- A small tent, a couple and some hungry hyenas, this well describes our camping weekend in Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Nanyuki, Kenya.
That being said, this was not supposed to be a camping vlog. In fact, the main reason of our visit to Ol Pejeta Conservancy was to join the Cheetah Project team for a few days which we did. Sadly, for our third time with the Cheetah Project, we once again did NOT find any cheetahs... But it is always a pleasure to highlight the amazing research work done by the team.

2 years ago we saw a mama Cheetah with 6 cubs very rare in the North Mara Conservancy. The Cheetah project and Park rangers were providing 24/7 protection so the cubs would survive. A year later we brought our son and his wife to Kenya and they saw them also, all 6 cubs still growing strong. A few months ago we saw one of those cubs who is not fully grown with her own two cubs. And on our next safari a few months later, we saw her mom (the one with 6 cubs so she's now a grandma) with 2 of her own cubs. So that is 8 that we know of that survived.
Thats awesome! The rangers are really doing a great job down there. 👍🏼🇰🇪

Thank you Dave & Tracy for what you do!! Amazing content as always!! I love those camping videos you do but I don’t think I can camp in those places knowing there are hyenas & buffaloes outside. I grew up next to Mt Kenya forest where these animals visited our homes frequently even in broad daylight (they still do), I just can’t do it.

Love your videos. To find cheetahs, go to KOPJES; small piles of rock. Cheetahs live a life of terror/fear, so like to be high to see well. We had one on our ship to Venice. Could put your arms around it! Lovely animals; make perfect pets - get a brother and sister. You are Canadian, eh? In Calgary, here; -5C.
We see cheetahs all the time but just never when we are with the cheetah project haha.

Yes, they feel threatened when alone
we were almost attacked by a herd in Maasai mara last year. They charged at the car i was in but the driver drove off so fast. But our guide told us they did that because we were too close to them n they were with their babies

To effectively keep off wild animals at night, use flickering lights (On and Off) to create a movement scenario. That way, the animals will see it as if someone is approaching them. Amber color lights are the best

Greetings from Edmonton, Canada. I’m enjoying Kenya trough your lenses. Keep safe, those animals can be vicious though. I grow up chasing big baboon’s and monkeys which were never scared of us. They stole our chicken, even our goat kids and papayas in front of our house, despite that I can not stand close to hyenas, you are very brave like a Moran 🤣
