I love seeing these homes that might not be as “important” as some of the mansions you cover. But are still beautiful and more importantly, attainable and actually for sale!
When buying a historic or older house, you have to look out for a bunch of important things! Is the foundation intact! Are there any leaks or cracks that are evident! The roof is so important! How old is it...are there any leaks! The wiring...is it new....is there any old knob and tube...is it aluminum or copper wiring, what amperage is the panel? Get a home inspection from a valid and accredited inspector! Its worth every penny!
OMG that Georgia house, there was a fire, but the grounds and the part of the house untouched, you could restore this place to be a real classic home again! Prob cost a Million though lol
Awesome as usual, Ken! And for my tastes, ANY of these homes are superior to ANY of the gloomy, concrete airplane hangar monstrosities they now build in Los Angeles or Bilionaire's Row in Manhattan. I mean, these exquisite jewels compared to anything in 432 Park Avenue -- or, dear G-d, THE ONE in LA? Bless you for keeping the Faith, can't wait for the next one!
Good report, Ken. The California home is great and very livable ... and nearly half the price in Texas. It would be great in the Hill Country. With a twist I have two words: upkeep and property taxes. Have a great weekend. Thanks for your added variety.
I LOVE a yellow house!! I've only seen the first house ( Italianate), but I love this house ! The spiral staircase is gorgeous. I like the traditional Victorian furnishings too!
Love all the house profile videos, and this was a fun new style too, so keep up both! It's fun to look at these houses, and even better to learn from someone with expertise. Thanks for the education!
You dropped some more gems on us today, Ken. Twenty years ago, I would've jumped at the chance to leave the city for one of these treasures So much to see; the entrance doors on that Waterloo, NY, house make a bold statement. In my area, an old church with its original façade was converted to condos. I would like to see more of these. Thank you, Ken.
It is difficult for me to say that one of these wonderful houses is beautiful 😍 I send you a hug from Fort Mill South Carolina. Your channel makes me dream of having my own house.
I imagine these mansions would all need insulation, Thermo pane windows, Plumbing, electrical updates. This was a fantastic video many of these house really unique! Really beautiful homes.
I totally agree with you about the green bathroom as long as the photo isn't hiding any issues (mold, broken tiles, etc.). I browse through another site to check out the architecture and interior design, but I also use 1930 as my cut-off date. Claw foot bathtubs can be a problem to get out of if you are older and/or partially handicapped since you are starting from a higher base and stepping down to the floor. I can remember the crash when my late father went to step out, over-balanced, and smashed into the wall on the other side of the bathroom. The only problem with these houses is that I already live in the middle of nowhere, and I'm not going to move to a different part of nowhere (even for a great house/mansion). Great video.
Dang that Church really gave it to me. You could have a Club/Bar and a Cafe at the same time...or have all your folks live in ONE awesome space and call it the Convention 😂
Ken as a long time fan of you and this channel, and a huge fan of older homes, I loved this video. It was so fun!! Please keep making these periodically if you can. Also would love to see a new house update of your guys’s house too. This is a great mix in for your channel with the historical old and historical “new”.
It's kind of a given, that you can have a modern kitchen and a bathroom,in a historic house! Just keep it so it fits in and matches the rest of the house!
The 3rd house used to be a bed and breakfast. We live nearby and have stayed in it many times. On the 3rd floor where the jacuzzi tub is, that bathroom also has a steam shower. The copper clawfoot tub is very nice to relax in too!
I totally enjoyed this video. You should definitely do more like it in the future! And, I agree with you on preserving the architectural elements of historic homes. I LOVED the mint green bathroom! I saw a retro mini fridge online today that same color and it’s a best seller:)
This was a very enjoyable video. It is such a joy to see houses like these. It isn't too surprising that they are priced as they are, really. They are difficult houses to maintain, heat and cool. I would very much enjoy more videos like this one.
Thank you for this. I look at Zillow for these houses too. I did purchase a house in Georgia that realtors claimed it was built in 1960 on the websites, but it actually was built in 1924. I researched the original owner and the historical society had records of the address and original owner in the 1925 phone book. It was also part of a famous architect tour back in the 80s. Good work, I appreciate all your professional work that you do!
This was so much fun! Thank you for putting this all together! I don’t even know how I would choose one of these houses, they were all amazing in some very different ways. I hope if someone from your channel buys it that they will have a big party and invite all of us😂
Yeah I fell for one of those videos 5 years ago. I'm in Detroit now came from Texas. The amount of problems in these old homes are unbelievable. Houses are energy eaters and pipes may be lead etcetera.
What a great tour! That church could be a cute country inn!! Thanks for all of your hard work, Ken, poured into your fun and educational channel!! I agree that baths and kitchens need modernization, but in keeping with a nod to the past!
First home is/was a historic museum. The second one was a frat house for the local college. Third one is listed as a B&B. All 3 homes are on busy roads or highways and all 3 homes were built in the 1800's. I did find that they all were a bit overpriced for the areas they are in.
I love these videos of historic houses currently for sale. It's a great idea and I'd like to see more of these. It's surprising how affordable some of these houses are. Great commentary, Ken!
Really fun! Lots of interesting places. Not a fan of wallpaper or wallpaper borders. I love the historical elements. Not the newer furnishings. If I chose a church it would have to be a small country church. Easier to maintain with a sensible light bill. Thanks for the really unique properties!❤
This is a great video Ken. I do enjoy this type of content. I also love the original footage format too. There were some amazing deals in this one. I don’t know which one I’d pick. If I were younger, maybe the basket case built in 1837 in Georgia. Definitely the Ft Dodge beauty! ❤😊
The Iowa home with the massive verandah with mosaic floor, the porte-cochere, the ground-hugging weight and immense size are only emphasized by the magnificent buff-colored roman brick. The enormous room-sizes in the house are evident from the outside. I would snap this house up in a minute if it were not in so remote a location. That stairhall is crying out for wallpaper.
How much to heat or cool these houses? Can you get a loan? Will anybody insure you? Can upgrades be made without having to bring the whole house up to code?
Great job! Nice seeing your handsome face while you talk ;o) Also, like your casual conversational voice more than your scripted one with the house tours. I have a beautiful Queen Anne in small-town Indiana. I have contemporary furniture and art that works perfectly. I'm not an old lady (no offense!) and don't want to feel like I'm living in a museum, so this approach suits me best. Regards from Indiana!
Great video! Thanks. More like this would be welcome😊.it would be amazing to live in what was once a church! Also, Ken,I have such an interest in staircases. For eg, rarely are homes shown with one main staircase on many levels AND secondary staircases that intertwine different floors , for eg. back staircases between single levels on different floors , in different styles creating a sort of unique maze. Do they exist?
Dude! So much more interesting than another insane old tyrant's estate that burned down or got turned into a mental asylum or county club or whatever. Actually, I have appreciated seeing the old estates, but man, you're delivery style is so much more you and fresher with these Zillow picks. I used to wonder if you were a real person or some kind of AI bot, if you can believe it.
I live in very low cost of living area of the US (my dream home cost us $120k), and no you are not going to find homes this large and this well kept for $90k. Maybe a smaller house that needs a bunch of work.
@@ganymededarling that’s not true at all. I personally have two of them picked out in Northeast Iowa. The problem is they have lead and asbestos so they have to be gutted to framing in order to raise a family in them.
I love seeing these homes that might not be as “important” as some of the mansions you cover. But are still beautiful and more importantly, attainable and actually for sale!
I'm absolutely gobsmacked at those prices! I live on Vancouver Island, Canada and wouldn't be able to buy a condo for most of those prices.
Love this format. Lots of beautiful homes to dream about.
I might have to buy the Victorian in Omaha for the staircase fretwork alone! I love extensive fretwork like that!!
Hi Ken! I just saw you on a Hoarders episode. I recognized your voice immediately.
That was a fun one Ken! My daughter and I both enjoyed watching the incredible variety of homes/properties you found! Thanks!!
I agree with you on giving people a pass on kitchens and bathrooms.
enjoyed your research and pleasant voice

Love this one! Please share more of this!❤
Definitely, would like to see more. Good lesson in looking out of the box for possible relocating. Thank you for your This House videos.
Good report, Ken. The California home is great and very livable ... and nearly half the price in Texas. It would be great in the Hill Country. With a twist I have two words: upkeep and property taxes. Have a great weekend. Thanks for your added variety.

It is difficult for me to say that one of these wonderful houses is beautiful 😍 I send you a hug from Fort Mill South Carolina. Your channel makes me dream of having my own house.
The Emerald Bathroom....Just change the wallpaper, the shower curtain and the seat cover!
Loved the video, more once in awhile would be great. Love the homes!❤
I like the change up for this video. Fun to daydream
I absolutely love this style of video, your commentary, your voice, you opinions! ♥️
This was fun! Thanks. 😊
I love historic homes, and I to look at them frequently. I really love when a floor plan is given so I can imagine rehabbing to its stately glory.
Love old homes and enjoyed your research and video, please continue you work.
I imagine these mansions would all need insulation, Thermo pane windows, Plumbing, electrical updates. This was a fantastic video many of these house really unique! Really beautiful homes.

Thanks Ken. That was fun. I love looking at house listings. I really enjoyed so much of the intricate craftsmanship of these houses.
wonderful that these
beauties still exist
always wanted to live
in one thanks
Great video! I LOVE the NY home;)

PLEASE do this again! This was fascinating!
Love this format but also love the in-depth on specific homes…Can you do both, please?
This was really fun and there were some beautiful homes here. Thanks for sharing this with us,
Love this! Thank you so much for putting this video together!
What a great video! If only the walls could talk, you'd hear a treasure trove of great stories from these artisan homes.
The 3rd house used to be a bed and breakfast. We live nearby and have stayed in it many times. On the 3rd floor where the jacuzzi tub is, that bathroom
also has a steam shower. The copper clawfoot tub is very nice to relax in too!
The only thing I like is you. Your hard work is appreciate by all. You.taught us things we might have never seen. We think you are the best.
I totally enjoyed this video. You should definitely do more like it in the future! And, I agree with you on preserving the architectural elements of historic homes. I LOVED the mint green bathroom! I saw a retro mini fridge online today that same color and it’s a best seller:)
Wow. They are stupendous !! A few tweets and what a treasure
Another great and fun time watch video . Thx for your efforts on you channel.
The Greek revival in Columbus, Georgia would have been my pick. Lots of potential there.
Brodnax, VA is a beautiful house, right up my alley Ken, maybe you should sell real estate! Thanks for this different style episode!
Yes, would like to see more like this. Including old firehouses and/commercial/factory conversion opportunities
That was entertaing and informative. Please do more like this, maybe once a week on Fridays?
I enjoy your Channel - I have been watching- I subscribed today - thanks

So beautiful!
One thing you have to remember about NY is property taxes and school taxes are high. Geneseo is a pretty and small town. Also has a college.
Love that first house except for that yellow. That's a tough color to pull off.
Wonderful variety ❤

This was so interesting! I am also a huge fan of craftsman style homes…maybe one day
Really like this one. Thank you. J Boone
Thanks for the very fun videos! May I suggest a WV homes special. So many $cheap$ options here due to cost of living ✅👋😃
At 21:45, this "Georgian" house is actually Greek Revival.
Very entertaining Cheers from Australia

I wonder if any of them would sell some furnishings as well.
Just wondering as the houses are very old do you find that the electrical and plumbing have been updated?
You are great overestimating how much I can afford.
Love seeing the man behind the voice. You're so handsome 😍
How much to heat or cool these houses? Can you get a loan? Will anybody insure you? Can upgrades be made without having to bring the whole house up to code?
Not everyone is willing or able to live where these houses are located 😮

Wow we just bought some dinky little thing in West Palm Beach for 400,000

How do you find houses like this??
Jaw on the floor. Wow.
Although love the description, would rather to be able to see a LARGER picture and hear you in the background 🤷♀️
Miss the details of the house
GOD BLESS YOU FOR TRYING TO SAVE THESE WONDERFUL PLACES! TODAY REALTORS ARE SELLING UGLY HOUSES TO STUPID BUYERS! SORRY IF I HAVE OFFERED ANYONE.
Nice, I'd like to see the old high tank toilets in the bathrooms, and do we really have to see you doing the commentary?😅
❤
I was wondering why you were showing us half $1 million houses when you can get that same house for 90k in a different location
I live in very low cost of living area of the US (my dream home cost us $120k), and no you are not going to find homes this large and this well kept for $90k. Maybe a smaller house that needs a bunch of work.

Why do people say "price point" when they can simply say "price".
Why do we have to look at you during the presentation?
You would rather listen to some AI dick that can’t even pronounce the names correctly?
When we move, you'll be the first person we call.......
Nice work Ken! Those are quite a number of interesting real estate leads.🏡🏘🏠🏚👍✅😁
