- We are pleased to announce a new member of the Canine Good Citizen family- AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen.

AKC Urban CGC is beginning in April 2015. The first AKC Urban CGC test in the country was recently administered by the Obedience Training Club of Palm Beach County.
Instructors can learn more about the program and begin training their students on AKC Urban CGC skills by visiting the AKC Urban CGC page. Urban CGC test materials are now available in the AKC store.
AKC Urban CGC testing will be administered by approved AKC CGC evaluators nationwide beginning this month.

hmm it said something about grates. Absolutely not in Florida they are metal here and with grounds reaching 160F wont let her anywhere near the grates

This dog rides loose in the car? No crate, not even a seatbelt? That's unacceptable. Dangerous for the dog, the human, and for other drivers on the road if something happens inside the vehicle. Safety should be a factor in this test. AKC, you need to rethink this.

Mason passed both the Urban Canine Good Citizen and the Community Canine test on Thursday. I love that AKC added these two tests in addition to the basic CGC. It gave us a goal to work towards in training. This is Mason's test video!

I hope the AKC will reconsider stranger petting the dog.
And why is that? The general public has people of all kinds. Children especially. If a child were to rush up and try to pet your dog, you don't want your dog either freaking out, acting aggressive, or biting out of fear.
That's why they call it Canine GOOD CITIZEN. A good citizen wouldn't bite a stranger. That leads to lawsuits.
@@MisakiBlossom, a child rushing up to a dog has nothing to do with CGC testing. This would be a child/dog bite prevention program. Teaching children and parents to be appropriate around dogs. "Don't talk to strangers" applies to this and parenting skills to teach manners to children. The problem with the station gives a false sense of security. Many dogs have never done the CGC and if they did and have passed it does not mean they enjoy getting petted by strangers. And passing a CGC does not mean the dog will NEVER bite anyone who demands to pet the dog. Best to teach, "Not your dog...Don't pet...admire from a distance" Never, ever will a dog bite if people would follow this simple rule.
All these people talking about the dog riding in the front and no one is talking about her shit parking job..
