I can relate. I have this cheap piece of scrap cymbal from a CB kit. It's flimsy, bent, thin, wobbly, trashey, and crashed. However, when it used at the right time, it is absolutely perfect. I have had a few of my drummer friends borrow it. It's so unique. It's effects change depending on how you mic it too. It's bizarre. Yet sounds incredibly exotic.

Bad cymbals are actually useful. I like their trashy sounds as a counterpoint to the shinny sparkly nice ones. I used to have a fun stack I made with both a bad crash and a hihat bottom cymbals
I got some awful hi hats along with my drumkit, that happened to look just like Zack’s “cursed cymbal,” without the dents though. I got some nicer hi hats, so I began using one of the old hi hats as a crash. I went absolutely hog wild on the thing, and now it is very much like Zack’s cursed cymbal! 😂
i'd take it to a jeweler and have him melt it down into the shape of a cross-just to protect the gear you have, as well as, your own life!!!! and place it upon your keychain.
Speaking to playing on cheaper gear, I'm selling my old 2007 Starclassics and getting a Superstar classic 7 piece kit. They're a step down from the Starclassics but they sound amazing and are a great price for me, and I'll be able to afford better cymbals!
as someone whos been using a superstar classic for 6ish years gigging and recording, they are very underrated!! very versatile and have been used on records from hard rock to small group jazz!!

During the 6 years I played drum kit, I used a sound percussion kit and never changed the heads once. Somehow they never broke and they didn't sound that bad. Was playing rock/metal so that dull kinda tom sound fit okay.

Not to be weird, but like the other day I was cooking for a band and their venue was changed last minute because of the threat of the storm, it was outside and was moved to an indoors venue (which I didn’t know about so I was looking like a chump walking around a deserted stage holding a dozen sandwiches) but with the length and intensity of the storm in this video, Im pretty sure it was the same storm, hurricane winds and violent lightning for like 20 minutes, then boom back to normal so just know that that storm was fucking up bands all over the country

Hey man, I'm guessing you have one of the older Sony APS-C camera (6300,6500) and if you want to get longer 4K recording times, there's this thing called "Open Memories" which is a firmware you can install on the camera. That allows you to enable a setting that lets it reach higher temps before shutting down. That combined with using an external power bank should help w/ the heating issues. There are a bunch of tutorials and stuff on YT about it. If you don't want to use any of the 3rd party stuff or diy methods, and you have some of that sweet Skillshare sponsor dolla$ then Sony's newer stuff like the ZVE10 or a6100, 6400, 6600 don't have any 4k recording limits bc of more efficient video stuff or smth. They use the same E-mount for lenses so all of your current gear should work w/ them. Hope this helps!

The biggest problem with cheap cymbals is the hh. The feedback on the cheap ones is really shitty because of the material being too thin, after a year of drumming with really cheap childish hh I switched to a fair one and finally I'm getting the physics I need, it really does changes everything. I I were you, I would invest most of my 20$ there ;)
If you ever get a signature cymbal with Meinl, you need to name it “Minle”. The Meinl Minle by ZackGrooves.
