Try pulling the sway bar out from the passenger side. I found a video on this and since I am a true DYI, I would suggest that you try it. Just unbolt the control arm and you don't need to drop the subframe.
What year did you do it on.theres not alot of info on what years because on the old ones they pull it out and on 07 and newer they dripped the frame and I'm trying to figure out which
@@cmgray74 Same here i have a 2007 impala Lt v6 disconnect outer tie rod and you can pull out on passenger side saves alot of time also dude in the video stop talking to your fem side briannna very strange weird humour
I just did this on my 2004 3.4L base model impala. I pulled the old one and installed the new one from the passenger side. Like some people have mentioned that they unbolted the control arms and moved them out of the way, I simply jacked my rotor up until it was about lifting the car off the jack stands it was sitting on. That moved the control arm out of the way enough to finaggle it through. I did the passenger side jacking of the rotor first, then moved the jack to the driver side to jack the rotor and it too moved the control arm out of the way enough to get it entirely through to the drivers side. Hope it helps some people as I was not looking forward to unbolting that whole subframe n stuff being that I did this in my parking lot.
Thier is a easier way to change your stabilizer bar just take the tie rods loose and turn the bar upwards and it will come right out so if you have a lift but no jack or your working on jack stands this works easy just did it today.
@@birdking6389 your welcome it will work I have a lift but no jack stands to support the subframe yet so as long as you unbolt the tie rod ends and swing them up out of the way it will come out
Excellent presentation! I feel like I just went to Sway Bar College! I don't think I'd want to attempt it on the ground (without a lift). But still, you made it look easy. Thanks for the real-time video.
an easier thing to do if you dont have a car jack like that to do that is take the tie rod off of the passenger and pull it out from there. did it with my dad and uncle and it works very well and way easier to do. great video for if you dont wanna do that and have the other things accessable
I noticed that when taking the bar out, the center of the bar what pointing down. But when putting the new one in, the center was pointing up. Was this intentional? What is the correct way? Thanks
Yes just did mine , jack up car with front tires off…put on jack stands , move steering wheel for good access, it is a slow go with the wrenches and sockets, but it is a sit down job.., all by sitting next to the wheel wells Get lithium grease for inside bushing and outside of bushing so clamp goes on easy. Use pb blaster on everything
I guess if you need to replace the intermediate steering shaft it's best to drop the sub frame? The one on my 06 Monte Carlo SS is clunking pretty bad.
Take advice from the Klown..........even tho she is all lathered up, a lil anti seize never hurts. Afterall, it's all in the presentation. And as always Klowny awesome vids Sir! ✌
Thank god my car was in the south, it never got rusty but def helped me change the links and those bushings as mine looked rust free. But good knowledge in case I need to replace it
Just wondering..... Do you have to drop the sub frame? Or can you pull the sway bar out the side? I'm trying to replace it on my own and do not have all the equipment
Late reply, but I have indeed pulled the sway bar out from the side instead of dropping the frame, also inserted it in that way. Imserting is harder than taking it out when you don't drop the subframe
Hey can you help me iam at my wits end. My steering wheel got very loose over night. Also something is clunking under the car. I lifted it up and noticed control arms have bad bushings . Do you think this is the cause of loose steering? My rack is not leaking, fluid is not low. My tie rods are tight. The loose steering gets worse on flat roads that are smooth. Mostly noticable when wheels are straight.

Thanks! My only issue was a rounded off bolt for the bushing on the sway bar but i got it off and the rest was pretty easy. This vid helped lots!

U can try to snake in the extension..
So you take the time to put spray lube on rubber and antiseize on bar link's but not on the bar or the subframe. Is there a reason or just oversight.
Not sure what you are talking about, those are the only spots that need lube..don't forget to subscribe

I hope you replaced it with a solid swaybar. I did to my 13 Impala and used polyurethane bushings and endlinks. Made a big difference in cornering.

Can I still do this jacked up off the ground with a regular Jack? I don’t have a lift nor the money to take it to a shop

Is it safe to drive on a sway bar that’s all the way snapped for 2 weeks ?
Mines been broken off for probably 3 years and I haven’t died yet
Can you still change the outer tie rods with the sway bar snapped? I know it’s an odd question but until I get the money to pay someone to do this?
