Thank you so much for this video Rachel! I’m taking my rescue spaniel/golden retriever mix Rylee to her CGC test tomorrow and I’m as nervous as you say you were. We completed a 5 week class and I have been taking her everywhere to practice. She still tends to try to jump as folks pet her….I’m still using a treat to make her keep 4 paws on the ground. Only part of the test I’m worried about. Your video really helped!
People often overlook the appearance and grooming section. I had one dog come to the test that just reeked with smell. Be sure they are well groomed and have clean collars and leashes, especially if they smell like dog. Keep in mind not only can't you use treats for the test, you also cannot use prong collars, shock/ecollars, or even head halters. You can practice and feed outside the ring, although if you're using a prong collar, be sure they're even allowed on the show grounds. If you want a therapy dog, most therapy groups won't allow prong collars on visits even. Can be very difficult to wean a dog off a prong collar. Also, be sure they eliminate, especially if the test is held outside, as they cannot eliminate once in the testing area, even if it's outside - unfortunately. You can use your body as a block when doing the dog to dog exercise. Best to get them to sit so they're not tempted to go say hi to the other dog. Hope that helps.

@@RachelGreene Thank you!! It's been very good actually, we used a lot of your tips and she's already almost completely potty bell trained!! It is crazy how smart she is and also how helpful the bells are; especially since i work from home. Puppies are just the best...
Our of curiosity what about especially skinny dogs who don't want to sit due to comfort? Example, my hound is lanky and doesn't like to sit because she's not very 'padded' how would you train that out?
