    This is an excellent, thorough tutorial for anyone on an anticoagulant. My mother is currently battling these nuisance nosebleeds and I am going to have her watch this so she can be less stressed out about them. Thank you!

    PERFECT! I had what I thought was a serious nosebleed about 2 weeks ago. I watched a bunch of videos to see what I should do. I decided to try the suggestions that seemed the best out of all of them. Then your video showed up in my suggestions today, and your video suggestions were exactly what I had done to stop mine. The thing is though, is that yours is the only one that went straight to the point. If I'd seen yours first, I would have saved myself a few hours of watching not-so-perfect videos.

    I have now had two "minor" nose bleeds and these I stopped by ONLY pressing on the nostril which was bleeding, for about a quarter of an hour, this is far more comfortable than pinching the nose, This single nostril method allows one to keep breathing thru the "good nostril"and also to talk. I am now keeping a regular notation (graph) of my BP an note when the effect of my (candesartan = angiotensin two receptor blocke,r AND isosorbidemononitrate = blood vessel relaxant ?) are no nlonger effective ; this seems to be after 8 eight hours,. For the major nose bleed the British ( UK) emergency sevice came to my house within 20 mins of my call, they took my BP and did an ECG before ambulancing me to the nearest (Bristol ) emergency hospital room. I had to wait about and hour to be seen by a Dr and he said " I see a clot so just keep the nose klip and use when necessary". I caught a bus home 20 mls . I can not think what would have happened if I ad been seen at night,

    Does this work for HHT patients that have spontaneous recurrent nosebleeds likely due to telangiectasias?
    i dont think vaseline is plausible because any trauma might cause it to bleed

    I have had my nose cauterised 2 weeks ago and am hoping it will stop the nosebleeds.
    I notice you do not mention cauterisation in this video.

    very helpful, thank you - my 89yo mother has been getting regular nose bleeds on 5g eliquis for atrial fibrillation. are there any alternate medications or treatments for this condition less likely to cause regular nose bleeds? also we are in the uk - we asked the specialist about the nasal spray but he was unaware of this treatment, are nasal sprays safe for patients with high blood pressure?

      Hi Nicolas, we recommend that you speak with your healthcare provider or specialist about the risk of sprays for patients with high blood pressure. The materials we offer are for educational purposes only and we do not offer individual medical advice.

    What is the cause of nose bleed?

    • @samthedetectiveeevee
      @samthedetectiveeevee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are multiple causes for nose bleeds including dryness, trauma and humidity. Most of the time they won't be anything to worry about when not on anticoagulants and can be dealt with easily, bleeding disorders can semi worsen the bleeding but most of the time it is due to clotting time.
