X rides or shitty low paying XL rides on the other side of town. I just use a hybrid sedan 90% of the time.
You gotta blame other drivers also with that problem for taking those $2-$3-$4 both Uber, UberEats, DoorDash that’s why nothing is changing

Yeah, I wouldn't buy an MERC SUV to ride for uber. as far as the 3 dollar ride it was for 1.6mi I mean that would be equal to a 30 dollar 16mi ride... IMO it wouldn't necessarily be a bad take for me... even though I might not always take that.

The real question is why is she doing UberX with a Mercedes SUV? She should be at the airport doing XL trips only and maybe a comfort ride here and there. Why isn’t she signed up on Lyft doing LYFT black as well? Why didn’t she get a commercial auto loan and register her car as an official commercial vehicle instead of taking out a personal loan? To me it sounds like lack of knowledge and poor planning. I’d never spend that much money unless I had my LLC,DUN,EIN, and a positive cash flow business checkings account with an approved business loan from the bank.

@@adrianifill8777 dude tcp licensed drivers with their own business plus doing Uber black/black SUV on the side are easily clearing 100k a year. Xl rates from the airport and Lyft black rides are almost double the rate of UberX and regular Lyft shared. I know because I do it.

She's frustrated because just like everybody else that's frustrated or has been frustrated or has tried really hard to keep their hands on something that is not real that is never going to be real she's going to go down the hole just like everybody. Her car just like my cars are going to get repossessed you're going to end up renting a car from them and driving for them anyways because there's no other way to make money in the gif business. It's hard to even some weeks. If it wasn't for my disability check I'd be homeless I already got both my car is repossessed and I'm in a rental now just to try to pay the bills and even then I am in the San Francisco Bay area the heart of all this.

Why accept a $7 trip if your goal is high paying privates.
Knowing my own experiences, I’m driving a >$50K comfort ride, 2022 with 20%, with a 4.9 rating. I’m retired and drive only to pay for my vehicles expenses. Have tried every suggestion, chase surges, don’t chase, do airport, don’t do airport, take every trip, reject trips, drive this hours, don’t drive these, etc. Have watched all these rideshare guys TH-cam blogs.
What I’ve learned is; God help these professional drivers.
They will make less than $12 an hour with no benefits, while exhausting their own vehicle. A part timer who is working just to earn to cover the vehicle cost and deem their time irrelevant will take $5-10 per hour home, depending on tips.
I’ve said this 100 times I’ll say it 1000 times and I’ll say it 1 million times ladies and gentlemen first of all Any car over 30,000 to do Uber and or Lyft it’s garbage do not do it in fact if you can get one for 15 to 20 you will not be making money For a long time there’s a lot of politics involved in this instead of going mad simply stop driving that is the only thing left. Nothing changes if nothing changes the only way at the moment is to find a better job if you can’t or anyone thinking about buying a vehicle to do right heredo not buy any vehicle that is over $30,000 and the only cars I would recommend to buy are hybrid don’t buy electrical vehicles they’re not worth it. I called those types of eagles as scooters that may change at some point in life however, that’s not the point in time.
If you want to make a living doing rideshare find a good used vehicle that might not look great but is reliable and well maintained. Most riders don't care about whats picking them up. They care about getting picked up and getting where they need to go. In my opinion, like yours, is that doing rideshare in an upscale or expensive vehicle is a recipe for disaster. If you are a private driver with the right riders to support the vehicle then its a different story. But for avg day to day stuff find the cheapest, well maintained car you can, keep it clean and maintained, and if you do that you're in better shape than 50% of the field at worst.
And surge is dead. Last night... in the fking deluge... rides were coming in back to back, I was getting a ping within a minute of picking up a fare... and 90% of them were the same 3 and 4 dollar shit. I had to cut off pings until I dropped off because it was distracting trying to read that shit while driving in the rain alongside Los Angeles maniacs. It was obviously a surge night but no red anywhere on the app. And some of these fares had long pick ups. I saw one with a 5 mile pick up and 6 mile trip for 8 fking dollars. I spent most of the night turning down garbage. There's got to be a breaking point.
Yes , if you can get another job , ( if u can) and buy some Uber stock….
Today I was just browsing want ads, I saw a job for $20 an hour and if you use your own car it pays the mileage on top of the $20 an hour. Delivering documents and picking them up. Now I don’t do UberX. But that seems like to me it may just be what an UberX driver makes.
Uber is just straight garbage now for drivers. Takes 12 hours to make maybe 150
I swear Uber is using any means to keep our pay down, like if you making to much money Uber will start giving you trip whit riders with history of not paying tips, or giving you trips with long distance to pickup or give you riders that use the entire 8 min of included wait time before they come out ( this always happens to me on the very short trips), Uber have all this data and is using it to lower the drivers hourly pay, I've over 7000 trips and lately I can't hardly make $25 an hour anymore a year ago I could easy make $35 an hour all 7 days of the week
It's the drivers fault for accepting low pay riders but when the monopoly Uber and Lyft has owing the platform nothing can do the drivers. What drivers should united and come with a platform that the drivers contribute to make it examples kicad gimp freecad in this manner the drivers have control of the means of production.

Do the sloppy riders only choose UberX? I dislike it when riders tell you to do illegal maneuvers. I often tell people when they ordered an inappropriate car (Uber X) and tell them to order higher-end Uber service (XL, Comfort, Black, SUV, etc.).
Uber kept posting that we we're going to make 2 1/2 times more money on New Year's Eve than a regular day. About 3:00 in the morning New Year's I went offline to take a break and found myself in the center of a $30 surge. I quickly went back online to catch that surge and the trips that were coming in we're running about $17. Where was my $30 surge? I kept declining the trips waiting for a $30 minimum trip but never got one. I made the same amount of money on New Year's Eve that I did any other day. We as Uber drivers need to get together and do something about it. I don't know what or how but I am in and up for suggestions. I would stop driving, but the thing is, I really enjoy it. We definitely need to get paid more. Especially to help us maintain our automobiles.
Get rid of Uber and Lyft and start a new company owned by drivers. There is no way around it.
I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth market and would accept these $3.32 rides all day long, and here is why. I don't worry about how much per HOUR I can make, but how much per MILE. I don't look at it as a JOB, but as a BUSINESS, where profits = revenues minus expenses. All my expenses are car-related (gas, maintenance, insurance, car washes) and are correlate with how many miles I drive, not how many minutes I drive. A ride that pays me $20, but is 30 miles, pays me only $0.67 per mile. A ride that pays me $3.32, but is 1.6 miles (the one you illustrated), pays me $2.07 per mile. Which trip is more profitable, the long one or the short one? That's why I decline the $20-$30 rides that require 30-50 miles and take the $3-$5 short-mileage rides all day long. What do you think?
Uber is not paying me my tips that come in on Mondays. The app will have it added but not in my bank account. It’s happened several times. I finally called them and the agent who you cannot understand said someone will call me . They never did.
2024 I'm done with uber now I have a regular job . Waste of time and milage wear and tear on car 🚗
first of all I would have NEVER took that ride .. hell no - if the fares in your city/town w.e are outstandingly low its BECAUSE you are oversaturated! More drivers less pay - less drivers BIGGER PAY and SURGE - its as simple as that because $3 in LA is basically pennies ..
Yup I complained about these 4 guys and then all of a sudden I get a notification that I was speeding when I wasn’t ! I think it’s weird I reported them and then I get falsely accused of speeding! I though Uber was taking car of this
