I am a coloured 33yr old and Johnny is the only musician to make me cry...I am a grown ass man but I feel his music deeply brother you definitely not alone❤
So true this… saw Jesse last night in NY and on cue, the tears come when he plays this song. So beautiful and it captures well the complicated (and yet so simple) bond between father and son ❤️
I've loved Johnny from the first drumbeat of "Scatterlings" and ever since. What a man, what a human being. There has simply been no white man who can dance like he did. I didn't know I could feel so much hurt for someone I never actually knew. The world is a lesser place without you Johnny. RIP.
Im so sad by Johnny Clegg's passing and the fact that Jesse is so under rated here is SA as a musician and a song writer. Wow such a great song. RIP Baba.
JC was someone who played a role in most peoples lives that grew up in SA, even if you didn't know it, no hate in his heart and loved all, I told my wife he is one person I would have loved to have met and spent time with, who is your person living or dead that you wished you had met, I have a few, Nelson Mandela is one, I believe they were both humble people.
Johnny Clegg meant so much to so many. He embraced a culture not his own with all his heart because he had love in his heart for humanity - a virtue missing in most of our so-called leaders, and a quality which we are in vital need of if we are to survive these difficult times. God rest you, and bless you Johnny Clegg. Your legacy is strong.
This is one of the strongest, and most beautiful songs I have ever heard from a South African Artist. I have been a fan of Johnny Clegg for many, many years. I strongly feel that we lost THE MOST influential singer in our country the day he passed. His music has meant so much to so many!!!! He will truely be missed
RIP white zulu. A colossal of a human being who appreciated life and the beauty of all cultures and thenatural beauty of South Africa. A true example of ubuntu.
Can’t even watch this without sobbing. Was lucky to tech JC and Savuka several times. His music means everything to me and to the world. The planet is truly diminished-2 years ago this week.💔🙏🏽✨
If every South African saw our country through the eyes of this incredible man, we would be living in a reality that Madiba and every great soul that walked through this land had envisioned. Thanks for uniting us through your music. Hamba Kahle Johnny Clegg🌹
True, he did a show on SABC called A Country Imagined. There's a few clips of the show here on TH-cam. Watching the show you see the man's love for the people if this land.
Step 1 - Watch Cruel, Crazy, Beautiful World Step 2 - Watch I´ve Been Looking Step 3 - Cry.Like.A.Baby ;( RIP Johnny Clegg. You will be sorely missed. A great loss for the world.
I have been listening to Jonny my whole life through my dad Hal Hasseriis, he had always been an absolute fan and he brought me up on his tapes and c’ds growing up on the farm. Dela was our song!! He met my step my step mom Karin Zoller… she was a long time friend of the Clegg family through her brother who had passed in 2010 she took me to my first live concert and it was one of my still today biggest highlights of my life! I had the privilege to take my kids to Jessie Cleggs concert at Reddam house Ballito this year and I must say this song Jonny and Jessie did was the most inspirational song to me and reminded me of my father seeing I hear feel and go through life in such a way he died when I was 12 years old and I am now 34 the love and pain for him never leaves it is never easier! I miss my dad every day!

Good evening Jesse. I still can't be believe that baba Johnny has passed on. I hope you and your family are well and going stronger. And may the Lord help you and your family through these moment. Love you I'm sure his looking at you and smiling
I would love to see a movie made about his life and times with the backdrop of the struggle for freedom referencing Mandela. Working title "Spirit of a Great Heart"
Balling my eyes out. Johnny has meant so much to our family since the 80's- i was lucky enough to be his stage tech in Santa Cruz, CA a few times, and once, watch my 5 yr old daughter get up on stage and sing "Osiyeza". God bless this wonderful family, and please get well, Johnny. The world needs you more than EVER. Bless you.
so beautifully said. Agreed, Amen, please Creator, can you look down with a little mercy on the White Zulu who has done so much for Your Cruel Crazy Beautiful World?
I'm not crying, you're crying... I have had a day in Spain of writing about the Cape and getting homesick... then I watched this. Please pass a big box of tissues 💕❣
Johnny, know where you now travel you see your beloved Africa from above. YOU, had such a positive influence in this world, through your music. Long will you be remembered!! Hamba Gashle dear one.
I've had this song on repeat for two hour and balling my eyes out. I don't know how to explain it but I really resonate with this song. Being a child of a father that has achieved amazing things is really heavy on me and amazing at the same time. My heart is spilling over and over... amazing, this is true art! Jesse, let your spirit and soul overflow onto the world. We hear you, we feel you... your music moves us! I'm in love with your art and your message, you are the next generational movement, the rebirth - renewed in all ways! Keep it up
Same experience for me Lindelani. This song is more than just a song. I believe it is spiritual, in the true sense, and able to bring healing between many children and their fathers. Each person has their own journey and story in relation to their father/father figure, and might not identify fully with every WORD in the song, but the SPIRIT will resonate with each one who truly wants the good, and wants to heal and longs for harmony and true healing in their life. I discovered this song this morning and immediately sensed that I should share it with my dad, who is fortunately still alive. I asked him to play it loud and his response indicated that the song is really doing its work - first in me, and also in him. All the best to you on your journey. From one lover of the good to another.
My tear ducts open up and it starts raining on my face every single time I hear this. Epic, beautiful, touching, stirring. A perfect representation of the man. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
What a beautiful tribute to a loving father who was a great gift to the world 😢 We all needed and still need Warriors of Light like Johnny Clegg who heal the world through their music. RIP Sir ❤
I remember seeing Johnny Clegg in Vancouver in I think 1990. It was the last date on his North American tour and I got to meet him after the show, a real gentleman. I also remember seeing his wife and a very young Jesse there. This video reminds me of all the things I miss about my Dad, so great to see Jesse and Johnny on the same stage together.
David Jenkins I saw him in Montreal the same year, it was a fantastic show. Performed many of the Savuka & Juluka hits. It's a shame I never got to see them and Sunny on their reunion tour. I hope he can pull through the cancer, because the thought of him dying really saddens me.
@@RB747domme the venue in Vancouver was quite small, no more than a few hundred people. I remember thinking Sunny would never get his whole band on that little stage. Got to talk to Johnny after the show for a few minutes. He looked exhausted but still took time to talk to us, it's an experience I'll never forget. My Dad died from Cancer so my thoughts are with Johnny at this time.
I am enjoying this song.... I am in South Africa and I am doing my research about Johnny Clegg, you are the African by everything man..... I am enjoying every information i get about you Johnny. How fortunate can one be to have this kind of extraordinary legacy - son of Africa. He was different and will foréver reverberate over the Zululand Valleys and Hills, places of meaning...
Johnny, you have brought so much to so many young people in Africa and gave everyone hopes you will be greatly missed, but I am sure you're entertaining our Lord with your songs. My voice shakes with sadness as I speak of Johnny Clegg's passing but my eyes light up & my heart swells with patriotic pride whenever I hear a Johnny Clegg song on my radio driving in Johannesburg. He was part of the long glorious summer soundtrack of my youth but now suddenly winter winds are blowing as we begin to understand our own mortality in a world without Johnny Clegg. Thank you coming into our world JC & Thank you for the everlasting gift of your words and music. Until we meet again 🙏🎵🎶🎸❤
One of my first memories from waaaaaay back in 2005 at age three and a half was Johnny Clegg making an impromptu tour stop in my little hometown of Quincy, California. I will never, ever forget that evening - front-row seats for one of the greatest of all time. I will forever be disappointed that I never got to attend a second concert of his.
Just emotional. I will miss you and I do so. All the best to your wife and your son, Johnny! I will always love your music. Best wishes from Germany. Armin

If you’ve ever wondered if all superheroes wore capes, yours wore Zulu skins...be comforted . RIP Mr. Johnny Clegg and thank you for your contribution.
I have so many childhood memories of Johnny Clegg music and my parents would be singing, dancing and when he came to Vendaland my parents took us there................... it is memories I cherish with all my heart.............
Great man and musician - he spoke to so many people from around the world. I was fortunate enough to see him in person and up close during three different concerts in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin, USA many years ago. But those memories still make me happy. His song "The Crossing" came out shortly after my husband died. I must have listened to it hundreds of times over the years. It was only a few days ago I found out Johnny had passed in 2019. It felt like I'd lost a friend. So glad Jesse is also talented musician - we need more Clegg music making this world s better place. 😢. Johnny is love; he's in the Heavens where he's been since birth. His earthly teachings ended on earth age 66. Surely he's dancing, singing, and loving the beauty of souls in concert with friends behind the pearly gates.

Rest in peace baba, we will always remember you🙌
Every time I watch this, by pure coincidence someone is chopping onions in the next room. I've yet to actually catch them in the act though.
